Deadpool 2 Deadpool 2 News and Discussion

Armor was my first guess.

We do need more villains though...

For sure, my reply wasn't putting your post down or anything. I was just replying to the general discussion that Siryn can't somehow exist without Banshee on film. That's just not true. They would just need to establish her and Tom at this point cause Banshee was wasted and not important for Deadpool like Tom and Siryn are.
Hisako could be the friend for NTW that you and I were discussing before though. I've only really read her in Astonishing X-Men, so I have no idea the limits of her powers, but could she be used against Juggy perhaps? She and Colossus could go up physically against him.

(I'm also weirdly considering her as Siryn, but I doubt they'd do that. Can't think of a villain at this time either.)

That's all I got right now. :o

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing with the NTW friend. Colossus is already the muscle force though, not sure why they would choose Armor going over it a bit. She's a great character though.

Really want to know the villains here with there being so many hero ass kicking power houses. Hope we get more info soon. Usually Reynolds announces once someone is announced casted. Playing it more secretive this go around.

There's also Surge too, so she could be that. But there does seem to be quite a few heavy-hitter members this go around.

Ryan only announces the people we know are coming (Dom/Cable) so I don't think he'll announce anything and neither will Rhett. They'll just let the trades take their course. All 3 X-projects will probably be working (relatively) quietly like Logan did.

And an approach like that can work to build up suspense and anticipation, given how it paid off for Logan.

That and maybe Fox is trying to avoid what happened when the first photos of Apocalypse surfaced. But I imagine with Deadpool 2 in particular, they're going to be more secretive, but also like Mangold did with Logan, be quick to smack down rumors, as Rhett Reese did with the X-Force rumor.

It's pretty obvious.

Shioli Kutsuna is playing Psylocke!!!

They are paving the way for an X-Force movie. So it makes sense to introduce her now.

But the continuity is a mess...

Mei Malacon as Psylocke in X3

Olivia Munn as Psylocke in "X:Men Apacolypse"

Now, we have.......

Shioli Kutsuna as Psylocke in "Deadpool 2".

She will Also appear in X-Force and Zhang Ziyi will portray her.:o

Don't think the first Apocalypse pic was too big of a deal, but it will be interesting to see how Fox markets New Mutants/Dark Phoenix, mostly because they'll be the four-quadrant PG-13 stuff and it'll be different compared to the marketing for Deadpool/Logan, which could double down on certain tonal characteristics of the film for the marketing.

Fox can just let War for the Planet of the Apes, Kingsman 2, Red Sparrow, Orient Express and Greatest Showman do the talking for them the rest of the year though. Keep the three X-films hidden until later on in the year like Logan was.

True, Fox is spoken for as far as content for the year, but hopefully there's at least something X-related at Comic Con, even if it's just the casts coming on stage.

Gonna throw my hat in the ring and guess that Shioli Kutsuna is Death.

Keep in mind Kutsuna isn't necessarily even playing a character who was originally Japanese in the comics.

Deadpool 2 already had a teaser and a ton of announcements though, part of the huge appeal is the social media marketing campaign with all the cast so I don't think it will be similar to Logan. It's social media presence its the strongest out there and as self aware as Was himself. It was a game changing campaign that other studios film marketing wish they had.

With Logan there wasn't even X-23 confirmation till late in the game. Did Dark Phoenix even officially announce Kinberg as Director?

Logan also had a strong, unique media presence and social media campaign. By working quietly I mean they'll keep the plot under wraps and details about key elements undisclosed throughout the duration of principle photography, especially since the script isn't leaked this time. They'll have the usual behind the scenes pic from certain cast and the usual pap photos from outdoor shooting (as Hugh did for Logan), they just won't go about releasing big press releases etc.

As you've said, Ryan has already given us a lot and there's already a ton of hype. He's not gonna need to constantly feed the hype machines. We probably won't know key deets for awhile until the marketing machine kicks into gear.

True, though my reply was more in response to the sentiment that all of the X-projects, not just Deadpool 2, will probably work quietly. And while Deadpool 2 will no doubt have great marketing, I'm more so thinking about New Mutants and Dark Phoenix moving along quietly.

Ryan and both Josh's have given us plenty regarding their respective X-films, Boone even moreso than Ryan I might argue. Both can go afford to go dark for awhile as cameras roll.

Logan had a solid campaign but nothing is Deadpool level. Would make no sense to go that route instead of following up with what they did with Deadpool 1. That had the whole industry talking.

I agree they won't be releasing key plot details. But I don't think they will ignore the actors and characters they are playing as that should be put into the social campaign, that wasn't really the case with Logan which was pretty much just Mangold and Jackman. Brolin is already having a strong presence on social media. Then we have Ryan, TJ, Briana, Morena etc I don't imagine it to be a quiet campaign. Everybody usually joins in the fun on this one.

Nothing is DP-level I agree, I'm just saying we probably won't see the funnier more meta ads for awhile. The little photoshops of Josh/Zazie, workout videos and Ryan's occasional pics are just the right amount until later on in the year. Esp if there's no SDCC appearance.

Anyword on if Fox will have a pane for their X properties at SDCC?

Nope. None of the 3 films have started filming either so who knows if they even will too.

The schedule should come out in a few weeks though so we'll know for certain then.

Gotcha. Hope so, they got a solid line up next year.

At the very least, Legion and Gifted will be there, since Fox TV operates separately from the films.
