Deadpool & Wolverine Deadpool & Wolverine Spoiler Thread

Okay after carefully reviewing what happened to Logan in this universe, and what he did. I didn't get all the details clear until now, but as it was explained in the film, Logan left the X-Mansion drunk, and his fellow X-Men were murdered by humans. By the time he came back to the mansion, it was too late, so he went on a rampage, killing the attackers, but also KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE--why? This I have a huge problem with. Also have questions about why he killed innocent people, but who were they and was it accidental or was he just being careless?

So I have to assume the mid credit scene from The Marvels will be paid off in one of the forthcoming avenger movies, because it doesn’t appear to happen in this one

I haven't seen the film, so I don't know what the montage is.
I just saw this montage and ughhh. I didn't expect it to hit me as hard. I thought it was just random scenes done in 10 seconds for the credits, but it was more than that. They showed the previous X-Men and the Fantastic Four movies. I was so young back then. I grew up with those movies, rewatched them so many times and I was rooting for them so badly.

I loved the FoXverse, FoXverse is my friend!

And how none of you mentioned Psylocke... I instantly noticed the woman behind Human Torch and thought her hair and outfit looked a bit Psylocke.....

Then she whipped her glowing purple lasso in the third act. :psylocke:

Its been 8 years since I last saw Psylocke in the big screen and I was not anticipating an appearance! And I was literally shaking in my chair because of the 4dX.

The cameos/references were all great.

It does feel like Marvel Studios paid respect/honor to the previous Marvel movies regardless how good or bad they were. Blade, Elektra, Chris Evans as Human Torch and Channing Tatum finally appearing as Gambit.... Marvel Studios are already successful and they didn't need to do those but they still did.

I feel like the Blade trilogy, Elektra (+ Daredevil) and the previous Fantastic Four movies finally came full circle, even though those movies had nothing to do with the MCU in the first place. I also loved how they joked that Hugh Jackman entered the MCU in a bad time. It feels like every Marvel movie now are connected. Only few films like Ghost Rider and The Punisher aren't represented yet, but even The Punisher was mentioned in the movie.

Jennifer Garner looks outrageously good in this. The new costume, wielding the sais once again... I loved it.
Okay I'm still processing the movie but I can't believe this is actually the first time I saw Jennifer Garner as Elektra and Wesley Snipes as Blade in the big screen. It feels so surreal.

I am a not a fan of the Blade films but I have seen them several times when I was marathoning Marvel films. Actually I didn't need to buy Blade 1/2 because my mom bought those movies for herself. I only found they were Marvel sometime later.

Then with Elektra - Daredevil 2003 came out before X2, and X2 was my 1st Marvel movie in the cinemas. When Elektra the movie came out, I was only 15 at that time and I remember seeing online ads from it from Yahoo. During those times I had to ask my mom to accompany me in theaters (which she did with Spider-Man 2/Catwoman). The first Marvel movie I saw by myself was X3, since I already turned 16 at that month. I was so young when those movies came out.... I don't even buy physical copies of movies anymore.

If someone told me, I would have seen Deadpool, the Wolverine, X-23, Gambit, Elektra and Blade in a freaking group shot right after Endgame, I would have thought it was a joke...that group shot was sooo good! If only they didn't kill Human Torch so soon but they still saved him in the post credits scene.

And oh when they came out, it was one by one BANG BANG BANg, I was already spoiled but I didn't know in which scene, they were entering... I was expecting to see X23 in that scene. But no, its Elektra, then Blade then Gambit..... that scene was just.... too much!!!

The Chris Evans cameo was so funny and well played with the bait and switch but man when Wesley fudging Snipes walked out into the scene I think my head nearly exlpoded, plus to actually see him in action again, what a nostalgia trip but also actually added to the plot not just a cameo for cameo's sake which was pleasing about the good majority of them. When cameo's and cross-overs like this occur this is what you want to see.

Gambit finally, finally getting proper live screen action damn near brought a tear to the eye, even if I wasnt totally in love with the outfit and look, his brief banter with DP and Wolverine was great though.

The special nerd sock was deffo needed in this.

I.........I didnt even twig this one.

I cant wait for the day ALL the main X-Girls get their moment to properly shine again, what a day that will be in the MCU and it feels like we might be getting closer to it.

This film was amazing but the thing that worries me the most is, it called out how bad the MCU movies have been several times and I fear Marvel Studios still won't learn their lesson, and outside of this amazing and much-needed movie they're going to continue with their garbage.

