Deadpool & Wolverine Deadpool & Wolverine Spoiler Thread

Yeah I’m really hoping they bring back the Fox cast for something soon…. I’m not crazy about the X-Men dying yet again for story purposes. I’d gladly take an Avengers vs X-Men announcement this Saturday at Hall H. Do that and lead into secret wars before they reset everything in the MCU.

In one last tribute to Fox, they muck up the X-Men timelines again.

Logan was said to take place in an alternate timeline, so we actually could've gotten the Post-DOFP Logan, who was OG Logan.

Was not a fan of the X-Men dying again.
Well Hugh said it was alternate and Mangold came back and said it was main timeline.

In hindsight, it's really funny that Halle got this haircut around the time D&P was shooting, but it wasn't for a cameo... but for a Mark Wahlberg Netflix movie that's coming out next month.
Hmm I don't like that short hair so I guess its not too bad.

Anyway, if there are no more delays, in less than 3 years from now (May 2027), we would already know if the other X-Men would be back for Secret Wars.

Jennifer Garner, Aaron Stanford and Wesley Snipes coming back after so many years, makes me hopeful for the future.

Might've as well brought in Nicolas Cage's Ghost Rider. That seems like a no-brainer for Secret Wars, since they didn't.
Yes, please! I enjoyed the 2007 film. Though the second film was an absolutely Nightmare.

I liked it better than the second one. Jackman sold all the emotional beats and grounded the craziness. The cameos were fun and worked better here than in Multiverse of Madness.

But aren’t there 2 Wolverines in Deadpool’s world now?

Are you counting X-23 as the 2nd one. The Og Wolverine from Deadpool's world is dead.

But there could be two Lauras in that world.

Seems odd that we just saw Beast alive and well, and mentioning Charles Xavier, less than year ago in The Marvels.

But now we’re following the story of a Logan who got drunk while humans murdered his X-Men, who’s now living in a universe where the Logan died after his X-Men were murdered by Xavier.

Maybeee Beast is living in the post-DOFP universe, and maybee that’s different from the Logan/Deadpool universe? But if that’s the case, then that all now just sounds wild and needlessly complicated. Is there a Logan still running around that universe too? Does he have a Laura? What about Deadpool?

I really think Marvel dropped the ball here, and it’s wild we’re still struggling with Fox continuity when it should have been relatively simple— Logan is the alternate timeline, and Deadpool takes place in the reset timeline (post-DOFP). This movie just needed a different impetus to bring together Deadpool & Logan to save their world.

The sooner they get to battleworld, the better. The continuity errors get even more confusing the harder you think about it.

Personally I’m curious to see how they handle everything leading up to the next avengers movies, and with the success of this movie I have a feeling you’ll be seeing a lot more of Hugh and Ryan than previously anticipated

Really loved seeing Hugh Jackman in the classic John Byrne brown & yellow costume, and his AoA look too. That one was more goofy but it was a fun montage.

I don’t see it as timelines out of whack, rather that they’re all different variants.

It gets less confusing the more one views then as different versions than trying to fit them all together.

For instance, I doubt this was New Line Blade. Thus the different costume. This was also obviously not thee Fox Torch. I don’t think Professor X (Strange) and Beast (Marvels) are from the same universe.

——

In Secret Wars so many characters are going to come back.

I wonder if that’s what they’re saving many of the versions of the past for.

For instance, seeing Fox version of Human Torch.

I also want them to go even further - give me Dolph Lundrgren, Jay Underwood, David Hasselhoff, Matt Salinger, Rex Smith, Eric Allan Kramer, Chip Gein, etc. Doesn’t have to be actual scenes, just like a huge cluster at some point. That would be epic.

Thinking of the ending of End Game on steroids.

Deadpool and Wolverine are definitely going to play a strong role in the next Avengers films. Also wondering if the whole saving timelines angle is going to come into play there.

So yeah I f'ing LOVED this absolute bonkers of a movie. Story is whatever but it's supreme entertainment. I can watch Hugh play Wolverine over and over because each time he has a scene where I just think "this guy absolutely gets it". And Ryan Reynolds chemistry with him is addicting.

Yeah, you’re probably right. But boo

Yeah, the advantage (or problem) with the Deadpool movies is because of their very satirical nature it's practically a license to play very loose with the continuity and the audience can accept it. It's why a Deadpool film will never be as great as say Logan for me but never as bad as the mediocre superhero entries as well.

Loved it, I might be in the moment but it feels like it is in my top 5. The action was great, chemistry between both was great. Typical MCU villain being meh so it becomes hard to dock points for that.

This was a fun movie and I can easily see myself just putting it on whenever. The cameos were great all the past X-Men characters received an ending whether death or not. I knew Evans would be Johnny Storm if they were to bring any previous F4 back since he has that MCU relationship. I was surprised they used Tatum's Gambit but he was an MVP cameo for me I found him funny, he did the accent and didn't look too silly. His action was well done too, yes his theme was about never being used but I think if he is back in the future we get more. Snipes as Blade is always great, I hope Ali can capture that feel and make it his own but Snipes feels like the GOAT. I never watched Electra or Affleck DD but Gardner was cool.

