Deadpool Deadpool News and Discussion - Part 4

Don't these X- films imply that pretty much all mankind has at least dormant mutant genes? I remember the first film explaining that mutants were just the next step of human evolution.

Seems to me that the serum in this film is the catalyst for the mutant gene to activate. Along with the torture it forces the human to "evolve"... if the body can take it.

That's how I interpreted it - Wade already had the X-gene in his body and the serum + oxygen deprivation were the catalysts that activated it. How I understood the workshop was that they were looking for people with the gene and the ones they experimented on that didn't have it simply died.

Nope. He wasn't. He was a human. The serum was injected to activate mutant genes in a human body. They could've chosen you, and the serum would have activated mutant genes in your body.

It *could* activate latent mutant genes. It wasn't guaranteed that it would. It could be because you didn't have any latent genes, or it just didn't manage to turn them on, or you just didn't survive enough trauma for it to trigger.

I tend to figure its probably a case of "everyone is a latent mutant, some people are just more latent than others", but your mileage may vary.

well the serum was injected to change in DNA structure, with the concept that it will cause gene mutation and then give the extra ordinary powers to combat with any other power and also create such genetic mutation having powerful structure to regenerate..

but one thing more when he have the abilities to regenerate so why he couldnt regenerate his facial tissue to bring his original looks back

It's a side effect of the treatment. In the comics it's his cancer which keeps regenerating constantly.

Maybe. Not necessarily. You don't feel in pain when a cancer forms in your body. Otherwise people would notice immediatly that something's wrong, and most of the time they don't.

But maybe there was a story or two in the comics where he talked about being in constant pain - or am I making that up?

I dunno, I thought I read somewhere. I was just curious is all. Even if he was, he would probably be used to it the amount of times he gets cut up, blown up, shot, stabbed etc..

Yep. By the way, I liked the little touch of him using painkillers after he cuts his hand off.

lol yeah and him caressing Al's face with the little midget hand was possibly the most disturbing and hilarious part of the whole film, imo

I'm not the only one who didn't notice, right? DAMN!

Ha nice, you can tell the people involved making this actually gave a damn about the property with neat little touches like that.

Finally saw it today. This had to be the funniest superhero flick I've ever seen.

I do think there is a lot of potential to expand, aside from the jokes (which were great for the most part) you can tell they were limited somewhat by their budget.

The sequel with a somewhat bigger budget should make all the difference.

ps. I'm surprisingly happy for Ryan Reynolds. Ever since I saw him in Buried I knew he had potential to break out just needed the right project.

I finally got to rewatch the film, and the method they use is actually pretty clear:

They inject the mutant genes via serum, and then the adrenaline is the catalyst for the mutant gene (from the serum) to activate.

Yeah Ryan is my all time favorite and he proved himself the best in deadpool
