DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 8

Yep I don't have a problem with violence in comics but having someone torn apart violently on panel seems like its just an attempt to shock with over the top gore and brutality like in lousy horror movies

I didnt need to see the Psycho Pirate get his brain punched out of the back of his head in Infinite Crisis

I dont think that all comics need to be 'all ages' and i dont agree with censorship but having people torn limb from limb just feels like the comic is trying too hard to be extreeeeemeeeee

Yeah; things are getting way too dark. It is being over done. It seems we are moving toward what the classic heroes led by Superman were fighting against in Kingdom Come.

It's funny that you mention that cause I don't even notice it. Guess I'm just desensitized. That or I've read too much Punisher: Max to notice stuff like this.

Yep although that actually wasn't drawn that gory

Him doing the same to Ares was drawn in a much more graphic way though

I think its about common sense. Over the top gore and violence just ends up seeming silly in the end and makes a story less dramatic not more

He's a poor character but I still don't want to see that stuff in a superhero comic. In a horror or crime comic, all bets are off.

The only time I've truly not minded the gore was when Nova gutted Annihilus in Annihilation, because, **** it, Annihilation is amazing

We are talking about a guy who used to light himself on fire and launch himself into crowds of enemies. Seems like the sorta way he should go out.