Cavill was nice though it was a joke, they will eventually need to recast Wolverine.

I wonder if only X-23 came to that universe in the end or if the others decided to find new ones. I guess this will be revealed in Secret Wars.

I think these “new” ones will be the past variations.

Human Torch, for example, was definitely not Fox Torch. Acted really differently. I also think that’s why Blade didn’t have his classic outfit.

I think my only real problem with the movie is I wanted more of the Deadpool cast. Really wanted Negasonic, Yukio, Colossus and Shatterstar in the end battle. I was also desperately hoping for a James Marsden Cyclops appearance but I get his presence would've nullified Logan's emotional arc.

Balls to the wall fun and after rewatching the first two before hand, I was a little worried the novelty wore off but that went away as soon as I saw the opening sequence. Still felt like more of a Fox movie to me too and not one of my favorite MCU movies or anything but a great theatrical experience nonetheless. Garner was great, Tatum was funny, it was nice to see Laura again and Blade had a few funny lines and good moments. This is going to make a lot of money, my audience was buzzing afterwards.

I will say, the deadpool variants were meh to me though and while it was nice to finally see the wolverine mask, it did look awkward.

I loved the Gambit and Blade fight scene. Finally Gambit uses his powers in a fun way in a movie.

The Deadpool crowd was great as was Wolverine finally wearing his mask.

I thought Channing was pretty funny as Gambit.

It's weird how at this point, Elektra has made more film appearances than Daredevil.

It was great seeing Snipes as Blade again, even though he's not a Fox character.

Well, there's really no reason to say that the ending of DOFP still can't exist as its own separate universe (via the Multiverse).

To be honest, I still have a hard time accepting that Logan takes place on the same world as Deadpool. Plus, didn't Logan die in 2029? How could he already be dead in D&W if the present day events take place in 2024?

Loved the cameos I did not expect Snipes to come back that was good and I liked the joke about him being the only Blade ever… I really wished they would have brought back Nic Cage or Thomas Jane.

Chris Evans was the huge shocker made the crowd go nuts along with Channing Tatum

Just got back. I thought it was pretty good. Better than Deadpool 2. The crowd was DEAD though...no cheering at all for the surprise appearances. Also...I didnt think it was as funny as I wanted it to be...maybe it felt like it thought it was more cute/clever than it was. And while the hype was that this would have HUGE implications on the future of the MCU, I dont see why it would since he ended up right back in his universe at the end. But it was fun and the two main characters have great chemistry.

The cameos in this were a lot of fun especially Evans as Johnny Storm and Snipes coming back as Blade, but the most surprising cameo for me is one I haven't even heard more people talk about and that's Favreau.

I know it was kind of a throwaway, random scene but I actually thought it was pretty damn funny. I also think Favreau is pretty a great fit for this kind of franchise given his comedy background.

I like Channing Tatum and he looked dope in the comic accurate Gambit costume and when he was using his powers during those fights but man that accent was killing me and made his whole performance come off goofier than it should have been which might have been intentional but it still felt really off to me.

It was also cool seeing Jennifer Garner come back since I always liked her in that role and she looked great but I am a bit disappointed that we didn't actually see any of the OG X-Men come back.

I even thought Aaron Stanford coming back as Pyro was kind of a waste but it was still pretty cool seeing so many random X-Men characters thrown in there even if they didn't get a lot of screentime.

Hugh Jackman looked awesome in the suit but even I have to admit that I didn't love it when it put on the mask because of how awkward and in practical it looked in live action.

The white eyes were a little too much IMO.

Ummm were you at my showing cause my audience was the same way at least as the film went on. Like they were very excited at the beginning and clapped and cheered when the marvel logo came up heck they even cheered for Captain America 4 trailer. But after the Evan’s reveal they just got quiet save for Snipes as Blade reveal. They didn’t even clap for Laura or at the end of the movie itself.

My crowd didnt even seem to realize that Chris Evans was on screen. And NO reaction for Blade etc.

That was flippin' awesome. Just as how Spider-man No Way Home was like an epic finale to the Sony films, this was an epic finale to the Fox films (and Blade, which was a pleasant surprise).

I was slightly bummed at the lack of an appearance by the rest of the OG X-men cast. Would've been cool to see the OG cast fight alongside Colossus and Negasonic. Tons of really satisfying references to the X-men films though, and they got Laura back, which was the most important thing.

Also it's kind of funny how so many people predicted and even wanted some sort of cynical "Deadpool Kills the Fox Universe" story. But instead we got the exact opposite, Deadpool saves the Fox universe. And thank god for that. I hated the "Deadpool Kills the Fox Universe" idea, always felt like it was pushed by a bunch of haters.
