Deadpool & Wolverine Deadpool & Wolverine Spoiler Thread

Dude I'm so not gonna get into this with you lol. Stop acting like you understand words better than everybody else.

Dude. You and I obviously took it a different way than others did. Don’t try to act like there is a fight or stir one up like some Spider people oddly try to do when there isn’t one.

In this, Heretic would be right - saying “set up” rather than “impact” would have been more understandable and in line with what it was.

When you say things like this
Kevin, you, and I

You're bascially trying to say you understand what Kevin said better than everyone else. I'm just saying, don't lol. It comes across as condescening, even if you are agreeing with me.

It's a love letter in the sense that yea it's taking the piss out of them at times but also showing homage to them as well. Basically it's honoring the good, the bad and everything inbetween.

Of course; I know this is a Deadpool movie after all. I wasn't expecting Oscar-worthy dialogue or real moments of emotional poignancy, but still...it was disappointing none-the-less.

Also, this wasn't Deadpool & X-Men. It was Deadpool &  WOLVERINE. Also, we dont really know who had return offers to comeback and maybe just....didnt.

It can still be Deadpool and Wolverine without trampling on the other X-Men characters. It makes me nervous about how Feige & co. will handle non-Wolverine characters moving forward. This was the MCU's first opportunity to play around in the Fox sandbox and instead of doing any course-correction, they doubled-down that Wolverine is/was the only mutant that mattered (and, now, Deadpool too).

Even if Halle, Famke, and James all said 'no' to cameo appearances (which I highly doubt), I still don't think the script choice to make Wolverine seeking redemption for dead X-Men (again) was the way to go.

I would imagine they'll be handled fine. They clearly was mostly focused on Wolverine and giving him a tragic backstory here. In a movie more about the team, I would bet they're handled just fine

Fair enough; certainly a possibility. I just don't have that level of confidence at the moment. Every time Fox (and now MCU) elevates Wolverine to this "X-Man of the X-Men" status, it just makes it harder and harder for General Audiences to get on board with the fact that there are other X-Men characters worth paying attention to.

I’m glad I saw this at a special screening on Tuesday. The audience reactions were perfect. Seeing it again later today. We will see how that audience will react.

I get that, and I don't want it to be Wolverine and the X-Men Are Here Also, but I think it played out like this in this movie cause of concept. This movie was more about Wolverine and his legacy as a character than it was about the X-Men brand

at this point it’s not changing they called logan thee X-MAN too many times. it’s how people who make the decisions feel unfortunately. they are saying irl now too in front of feige at comic con yesterday as well

All I am trying to point out is that it didn't need to be an 'either/or' situation. Deadpool & Wolverine could have still emphasized Hugh Jackman, Wolverine, and the character's legacy in film, without tossing the lore & history of the X-Men aside.

What did having this Wolverine being a failure add to the film's narrative? Wolverine could have still been "the right guy in the wrong place/time," initially refusing the call to action to help Deadpool save his universe before ultimately being reminded by Laura (who could have still been displaced from the Logan alternate universe) that he's a hero in whatever universe and he always steps up to do the right thing.

The Blade cameo followed up with Tatum as Gambit was great. I especially loved whatever Deadpool's line was, "Who was your dialect coach, the Minions?"

The movie was about trauma and living with failure. The X-Men being dead and Wolverine feeling responsible reflects Deadpool and his failures with his friends and his own personal.life that led him to retirement. So this Wolverine needed a reason to feel like a failure thematically

If the any of the X-Men cast arrives for the Avengers 5's Hall H panel, I am going to pass out!!!!

Anyway, I will watch Deadpool/Wolverine again this Saturday afternoon this time in 2D. I will never forget the day I saw Jennifer Garner as Elektra in the MCU. They even rolled clips of her solo movie in the credits. This movie really made me want to stream those 2000s Marvel movies again, when I just binged watch 10 phase 4/5 movie few months ago...

I always KNEW they were going to bring back Chris Evans as Johnny but I had always assumed it'd be in Secret Wars. Seeing him here was a very pleasant surprise and he slipped back into that role like a glove.

Oh and when LadyPool showed up, i whispered to my buddy, "I bet you thats either Blake Lively or Taylor Swift." :funny:

I feel like they immortalized those 2000s movies by bringing them back (the actors in the same role) in the MCU.

They have to comeback in Secret Wars!

Deadpool, Wolverine, X-23, Elektra, Blade and Gambit in a group shot + Chris Evans as Human Torch in a post credits scene are things I didn't think I needed.

:db:

Jesus, they're really not giving anyone who didn't see this yesterday a chance to go in unspoiled, are they?
The official social media accounts, said to keep this spoiler free.

But I had no idea until now, when I googled comic con 2024. I thought it was just Hugh, Kevin, Ryan and Emma.

I hope there's a video of that in YouTube because I'm geeking out...

I dont think I can find any reason to justify watching Elektra again, lol!!!! That movie is just awful

Here ya go

EDIT- Forgot, Psylockolussus has me blocked, so somebody will probably need to tell them about this video lol.

I know right? Glad I caught the movie last night.

Initial thoughts: This film was delightful, highly entertaining, and heartfelt. It kept the same tone as the first two Deadpool films but added an emotional core that made me leave the theater feeling joyful. The CARE they took with this Wolverine, who is thankfully not the Wolverine we have met before, was superb. This is the most comic-accurate Logan we have seen to date, and I love him more than the Fox version. I can't wait to see him again.

Between this movie, the Beast cameo in The Marvels, and X-Men '97, the MCU understands what I want to see from these characters. I cannot wait to see how Fiege handles the rest of the X-Men.

I’d gladly take an entire movie about characters in the void, specifically the ones we saw in this movie. Hopefully they're all back for Secret Wars

As Spider said, it's all about the film's overall theme.

One central tenant of storytelling - that some films do, others don't (although off of the top of my head I can't think of one) - is that the theme "should" be reflected in every aspect of the story and in every character; to make that even harder, some in the business expect that to be a part of every scene in some way as well. Basically everything coming together to reflect one general idea -

Everyone fails sometimes and makes mistakes, it's about what you do next and how you rise above it that matters.

This shows in MCU meta commentary, Deadpool, Wolverine, the now TVA heroes, etc.

Per why they went with this theme, if I was to guess from Deadpool being meta - it was about commentating on the state of the MCU. Possibly from there they pieced together how the story and characters would reflect that as well.
