Deadpool Deadpool Spin-off Confirmed - Part 2

Reynolds took GL because he saw dollar signs and it backfired horrendously.

If he didn't jump on GL and had more prudent choices this film would probably be further along right now.

He'll regret doing GL for the rest of his life. It effectively killed his career just as it started to gain momentum.

Deadpool was suppsed to be released before Lantern though. And Reynolds has been 100% involved in the whole preocess. Dude was even involved when it was back at New Line. It's a huge passion project for him. It's why he is still allegedly involved. If Deadpool was green lit back when it was supposed to be I guarantee you he would have not been in Lantern. Of course he took that for cash. But Deadpool has always been that guys priority.

Signed,

Just watched the leaked 2 minute Deadpool video.

Absolutely P E R F E C T !!!!!!!!!!

I need this movie NOW!!!!!!

Hey, studio who owns Deadpool, you need to know that with the R rating, if you do it right, like this test footage shows, people like me will be seeing this 2 to 3 times in the theater!!! You'll get your moneys worth!!!!!

^ You'll need to see it three or four times because an R rating rules out family visits to the cinema to see this movie.

It's a movie about a horribly scarred foul mouthed merc who gets cancer, then tortured and murdered over and over. The kiddies will want to see this for obvious reasons. But I doubt this is supposed to be a movie the whole family gets taken to.

Lets not act like all R rated films need to be re watched 4 times for a film to be successful , this will have a qurater of most blockbusters budgtes and definitely make it's money back.

I like talking about Reynolds' career a lot. I think it's interesting. He hasnt made a lot of good movies, but I still feel like generally people like him.

Im not gonna say he'll never become a big star. I mean we all hated Channing Tatum and we wrote off Matthew McConoughey (sp) but theyre doing really well now. Reynolds has the talent and as I said people generally like him he just needs that next big role. I would tell him to go back and do a straight forward comedy, but he tried that with The Change Up and that backfired. I would say to stay away from bigger action movies.

But yeah taking GL did screw up the chances for Deadpool. I never thought, even if GL was a success, that he would do both roles.

Blur officially released the footage!

Really smart of them I think.

Yeah, definitely a smart move. They can't stop it and it's very well received. Might as well show the HQ version and build the hype.

Edit: Now it's gone... WTF!

You are tearing me apart FOX!!

Yes, hopefully a low budget for this, though it could escalate a little if they start adding in familiar characters to broaden appeal.

At present, it's not clear where it sits in the timeline.

But I have no objection to them doing an R-rated movie and making it true to the books.

"Oh, f**k me..."

Glorious.

It's pretty friggen rad!

Even has a shout out to Tom Rothman :hehe:

Tbh after watching that video in good quality I have to say the cgi motion capture is very impressive, I wonder whether that was always the idea to do motion capture to capture his look right

And I also can't imagine them making a big deal out of deadpool being in the X-men universe since that video alone goes into more comedy that winks to the audience and its hard to see the 2 mixing

The film is live action. But the Director Tim Miller owns Blur studios and is responsible for some of the most awesome game cinematics out there. It's some really impressive test footage. They also do alot of effects so I imagine that will keep the budget down having someone like him Directing it. Deadpool will have to be CGI in certain scenes just as Spidey is.

The thing with using Deadpool in X-Force and X-Men films is that you just can't do the fourth wall breaking in large amounts if at all. He will still will work and be the scene stealer that he is but Deadpool's extreme traits come from the story being from his pov.

That's another reason why he needs his own film. You just can't take advantage on why people like the character. X-Force is perfect because those are the characters he needs to be around. But shoving him into to something like Apocaylpse when there are already gonna be tons of characters and villains is not gonna give him his due. Dude needs his own movie and then show up in either Wolverine or X-Force if they want to do it right. Or introduce him in X-Force first where he can still be a main character. But that flick has sounded like it's done.

Lmao that Tom Rothman shout out gets me every time. "Oh F--K me."

LOL

I think that DP could revitalize his career. Reynolds' is massively talented, he just doesn't choose the best projects. I will say that although he's been in what are considered pretty awful movies, I like the bulk of his career (The Nines, Amityville, Waiting, Just Friends, Van Wilder, Smokin Aces.) Hell, tbh I enjoy GL. :o

But yeah, he needs Deadpool.

He has some great smaller films coming out. One called Voices with Anna Kendrick and Gemma Arterton. Which sounds friggen insane. It's by the Director of Persepolis. And he's also working with Tarsem as well on a film.

The character of Deadpool will be the main sell. The projects needs Reynolds as far as I'm concerned. Without him our chances of getting a legit film would be even lower.

This is getting a lot of buzz. Hope Fox take note and get this movie greenlit. While they may not be sitting on a gold mine they're sitting on a lot of goodwill waiting to be tapped

Anything can be a gold mine. This is all about making good films and marketing your character. Deadpool needs to be setup as a new franchise. If this thing hits , then they will have a gold mine and a new property that will help sell bigger films like X-Force. 50m is nothing, they can definitely grab that cash back. Worst case would be it makes it back on video and they reap the benefits later. Cause this flick is gonna be one that grabs an audience. There has never been an R rated Marvel character with the already made appeal or popularity of Deadpool. We are also in the time GOTG is a huge budgeted movie. Now that was a risk. As was Iron Man. Deadpool has the benfit of the studio not losing much if not anything at all.

If Fox wants that expanded Universe then its time to start building the universe accordingly. That means making films that are not called X-Men, Wolveirne or Fantastic Four into new proerties. Deadpool is the most popular and obvious one, time to get moving.

The test footage made me re-read my Deadpool comics. So amazing. Now give me the damn rated R movie FOX.

In the end it depends on the budget they give the movie and whether they make it back with profit, it's still R rated after all which means kids or early teens won't be putting money towards it, and it will also depends on who it's aimed at and who will likely see it

A film like ted is an R rated comedy and the budget was 50 mil and it made 540 mil so its possible it could do very well if they could push the comedy and get it noticed but in the end is deadpool that well known in the public eye? And I don't mean the small % of comic book readers that probably couldn't make the money back alone

I personally think they should take the risk but I don't think its as cut and dry as many would like to believe really

Random thought:

Green Lantern kind of destroyed Ryan's career. Daredevil nearly destroyed Ben's career (not saying he was bad because he wasn't).

Ryan's ****** (by the public) superhero film got him a fine ass wife. Ben's ****** (by the public) superhero film got him a fine ass wife.

Ben's favorite superhero is Batman and he looks badass as the Bat. Ryan's favorite is Deadpool and based off the test footage, he looks perfect.

Maybe Deadpool will be Ryan's redemption if it gets made of course.

nice comparision. Im sure Ryan would make justice to Deadpool, and its one of those characters that would make the audience laugh and end loving him, so hopefully he gets the chance to play this role again the way it should and the audience and critics will fall in love with him again, or at least, for the very first time
