Man, today's Button issue really illustrates how messed up Bruce is. His greatest gift ever was a letter from his dead father, but Bruce has a son, Damian. Thomas tells Bruce that he is his greatest gift. I wonder if with some soul searching Bruce will realize that he has to let go of his parents and to an extent Batman to be a better father to his son.
Damn... right in the ****ing feels man.

The thing was pretty cool, but i was dissapointed that they
didnt have him include at least Dick to it...since he is his adoptive son.
Feels a bit like it means nothing to Bruce, when we know it isnt like that.
I like the idea of him letting go of his parents death and being batman because of the hope and all that he can bring as batman.
In general i like a more "Human" batman way more and we see far too little of it.
He gets often made into a guy who doesnt seem to care about his sons and daughters, who is just out there to beat up thugs.

But i personally love the Batman/Bruce Wayne who cares more.

Thank you. I agree that this has always been one of the most neglected narratives in most of Batman's history. When it is addressed (such as the end of the Prodigal/Knightfall storyline) it is heart wrenching. As the father of an adopted son as well as a biological son, I have always felt that the paternal relationship with Dick is untapped. I do however love the fraternal relationship between Dick and Damien and that was one of the reasons that Dick's Batman run was actually a underrated success imho.

I love what they're doing in the current issues of Nightwing. Their relationship is so heartwarming.

Now if only I can get Bruce bonding with Damian and Dick, that would be great.

Deathstroke got an Eisner nomination for best new series.

Well deserved. It has a sophistication that's isn't normally associated with superhero comics. Let alone mainstream big 2 comics. It's a great book. Chris Priest and Quentin Tarantino were twins in another life.

I've enjoyed the first volume. I followed it up with the Deathstroke: Assassins trade collecting some of the Wolfman stories - and I honestly preferred Priest's work to Wolfman's.

That's great! I actually cut Deathstroke due to budget restrictions back when it was twice monthly, but am kind of regretting it now. It was amazing for as long as I followed it, though.

There's a few Batman trades out for Rebirth now...which ones do I need to read to get the full impact of the issue you're talking about? It sounds like a great story.

@ Slade W

What do you think about this?

[BLACKOUT]I'm honestly intrigued... I don't know if this is a response to making Steve Rogers into Captain Nazi or if it's more Rebirth shenanigans. The common thread of all the books is the the Trinity are building an army and supervillains are reforming so to speak. Only thing I'm not digging is the cape on Slade LOL. Never thought I'd say Slade and cape in the same sentence.[/BLACKOUT]

[BLACKOUT]It could be interesting. I have really enjoyed what has been done with him in Rebirth, so I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully his intelligence is still used and he doesn't become reliant on the speed.[/BLACKOUT]

The Button (Batman/Flash crossover).
The most recent Rebirth trade for Batman is vol. 2 which is issues 9-15. The Button crossover is issues 21 and 22.

Rorschach's last journal entry is on November 1. This year, Nov. 1 will be a Wednesday... :sly:

Yeah, I'm pumped for Doomsday Clock.

Originally, I balked at the idea of integrating the Watchmen universe into the DC universe via Rebirth, but I have to say that I've really liked what they've done so far and I'm digging the mysteries they've been laying out across the various titles. The Watchmen bits have been very well-integrated and have felt like natural inclusions into the DC universe. DC's Rebirth has clearly been very well-planned from the start and there's been a rhyme/reason for everything Watchmen-related. Thankfully, it hasn't at all felt like they "jumped the shark" or crossed over with Watchmen "just because".

^ There are Flash #22 spoilers in the article Sawyer posted, so tread carefully. I thankfully bowed out of reading the entire thing.

Very true.

The interview with Johns was great too.

Same. I missed the spoiler warning in the beginning, but luckily stopped while skimming through.

Is there an exhaustive list of comics and issue #s (as they currently exist) for the lead up to Doomsday Clock? I've been told the Rebirth One Shot and Batman/Flash "The Button" crossover.

Anything else?

Watchmen
Flashpoint
DCU Rebirth #1
Superman Reborn (trade wait)
The Button (trade wait)
Maybe all of Dark Days and Dark Nights (which is happening this summer).

Those are the essentials I'm assuming.

What's interesting is that the last issue of Doomsday Clock might line up with Action Comics #1000. Let the speculation begin.

They said the only essentials are DC Rebirth #1 and The Button tho. Could be wrong, but thats what the article said.

I'm interested to read the Superman reborn trade. BTW what's Dark Days/Nights? Is that related to Metal?
