Stripping away all her comic book powers and looks is an example of Deadpool not being accurate outside of the main character.

Amazing movie but outside of Deadpool and Colossus CGI/Fighting/Accent the movie isn't very "comic book accurate" imo.

The movie is comic book accurate in sense it focuses on the core essence of Deadpool and his world. It's not too focused on the more superficial things like Ajax or Vanessa's appearances or powers. Or Weasel or Blind Al. But then, their personalities are spot on.

The film makers clearly have a love and respect to the source material. But they are not 100% beholden to every single tiny little detail... which is the correct way to do things.

That's not true.

Vanessa isn't a mutant yet when she starts her relationship with Wade and he volunteers/goes to the workshop in the comics. Nessa turning into Copycat comes later.

The story the film uses pretty much comes from Joe Kellys Deadpool #-1. Which is just one issue and happens before New Mutants 98 and the later X-Force issues when she is discovered to be a mutant and shapeshifter. First impersonating Domino, with the relationship with Wade already being done. The story on what happened in-between those issues was never really told.

The film hits pretty much every beat on Deadpool's origin. But just adds stuff since ya know it's only one issue. So instead of Vanessa just being a prostitute who cries when Wade leaves, she is much more developed. But the Copycat stuff comes later one way way or the other.

I never said it wasn't. The original exchange was just about Characters costume looks

I know CopyCat's origin she's always been a mutant not a created mutate like Deadpool. Turning humans into mutants is stupid & uneccasary to me. It also makes mutants unspecial if you can just create them whenever. Vanessa shouldve already been a mutant. I don't agree with the change.

I especially don't like female damsel in distress in cbm, that's why X-MEN is so superior in theory imo because women & men get powers in X-Men. Don't like her being just human. But that's just me

But hopefully she gets powers somehow. Deadpool & CopyCat sex scene with her shape shifting into famous people could make ppl forget about the holiday sex scene

Again you are wrong and who is arguing that she was a mutate and not a mutant?

Here is what you are failing to get... She is not a mutant yet when she meets Wade in the book this film is based on . This is not comic inaccurate. She was most certainly not Copycat and showed no sign of powers. The only book you should be referencing is The End Of Wade Wilson by Joe Kelly, cause that is where the film grabbed everything. She has no reason to be Copycat yet if we are going by Deadpool comics, and she looks 100% human the whole time in that book with zero mention of powers.

Now if you wanna call her hair not comic accurate...:o

She is not a mutant yet when she meets Wade. Again, this is not comic inaccurate. She was not Copycat and showed no sign of powers on the comic this film is based around which is Deadpool #-1 The End Of Wade Wilson by Joe Kelly. Your argument on her is wrong.

Why are you bringing up Deadpool 0? Idc about retcons, Copycat was created years before #0

CopyCat is shown plenty of times years before Deadpool 0 which is what I'm referring to so miss me with your technicalities. X-Force was like 5 years before that retcon and CopyCat is shown as a mutant in Deadpools first mini from years before Deadpool 0.

Why am I bringing up the comic this film is based on? Because that's the origin of these characters. There is no retcon so what are you talking about?

It's Deadpool minus 1. An origin of Wade and Vanessas relationship. That's what this whole film is based on dude along with the Deadpool and Death annual. That -1 was the only book to go into how Vanessa and him met. Which takes place years before X-Force, before Wade is Deadpool and before Nessa is CopyCat.

I don't get why you are confused by this. When Wade starts seeing Vanessa Pre Deadpool in the comics she is not showing any powers or going by Copycat. It's as simple as that. That story happens later. If Nessa becomes Copycat in Deadpool 2, it's accurate.

Just a thought, but maybe it's a bit more fair to judge the accuracy of the film on the issues it's based on. Which are the mentioned Deadpool comics.

Cause even if she was a mutant right at the moment of her birth, it would and should still be unaware to Wade and the audience in order to be accurate. Their relationship when she is known to Deadpool as a shapeshifting merc is quite the contrast that should not be introduced immediately. Otherwise that would have made this film inaccurate and much different.

Just a thought, but maybe you should try reading the actual issues that this film is based on before making assumptions on how inaccurate they are.

Or here's a another thought? Don't assume I haven't read the comics when I clearly have.

My original point before you started this with me was she didn't LOOK like CopyCat from the comics.

It's funny how now the point changed to Wade didn't know she was a mutant.

No, it was an IF. Stop trying to twist everything.

Then why the heck are you arguing this? As her being a mutant or looking like Copycat in the story this is based on is non existent.

Your whole argument has been comic accuracy, so why not use the source material for this film as your point? I don't get it.

I'm not twisting anything CopyCat is a mutant. Her powers manifest normally in puberty like all other mutants and isn't a mutate & created like Deadpool.

I'm not arguing anything you keep quoting me. She is a mutant in -1 even if she's not blue.

A director putting his own stamp on stuff doesn't make it wrong.

Even in comics, different writers and artists put their own stamp on the characters and their looks, and change some stuff around to suit their strenghts.

Not making Vanessa a mutant or toning down the design for Ajax is a deliberate stylistic choice. Doesn't make it wrong. The team probably pondered for months on how to tackle some issues, and went for what's best for the movie.

The important thing is staying true to the core and the heart of the characters. And they totally delivered with the first movie. It is a faithful movie, in the sense that it perfectly captures what we all loved about the Deadpool comics and put it on the big screen.

Anything else is just nitpicking. I really can't imagine any Deadpool fan having problems with the movie they've made.

She is a mutant in -1 even if she's not blue.

Then it's completely justified that Vanessa isn't explicitly stated to be a mutant in the movie because that isn't brought up in -1 either.

Eh... She has no problem saying her uncles raped her but not that her family disowned her because she's a mutant?

Seems kinda farfetched. Vanessa isn't a mutant in the film like she is in the comics doubt she's hiding it at all.

Now that was an interesting and constructive conversation. I can learn a few things from you. Just 'sighing' at people would save me a lot of time. I should do that, instead of trying to come up with an actual answer.

And I got that you had said that you like the movie.

And besides that. I always thought that they should make Vanessa human for the movie, am glad the writers agreed with me, and it served the story and movie beautifully. It makes the story and their relationship much more relatable.

One thing I don't particularly like about a lot of modern comic book movies and TV series is THAT. EVERY. DAMN. CHARACTER. is a hero/superhero or at least an 'action character.' It's nice to see common people again in these kind of movies. I also enjoyed that in Ant-Man.

No, the other way around is farfetched.
Being raped by an uncle is a far more common story. Heck, that was treated as a joke in the context of the movie.

In any case, if she's hiding it, it's no different from all the times that's happened nor in adaptations when it's also all about new developments.

And she probably wasn't even raped by her unlce. It's a game Wade and Vanessa play.

She wasn't. Just another example of irony used to reinforce clichés.

Yeah. It's pretty clear that they're making up those stories on the spot. Man, Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick did a wonderful job with the characters.

They should have gotten a nomination imo.
