DC to "Rebirth" in June - Part 2

Bleeding Cool is reporting that DC will have an R-rated Elseworlds imprint for mature readers called Black Label. One of the launch titles would be a WW book from Kelly Sue DeConnick.

They also said there are Superman and Batman titles in the works as well.

Is that the line Bendis is supposed to be cooking up?

Instead of this Black Label imprint and the Young Animal imprint, I'd rather they make the effort to restore Vertigo to its former glory. Also, a "Rated R" Superman or Wonder Woman book seems completely unnecessary. That said, Kelly Sue DeConnick on WW sounds amazing.

R rated Superman???
I guess it's more in the lines of Red Son and the recent Batman: White Knight.

Well, the Vertigo relaunch is coming later this year. BC also reports that there are Sandman spin-offs in the works from Vertigo to be curated by Gaiman.

More news at this weekend's ECCC supposedly.

Personally I wouldn't mind a more mature Superman book. I think it could work mainly because Superman wouldn't be the reason for it being R rated or a mature reading it would be the villains and their language and just some of the violence.

If they were applying that to WW/Superman/Action, I'd agree, but if they're Elseworlds tales, who cares? At their worst, they'll likely be one-offs and completely isolated from the main line.

Bring back Sandman Mystery Theatre! With Matt Wagner! :argh:

Exactly, it will more or less be like their MAX line where nothing takes place in the main DCU and it just is their own thing or world.

Anybody read Action Comics this week? I had to laugh at the

Just the idea of associating those characters with "mature content", elseworlds or not, doesn't sit right with me. And I say this as a person who is a big fan of mature content.

But, whatever, DC gonna do what DC does.

Every new cover gets me used more to the trunks...even though in the back of my head i cant help but to laugh about how dumb it also looks.

DC Unveils All-Star 'Black Label' Imprint
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/dc-black-label-imprint-unveiled-1092933

SUPERMAN: YEAR ONE from Frank Miller and John Romita Jr.
BATMAN: LAST KNIGHT ON EARTH from Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo
BATMAN: DAMNED from Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo
WONDER WOMAN HISTORIA: THE AMAZONS from Kelly Sue DeConnick and Phil Jimenez
WONDER WOMAN: DIANA’S DAUGHTER (working title) from Greg Rucka
THE OTHER HISTORY OF THE DC UNIVERSE from John Ridley

Another Azzarello/Bermejo Elsewords Batman book is so hnnnnggghhh for me, especially because it sounds like it'll be a sequel of sorts to their JOKER graphic novel (which I loved).

"BATMAN: DAMNED from Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo, the creative team behind JOKER On a deserted Gotham City bridge, a body is found. Whispers spread the news: Joker is dead. But is this a dream come true or a nightmare being born? Now Batman and DC’s outlaw magician John Constantine must hunt the truth through a Gotham City hellscape. The city’s supernatural recesses are laced with hints about a killer’s identity, but the Dark Knight’s descent into horror will test his sanity and the limits of rationality, as he must face a horror that doesn’t wear a mask."
