DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 9

I've never actually counted, but that sounds likely. Especially with the double-shipping now. I mean, there were 3 Deadpool comics at one point.

They read just like Parker's Thunderbolts. The second issue doesn't even feature a single Dark Avenger. So it's essentially the exact same comic with a new name--just the way I like it, 'cause Parker's Thunderbolts was awesome.
I found Parker's Thunderbolts to be dragging ever since Fear Itself, it's why I've been looking forward to the new direction.

The $3.99 price point isn't as bad as it used to be, it seems. I was looking through my comics from both Marvel and DC the other week and they each had a relatively low, relatively similar number of $3.99 books. $2.99's back in, somehow, even on stuff like Avengers and Winter Soldier at Marvel. Maybe because of the double-shipping.
I was told that Winter Soldier is $2.99 because of Brubaker insisting upon Marvel to sell it at $2.99 and he gets paid less than he usually does for the book.

But look at a lot of the books that Marvel is double shipping: Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers books, X-Men books like Uncanny X-Men, Uncanny X-Force, and Wolverine & the X-Men, all get the $3.99 price point despite the double shipping. The reason why we're seeing less $3.99 books now is simply because the $3.99 price point has killed Marvel's lower tier ongoings, one-shots, and minis and essentially doomed them to immediate cancellation or no one buying them.

Yeah, but Deadpool Max was the only one that mattered.

How in the world are the $3.99 price points fairly even? DC has, what, 4 of them give or take? Marvel has that in just the X-line.

Action Comics
Batman
Justice League

Actually, that's all I can think of off hand. What else is there?

Marvel has:

Avengers
New Avengers
Avengers Assemble
Secret Avengers
Uncanny X-Men
Wolverine & the X-Men
X-Men
Uncanny X-Force
Astonishing X-Men (though I think the price of this one's dropping soon)
Defenders

And those are just listing the ones that I buy. Aren't Iron Man, Mighty Thor, Captain America, and Amazing Spider-Man all $3.99 as well... probably more?

Marvel typically sells about double the amount of product that DC sells. Their line of ongoings is more than DC's, they sell far more minis and one-shots than DC does, and they offer far more variant covers than DC does.

I'd be really curious to see how the market share would look like if Marvel didn't resort to using their much larger product line, higher price points, variant covers, and double shipping to take slim leads. I'd be very willing to bet that DC would have a very clear lead.

Now you're just lying. Although, Deadpool 11 was the greatest Deadpool comic of all time. Speaking of Joe Kelly I kind of miss him. Can he stop making money with MOA for a moment and write another comic. Was I Kill Giants the last thing he did?

No, he did some other creator-owned stuff like Four Eyes after IKG. Four Eyes is awesome too, coincidentally.

Marvel generally has more of a market share. The New 52 allowed DC to overtake Marvel for a few months, but things are evening out now. I suspect Marvel will overtake DC again eventually and things will be back to the way they were. The comic-buying audience just seems to prefer Marvel in the long run.
Yeah, I knew that, I knew that it was just a big stuff that would not last long. Like the fireworks. Shiny but short. It's like Identity crisis, oh and later infinite crisis, oh and later FINAL crisis.... .... So, I still don't get why they rebooted everything. It allowed DC to overtake, right, but on the long term? Since it's obvious to me, to you and to everyone it seems, I wonder what is the logic behind their new 52.
I suppose or can understand that they needed to change things, but I keep thinking the general direction is stupid, has no sense whatsoever, and above all, I think this decision has been taken by big shots not understanding comic very well but willing to sell, and all the Didios and Lees andJohns were only to happy to follow thinking they would bring everything together. "It has to be a way".
I don't follow.
My opinion is just that they burn their universe with a torch: bringing a lot of light for 5 minutes and falling to darkness then. Again.

Wrong, nothing's ever mattered with Deadpool after Joe Kelly left. Nothing. :oldrazz:

LIES! Simone and Nicieza delivered a great Deadpool as well, not as brilliant as Kelly, but still a fantastic delivery. And Lapham's DeadpoolMAX was pure brilliance as well.

What's MOA?

But I agree on Lapham's Deadpool MAX. It's like just when you thought it couldn't top its own insanity, it did, and then it did again, and then it did again, etc.

What's MOA?

Media group started by Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, and Steven T. Seagle. They created Ben 10 and pretty much don't have to work on comics ever again. Thankfully, Casey still pumps out work on a regular basis.

Doesn't Seagle do something too?

Well can you blame them? Comics pay like **** while tv is what pays the bills for a lot of these writers.

I haven't seen anything from him in a while. I know he's suppose to have some sort of graphic novel coming out from Image.

Hell no. I just miss the hell out of their comics, though. I sure would love a new Joe Kelly comic or for Rouleau to finish The Great Unknown.

Well, damn, that is disappointing to hear, I love all those guys. Not particularly surprising to make sure a move, but still.

As of the September solicits:

DC Comics
Action Comics
All Star Western
Batman
Batman Beyond Unlimited
Detective Comics
G.I. Combat
Justice League
National Comics
Smallville Season 11
Sword of Sorcery

Marvel Comics
Amazing Spider-Man (double shipping)
Avengers
Avengers Assemble
Avenging Spider-Man
Captain America
Defenders
Incredible Hulk (double shipping)
Invincible Iron Man
Mighty Thor (double shipping)
New Avengers
Secret Avengers
Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man
Ultimate Comics: Ultimates (double shipping)
Ultimate Comics: X-Men
Uncanny X-Men
Uncanny X-Men (double shipping)
Wolverine
Wolverine & the X-Men (double shipping)
X-Men (double shipping)

My perception was skewed a bit given that 1) I purchase almost nothing from DC these days except for several of their $3.99 books and 2) I've dropped most of Marvel's $3.99 books.

I need to check this out clearly

Fun on a bun

Is Satana still on the cast at the moment?

I loves Satana with so much love in this comic book :atp:

JiM, Hulk, X-Factor and Winter Soldier are all really good as well. And all 3 dollars.

I can't even fathom how people could still read X-Men books. Then again for the most part I find Marvel books boring as ****.

The X men comic books have gotten really good and fun lately I'm really digging them

The stories are good I like the heroes and villains of the cast and best of all for me there are lots of well written lgbt characters which are the kind if character I really love to read about and care about and enjoy reading :)

So I'm loving them right now

Only "X-book" I read is X-Factor. And it's not a true X-Men title in that doesn't really deal with any of the issues the X-Men deals with. Probably why it is so great. Though, I've warmed up to giving Wolverine and the X-Men another try. I read my bro's Uncanny X-Force and I liked a lot of it, but it is bogged down by so much stupid **** Morrison established years ago I couldn't recommend it to anyone with a serious face. Remender himself is great. But all that **** tied to "The World" is f***ing ******ed. Which Morrison established/made retcon.
