The Dark Knight Rises Ra's Al Ghul - Speculation in Dark Knight Rises

Bane is Ra's, but he got burnt in the train crash so he has no hair and he's about 4 inches shorter and he put on a lot of muscle and his accent changed and his bone structure changed also

It's a possibility... but in my honest opinion it would feel like a bit of a cop out if Bane ended up being Ra's Al Ghul; and I just don't see Nolan going that route. I do believe however that:

A.) Ra's survived the crash
B.) Ra's died.
C.) Ra's died and was brought back to life.

Call it unrealistic or unbelievable, but Nolan knew that if he chose Ra's as a villain that he was a character of deception and one in the comics who has lived for over 500 years. There are those of us who don't wish to see the Lazarus Pit or the idea of Ra's coming back from the dead... but that IS Ra's character and is one of the biggest reasons why he's a challenging opponent for Batman.

And we all know every single one of us would freak out like little female children if this was hinted or shown in the film. The chances used to be a long shot... but in the last year it's been revealed that Pence will be a young Ra's in a flashback, Tate has been revealed as Talia or someone who she doesn't appear to be (let's face it, she's Talia! LOL ), and Neeson just got confirmed for the film. At some point of this film, Ra's proves to be enough of a significance to be in the story, whether dead or alive.

We don't know how it will pan out in the end, but none the less: it will be the conclusion of the film franchise. Anything could happen. :woot: :hrt:

I think people are setting them selves up for a dissapointment if they believe Neesons cameo will be more than a few seconds. My money is on a dream sequence right before Bruce wakes up and see Bane instead. Remember, Neeson isnt even going to be in the credits.

The "bulk" of Ra's in this movie will be Josh Pence. Now how long that sort of flashback with a young Talia could be, is anyones guess. What sounds most likely is it will be shown when Talia reveals her self/[blackout]stabs Batman[/blackout] and she tells him about her father and we get to see quick cuts of them together.

Put me down for B. Though I will be sitting up and taking notice when Tatelia reveals herself. If she has anything to say about her father and what tenses she uses.

in the new trailer it looks like Bruce wakes up in the Bane prison in a similar way like in Batman Begins. and we know that he had a nightmare in BB.

i think Liam Neeson filmed a nighmare scene with Bruce Wayne. so Bane beats up Batman and he is unconscious . then they show Bane's men and Bruce outside the pit(greenscreen pit in india). and then we jump to the nightmare. the nightmare ends with Bruce waking up in prison and Bane is looking him. you see that they used a defocus effect on Bane's face when Bruce wakes up.

i think Neeson's cameo will fit as a nightmare. its again similar to BB like the whole movie.

The way Bruce jerks awake and yells in pain makes me think that it's either a very vivid nightmare or Bane puts pressure on one of Bruce's injuries to wake him up, I'm thinking the latter.

It would just make sense given what seems to be a painful yelp from Bruce as he jerks awake. Wouldn't it be convenient that just as Bruce wakes, Bane is there? Or maybe he's just there the whole time staring at Bruce as he's unconcious. Freaky. :ninja:

Yep, cause jets don't exist...

Yeaaaaahhh.... but I think any superhero flying around a city takes realism and punches it in the face.

Any wacko can get a suped-up car and drive around a city causing havoc and being a reckless driver.... but now Batman has a fighter jet.

Realism? I think not.

Looks like it..

Here is my theory of Ra's role in TDKR.

I think it would be cool if the underground prison was called The Lazarus Pit or something similar and allude to people metaphorically coming back to life when escaping it. There is where I also think the scenes of young Ra's and young Talia fits in. Maybe they are imprisoned there wrongly accused and Ra's find the will and strength to climb the well, maybe even with little Talia on his back.

We know from AA that apparently Talia is involved in climbing, but who really thinks this little girl could do that? And also we know from AA that there is a mysterious vision with connection to something or someone named Rasta. Now it isn't that hard do decipher that one is it, Ra'sTalia, Ra's and Talia.

We know they filmed scenes in India of Bale being carried in to the green-screen pit and also a scene of him jumping out of it. Which more than likely means that it is meant to be the prison. What other actors filmed in India? Yes, Joey and Josh. Same goes with the interiors being shot in London, Joey said that was the other country she filmed in.

