Deadpool Deadpool News and Discussion - Part 1

Gotta be honest, I like the test footage better than this trailer. Him singing along with Gwen Stefani, looking into the camera to deliver the "red costume" line, the interaction inside of the car while he's fighting the goons, the window rolling down after he cuts off the guys head, the lines after that. I thought all of that was much better than what we see in the trailer. I wouldn't have changed that scene to be honest.

That said, there were some great parts here too. The 3 guys getting taken down with one bullet, some of the jokes were pretty good, the action looks like it will be great and Colossus looks better in this movie than he ever did in any of the X-Men movies. Much more comic accurate Colossus.

Definitely looking forward to this movie but I do worry about it flopping. This is a niche movie, alot of people aren't going to like it and not just because it's rated R. There is a certain target audience that will love it, but there some people that won't have the stomach for it and then there is the conservative types who will just hate it for all the violence/swearing and dick jokes.

End of the day though, I don't care, just hope it makes enough for a sequel or two, because Deadpool is an awesome character and it looks like they're going in the right direction for the most part.

I agree that they should have left that scene how it was. I liked it better and it's the reason the film is made, no need to change. But that's a minor complaint from me, I still enjoyed it

This was a chopped up version of how that scene is now gonna play out. The test footage wasn't meant to be a chopped up trailer. We have no idea how the pacing will play or even the full scene now except that 2 lines were moved and there's a different song.

It's gotta make under 100m worldwide to flop. Only Marvel movies to make under 100m ww are Punisher and Elektra. This has significant more interest then those films, and Deapdool has a much larger fanbase, sells way more merch then both those characters and trends around current social media way more. Not to mention Marvel films and the international box office have had significant more interest in general from the general audience since those films.

I really don't think this is as risky as a few think.

Regarding that leaked trailer, I'm not really a fan of gore and violence.

Not my cup of tea.

There is so much gore and violence in that trailer that it really turns me off.

I know they're aiming for an "R" rating, but I don't think you really need to have a lot of gore and violence in order to make a good superhero movie.

Deadpool isn't a superhero and this won't be a regular superhero movie. This is the movie that spits in the face of the other superhero films.

Don't worry he won't be drawing anything on camera I imagine lol. Besides, he gave us Deadpool so he ain't so bad.
They should have made him some failed lab experiment in the background with anatomy defying muscles and no feet.

It wasn't even that brutal. The most graphic scenes were headshots, and that's pretty much it. It's not like we saw limbs getting chopped off or people's guts spilling out.

The issue isn't "good superhero movie," the issue is "good Deadpool movie." Deadpool has always been on the violent side.

Seriously. The guy is scarred like Freddy Kreuger, is known for being a **** talking troll and he gets paid to kill people. Plus he himself gets shot and chopped up all the time since he can't die and you have to show his extreme healing factor. Even if this was Pg-13 they would be pushing all that stuff to the limits.

Lots of violence and humor comes with the property.

While I agree with this, I also have to say that I hope they don't go overboard just for the sake of going overboard. You know what I mean? I understand there will bill a good portion of swearing, but it doesn't have to be in every line or sentence or it gets in the way of the story itself. Same goes for gore. Violence and amount of gore will obviously come with a Deadpool adaptation, but at the same time I don't want them to go down the road of the horror porn franchises like Hostel and the like that just made the most bizzare ghoulish things boring

If they do it'll be satirical. But I have seen movies where they go overboard on the gore and nudity and claim they're taking a swipe at that type of **** when they're really just using it as an excuse to do it.

I can see this being divisive.

Those who don't get Deadpool might think it's juvenile and too violent or offensive and dislike it for that reason, basically they'd be happier with a more in-accurate movie

I hope the violence and swearing will be on the same level as the action movies of the good 'ol 80's and 90's.

There are plenty/most of CBM's that are non-violence and non-gore, surely one or two with these things cant be a bad thing to keep things interesting, variety can only be a good thing. I think most people wanted a hard R for this so its great its got it, now use it!!

Yea being raised on 80s action/horror movies there's never to much swearing or violence.

I can't think of a movie that had so much it took me out of the story. Probably is one just can't think of it off the top my help.

I think the idea of non violent superhero movies is silly I mean they fight that's what heros do.

If movies like The Hangover, Bridesmaids, and Ted can make $500 million worldwide, I see no reason why this movie can't; society is no longer so offended by swears and blood that it's all that risky to go hard-R with this.
If it's actually funny, and they advertise it like they would an R-comedy, I think this could easily make Ted's Box Office plus an extra $100 mil from the "I will go see ANY superhero movie" crowd

It's going to have similar reactions to Kick-Ass I suspect.

The first Kick-Ass was critically acclaimed, though. Sure, some people thought it went too far, but the general consensus was positive.

I hope I don't end up disliking this movie. The test footage and the trailer haven't really convinced me it's anything but a cavalcade of so-so jokes and the occasional fourth wall being broken.

Speaking about the general audience I was talking to my co-worker yesterday who isn't a geek whatsoever and it went like this.

Co-worker: "So I'm guessing you saw all those trailers from Comic Con?"

Me:" Yea."

CW: "Did you see the best one?"

Me:"BvS or Suicide Squad?"

CW: "No, Deadpool!"

This trailer got a lot of good press coming out of Comic Con. I think that good buzz hasn't only gotten out to the geek community but the rest of the audience at large as well. Also before this movie was green lit Deadpool was bar none the most popular Marvel character without a film. If you go to cons he is the most cosplayed male character and unlike X-men and FF is a character who Marvel is always making merchandise for because it sells. I think given these factors and it's release date, Deadpool will do just fine.

Ryan's tweets are LOL.

People were so upset they put nipples on the Batsuit. It's why we made the Deadpool suit EXCLUSIVELY out of nipples.

The thing is, I think Deadpool can be critically acclaimed like Kick-Ass, and it might have a group of people it doesn't click with just like Kick-Ass. We'll just have to wait and see.

Yea Deadpool has always been a polarizing character. But i do think there is a pretty big audience for this kinda movie. One that basically craps all over the "goody two shoes" superheroes and the whole superhero movie formula.

Even if it is "dudebros" and ********s like that lol. Plus there is fans of this kind of action film, where it's less CGI explosions and more practical with shoot outs and martial arts etc.

Oh yeah, I could see that. I don't think Deadpool will be nearly as good as Kick-Ass but that's a whole different matter :funny:
