The Dark Knight Rises Deadshot

There's no reason Deadshot, visually, couldn't just be a "darker" version of his comic self. The single "eyepiece", the gadgets, pouches, etc. And remember...before he dressed flamboyantly, Deadshot was just Floyd Lawton in a cowboy outfit, and didn't wear a costume. There's really nothing that says he needs to be red, yellow and white in a feature film.

As long as they remember the thin porn star stash, and don't go the super pimp route from Gotham Knight, I'll be cool with it.

Maybe so.

But while I imagine he'd use some kind of targeting device, if we're talking about tactics, then his costume sure as hell wouldn't be bright red, white and yellow. So I think there'd have to be some kind of changes--sort like how Nolan tweaked the look of both the Scarecrow (no hat, no raggedy barnyard-type clothes) and Joker (makeup instead of white skin).

Whether those changes would include a mask that exposes his mouth or eyes is anybody's guess. And since we haven't been given any information about the movie, I guess it's guessing time.

The shades of bright yellow, white and red is pretty much a given to be on the change list for obvious reasons, but really, all I've ever been talking about is the mask itself, of which there is no real logical reason to necessitate its change, save for an actor being cast who cant play the part without his mouth being seen by the audience.

I'd be OK with toning down the suit but not with changing it with a cowboy outfit or a trenchcoat. If they re gonna use Deadshot, then they should give us Deadshot, not a random assassin in a trenchcoat.

I thought Deadshot started off with a tophat and waistcoat. If I'm mistaken and there's a cowboy story that I'm missing, please let me know where I can find it, because I'd love to read it. That might put the moustache into some context, too.

Anyway, I would be fine with changes to Deadshot's mask that let us see more of his face. Having a fully-covered face was fine for Rorscharch (possibly because the moving ink blots conveyed some feeling), but I feel like when you hear the actor's voice but can't see their eyes/mouth the whole thing feels kind of...Power Rangers.

I felt that way with parts of the opening scene of The Dark Knight ("Now I know why they call him the Joker"), too. That's also why I hope the sonar lenses on the batsuit won't make a return. Maybe it's just a matter of personal preference, though.

And I think that as long as we see Floyd Lawton as a chain-smoking scumbag with guns on his wrists who's indifferent as to whether he lives or dies it'll be Deadshot--even if the costume is changed.

As I recall, he had some sort of pseudo cowboy/old west visual when he first appeared. It's a moot point, I guess.

I really think being Deadshot lends itself to a full facemask.

Yeah, he did start off with the 'riverboat' look but that got ditched for the classic threads that are more synonomous the character and have been for years.

As for the whole being able to see the actors face thing, I dont see a problem as long as they get an actor talented enough for the mask not to be a handicap. We've seen that some can work with a face covering mask and do it well, i.e. Dafoe in Spiderman and Weaving in V for Vendetta (Hell, look at Darth Vader - it's the voice of James Earl Jones that made him such a powerful and iconic character) and some cant (hence as I've mentioned before, James Purefoy being replaced by Weaving as V during principal photography). I'd say it boils down to what degree the actor can deliver both a vocal and expressive performance through their body language.

I also say the characters look the way they look [and have done for years] and respect should be paid to that. If we went into comicbook movies thinking that we had to see everyones face just to see emotions, we'd have to redesign more than half of the comicbook character community. In fact, why the need for the masks in the 1st place?

Anyways, in my mind, the eyes that more important to conveying emotion rather than the mouth and, following the Batman cowl mantra (aside from the short time he used the sonar tech and the lenses), we'd still be able to see at least one of Deadshot's eyes.

I still think Mads Mikkelsen would be good. Deadshot is cold and merciless. Mads has that dark and cold presence to him in every movie...Even in real life. His eyes, face and voice just scream "psychopath" lol.

He was great in Casino Royale.

He's soon to be seen in the upcoming Clash of the Titans too. Speaking of Mads though, I still love the idea of Craig as Deadshot; he'd be the perfect foil for Bale, both in talent and physicality.

But it'd never happen, sadly.