Bruce/Batman rising from the same place that Ra's once did. The same Ra's whose guidance and training helped create Batman.

Bringing it back to Begins full circle style indeed Oldman.

It'd actually be kind of sweet seeing Ra's climbing out with Talia on his back, it'd also reinforce Talia's mixed emotions about Bruce, showcasing that despite being a "villain" Ra's was still this woman's father and that Bruce took him away from her.

Someone unlikely has a jet and flies it through a city=Immortality from magical pits :whatever:

Yeah people see things way too black and white when it comes to this realism-debate. Nolan heighten the reality in the science and physics departments but stays away from the supernatural and mysticism.

In Nolan's eye, the supernatural and mysticism are actually theatricality and deception. We saw this in the Prestige and Batman Begins. Theatricality and magic are one in the same if the person witnessing it doesn't understand it (Batman in the docks in BB, Ducard is Ras).

I gotta say Blue Sugar, I hope you're right with your theory. That would be awesome!

What if Bruce is becoming Ras in the respect of what they have lost? Ras lost his love, so did Bruce. Ras was trained to overcome his fears, so was Bruce. Both men have a sense of justice, though Ras' is a bit more extreme.

What if Bruce is going to go completely full circle and train a future symbol of justice? In the same way Ras taught Bruce to become an idea, what if Bruce will carry on the spirit of Batman through his own apprentice?

Hate to rehash an idea that is probably out of the question, but I think it would reinforce Nolan's idea of Bruce "fulfilling his destiny" to inspire Gotham.

Not saying Bane is Ra's, but did anyone find it strange just how similar Bane sounded to Ra's when he said "Your punishment must be more severe." Especially when he says 'severe'.

I joined the forum just to post this theory. Your jaws will drop when I'm done.

First trailer: Ras tells batman, "You must become more than just a man......a legend Mr Wayne"

Ras has become more than just a man through Bane. While then he ridicules Batman suggesting that he has failed because he is still a man , a broken man after Bane has wrecked him. His legend is not living on.

RAS is either Bane or is alive and crippled somewhere controlling Bane.

Actually, Bane is Harvey Dent after plastic surgery and time with a weight trainer(although the fall squashed him, cutting off a few inches of his height).

I've grown to like the idea that Ra's appearance is through the visions and hallucinations that Bruce is having while he's in prison recovering from his injuries.

And we all know how much Nolan loves his quick cuts. :cwink:

Okay, just went and rewatched Batman Begins. Great stuff. And over on the Gen. Dis. board they mentioned that they had the idea of Josh Pence as young Ra's carrying his daughter out of the pit on his back. Kind of brings a whole new meaning to that "The Will is Everything!" line in Begins, doesn't it?

And I'm still not convinced Neeson's visit was just to film a blink and you'll miss it cameo. I'm still thinking we'll probably get some kind of briefing session with Talia from Begins in this movie. Remember, Marion Cotillard specifically stated that her character was in no way a pre-existing one. If Nesson's clips featured her in any way, I wouldn't be surprised if he was told to say absolutely nothing.

ras is bruces real father n bane is the adopted evil brother...nolan ur too good lol

I first thought that the speculations of Ras being Bane was ridiculous but now I am starting to believe that ridiculous speculation. I hate the thought of it but there are just heavy clues from the trailers that Ras = Bane.

When I heard Bane speak in the third trailer, I felt like I was listening to Neeson/Ras. The vocabulary, accent, grammar, and verbage that they (Bane and Ras) both used are very similar. Maybe Nolan has a crazy obsession of poetic dialogue used by his villains? Or maybe Ras became Bane?

I will boycott Nolan films if the latter turns out to be true. I loved BB and TDK (minus Batman's fugly costume and a cowl that was replaced with a helmet). I'm not getting that same vibe with TDKR. I can't help but feel that Nolan decided to try something completely new with TDKR and diverge away from Batman mythos and canon as far as possible, since he did so well with the first two movies and turned a bunch of audience into Nolanites. He already has more than enough audience to show off his new ideas for the Batman universe.

Guys ive made a discovery...theres no way for bane to know about dent n the lies unless he was involved...this is my discovery....bane is the joker 8 years later...mask covers the scars n enhances voice...shaves head n there u have it!
