Deadpool Deadpool News and Discussion - Part 2

X-continuity confusing? So a con the same way it is in the X-films? I can live with that.

Ha! I was thinking the same thing. The X-Men film franchise is my favorite Marvel film franchise...but even I can admit the continuity is "loose" to be kind about it. But since DOFP, the continuity should be fairly easy to follow.

So whatever timeline Deadpool is set in, I'm sure it won't be as confusing as previously thought.

The viewer was confused when in the X-Men timeline Deadpool takes place after DOFP.

Personally I think it's fairly obvious just through the trailers that's it's set in modern time post DOFP. But whatever, this issue is always gonna come up, best just to ignore it and enjoy the film imo.

The continuity is an issue with fanboys, not really the GA. So I don't really take it seriously as a con in terms of impacting people's enjoyment of the film.

Deadpool could be set before the future ending of DOFP.it's suspose to be In 2023 while it's been thought Deadpool would be present day 2015/2016 so deadpool could make present day comments when breaking the 4th wall.

If Deadpool does well enough to warrent sequel, the sequel may be tied a bit more to X-Men going by reported ending.

I agree for the most part. Everything happening now is a clean slate and that's that, and the films quality is all that matters. Though continuity does play itself into the storylines now thanks to DOFP, the GA has to be aware of that. They full on erased 3 movies. And **** doesn't add up for anyone who's willing to try.

That said, I couldn't post the link and didn't want to type a paragraph. The viewer didn't go on and on about it. They were just confused and it was one of the few things mentioned that was more on the negative side of things. Even the things they were not thrilled about didn't sound that bad. The cons/complaints were extremely minimal.

Reynolds is trying too hard. He's a naturally funny guy, but all the jokes are coming off way too forced.

Junkie XL's score for Fury Road was really good!

and

And oh my Deadpool visiting the X-Men's crib.... I'm looking forward to that the most!

Am I wrong to assume that 2nd trailer comes out this month or early November then final trailer in January?

I'm excited for this movie; It's no secret that 20th Century Fox is struggling right now with the X-men (expecially now that Fantastic 4 has proved to be an unmitigated disaster) and between this film and 'Gambit' (and the shadow of Wolverine moving away from the series) this could be just the breath of fresh air Fox needs to create a strong X-men universe. This is fine by me because of all Marvel's wandering properties X-men is the one that I think doesn't fit with the main universe and benefits from existing seperately.
This film looks fun, edgy (I normally hate that word but it applies here), high energy and bringing in JunkieXL to score it is just the icing on the cake.

How are they struggling with X-Men, the last film was their most successful ever? LOL

Fantastic Four is a different story.

Fantastic Four is a different story.

Next year Fox has three X-men films planned: Gambit is struggling, Deadpool being R-rated is not going to make as much money as your typical PG-13 film is, X-Men Apocalypse is a gamble since it's not only ending the old series but it's supposedly a relaunch of a new X-Men universe. And then on top of all this Hugh Jackman is stepping down from one of the most iconic superhero performances of all time which may loose them some fans.
This is a very tricky time for Fox right now.

Deadpool cost between 40-60m. It doesn't need to make as much money as a $150m budget PG-13 comic film. If Deadpool makes 200m ww or even Fant4stic's final gross it's a hit for Fox.

It's really not that risky.

I hope it's good enough &makes enough money to warrant a sequel with a bigger budget

They aren't. If they are, Hellion, Legion, The New Mutants, X-Force Deadpool and Gambit wouldn't even be in scripting stage.

And if Deadpool truly has $40 to $60 million budget... I guess we could prepare ourselves already for a Deadpool trilogy. The first film would at least earn $300 million worldwide and thats enough for a sequel to be greenlit.

Fox just released a R-rated film this year which earned more than $400 million worldwide. Ever heard of Kingsman: The Secret Service? Even Spy performed decent. Not only that Deadpool is a Marvel/X-Men property... the buzz for it is so good. Unless it sucks I don't see it underperforming.

Is this movie part of the marvel cinematic universe, or is Deadpool going to be a desperate thing like X men?

Its part of the X-Men film series.

And no its not a desperate thing but we are entitled to our own opinions.

I think that was a typo and he meant separate.

I think that random Ben Hur movie has been delayed, so more breathing space for Deadpool. Star Wars would have slowed down by February I hope.

Yeah, it got moved to August.

Don't think there's much that will put up competition with Deadpool in Feb.

I have a feeling that Deadpool will dominate February 2016 at the box-office.

Daredevil and Kingsman both opened around 40m during Feb, so I think we will see a repeat here. Though the hype for Deadpool is much stronger then both those films.

Hoping for a 50-60m opening weekend.