If for some forsaken reason you are in here, I imagine what you are looking for: The confirmed cameos:
  • Patch
  • Short Wolverine
  • Orange/brown suit Wolverine
  • Henry Cavill Wolverine
  • Jennifer Garner Elektra
  • Channing Tatum Gambit
  • Wesley Snipes Blade
  • Chris Evans Human Torch
  • Bullseye (not reprised by Collin Farrel)
  • Hulk (? version)
No other X-Men but Charles, Scott, Storm and Beast are mentioned
Sorry Swifty Dazzler fans :funny:
Okay wait, I didn't see Bullseye in the movie.

Personally speaking, I thought it was obvious that the alternate reality shown in the Marvels wasn't gonna be teased/shown in this movie.

Though, what I didn't expect is all the previous X-Men, Wolverine and Deadpool movies to be in just 1 reality/timeline/world. But I guess, that is easier to address to the casual viewers than complicate the MCU more, with foXverse's countless continuity inconsistencies by having several timelines from those movies.

So by the end of this film, we have three timelines that would be used in the future films
1. The Sacred Timeline
2. The Foxverse Timeline
3. The Reality teased in The Marvels with the Beast and Binary

I think the reality where the 60s Fantastic 4 comes from are from a different reality as well, but that one might dwelve with time travel as well. Anyway I hope by Avengers 5 and 6, all these different timelines are easy to follow.

I enjoyed this as a Deadpool movie, but it never quite delivers the emotional beats nor the nostalgia I thought I was going to get in this film.

Hugh Jackman is still an amazing Wolverine though. Literally no notes; I’d take 12 more movies with him.

The cameos were fun, sure, but they’re also indicative of my biggest issue with his movie. And that’s the multiverse.

Case in point… this is just some random Logan that we’ve never met before. We as audience have zero emotional connection to him other than that he looks like Hugh Jackman. He’s not the Wolverine we met in X-Men back in 2000, nor is he the time-traveling Wolverine who returned to the reset future of 2023 in Days of Future Past. He’s another Logan plucked from the multiverse. Why? For me, I think it deflates any tension or gravitas from the plot right off the bat. Jackman can deliver emotional exposition to carry the slack, sure, but we couldn’t have taken another crack at the script to give the story a bit of weight to it?

I don’t think Logan and Deadpool both taking place in the same universe makes sense.

So at the end when everyone is sitting around Wade’s table after they’ve saved the day, they’re doing so in a world set post-2029 where all the X-Men have been murdered by Xavier in Westchester during a psychic seizure? But Colossus apparently wasn’t there at the time and still wears his X-uniform… And I guess Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Yukio weren’t at the mansion at the time either.

It really doesn't make sense, if we consider all the scenes in those movies. But it is what it is.

I think Marvel Studios took the easy approach and just put them all in 1 basket.

Yeah, you’re probably right. But boo

So, do I need to hope I see my original actors alongside Grammer from the universe teased in The Marvels?

Who knows, if there's a Famke Jannsen, Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, Channing Tatum, Anna Paquin, James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer - X-Men team in that reality. At this point, anyone can show up in someone's movie.

For next year, I'm hoping Fantastic 4 would tease something, and featuring an Ot cast member.

2022: Patrick Stewart
2023: Kelsey Grammer
2024: Hugh Jackman
2025: ?

The box office performance of Deadpool & Wolverine could make some changes for the films that will feature the Multiverse.

Everything with the resistance characters in the void was freaking great, a marvel fans dream, especially if you have a soft spot for those older marvel movies like I do.

Makes me even more excited for the prospect of something like Secret Wars

….i rolled my eyes so hard at yet another X-men sacrificed for Logan’s character development story. The cameos were good but Channing showed why it was a bad idea to cast him as he had no charisma at all. Garner looked great. And I did like seeing X-23 reunited with Wolverine at the end. Chris Evans as Johnny was fun.

In hindsight, it's really funny that Halle got this haircut around the time D&P was shooting, but it wasn't for a cameo... but for a Mark Wahlberg Netflix movie that's coming out next month.
I was sad to not see them (storm, cyke, Jean). Secret Wars I guess…

Disagree. I think Channing Tatum as Gambit was genius casting. He not only got the accent down, but he also looked the part.

Yup accent down, looks down but still gave nothing.

In one last tribute to Fox, they muck up the X-Men timelines again.

Logan was said to take place in an alternate timeline, so we actually could've gotten the Post-DOFP Logan, who was OG Logan.

Was not a fan of the X-Men dying again.

I thought Channing was pretty funny as Gambit.

It's weird how at this point, Elektra has made more film appearances than Daredevil.

It was great seeing Snipes as Blade again, even though he's not a Fox character.

Yeah, I can see them saving some surprises for that movie.
