Thank you.

So Tom Hardy as Hugo Stange. Don't like the idea.

Current rumor is that Hardy is playing Strange and while I like the idea, rumors come and go. They're just what bored people post online on a slow day.

There's also talk of a tv series which is cool but again, just more rumor. I doubt WB is really considering it...the movie series is doing brilliant right now. They're probably going to continue it as long as they can.

I like Hardy for Strange,

I also like Rachel Weisz for Catwoman, who is the new leading candidate since she dropped out of the Lynn Shelton movie

I just read a report originating from the National Ledger that Anne Hathaway and Natalie Portman may star in a comedy together. I don't know the reliability of the source and they don't give a potential filming time frame, but it's interesting these two are mentioned after that Deadline report. I don't know if this could possibly take either of the two out of the love interest/villain running.

Figured I could try to contribute to some info hunting :O

I wouldn't mind Strange if Catwoman was in the movie as well. I trust that Nolan knows how to do an interesting movie with Strange as a villain, but I'm incredibly interested in seeing his take on Catwoman.

Hardy as Strange with Weisz as Catwoman? I'm in.

If you really think about it, CatWoman and Black Mask make the most sense for this movie. Im 99.99% positive that Catwoman will be in this movie. You all know what Fox said to bruce about his new suit in TDK, and they have casted 2 leading female roles for the movie already. I really think that a Black Mask storyline came in at the very beginning of TDK. You guys remember the Kid at the bank who tried to save the day? Could have easily been Roman Sionis, The people who owned the bank could have been his parents, they could have been killed and he could take over the business. Plus The fact that all the mobsters have been put in jail or killed off by the joker, Black mask can come in and make an organized crime society leaving no choice for the city to want the bat back. If strange is in this movie it will be a small role, besides there no reason for him when you have Reese Coleman who knows who batman really is and if you know Hugo strange hes always tried to do something with batman's identity. Just my opinion, either way its gonna be another classic.

I think you're reading WAY TOO much into the events of TDK.

I think Hugo Strange could be the Big Bad, the main villain of the film and the actual primary threat to Batman. But Catwoman is the marketable foil you can put on your posters and build marketing around and generate a level of hype within the mainstream somewhat comparable to The Joker. They work well as a combo, I think.

Just my opinion, Nolan said there will be a good bit of returning characters and some new ones. He did leave alot of hints in TDK though.

I believe Christian Bale will be playing both a Bat and a man in this film...

Good point, but I'm still not sold on Strange. From the Joker to Hugo?

I know, but he meant Batman, Alfred, Gordan, Fox. I don't think they were hints man.

I can still see him using Black mask though. Alot of Fan Base around him even though hes a fairly new character, Plus the fact that Roman is a total badass who doesnt give a crap and that would give some hype to the film.

I think Catwoman has a good chance of showing up too. That will help even out the Joker to Hugo change.

I agree with you there, but I didn't get the same thing you got from TDK.

It was just a thought, I was just brainstormin ideas for a storyline about Black mask. It just seemed like a good fit, Black Mask kills joker because of the bank robbery - Black Mask takes over city with crime - Gordon calls the bat for help - Bat Returns - And thats it.

From Joker to Hugo, from Joker to Black Mask, from Joker to Deadshot, from Joker to Hush, from Joker to anyone is going to inevitably feel like a step down, because The Joker is The Joker. Hence why, though the main villain may not be as iconic, you also put Catwoman into the mix. In my opinion, she's the only remaining character that can generate mainstream interest on a level comparable to The Joker.

DO NOT comment on the source of this news, Jett just posted this on BOF's Facebook:
I do think Hugo Strange is in this film and I think Hardy could be playing him.
Please focus on the content there. At least I'm not the only Batman news website who's been hearing about Strange...

well there was the fact that the copycats and the joker were the result of batman's aggressive behavior.

Hugo dressing like batman would be conscionable and would make sense to stir up the pot.

I for one am glad my top choice of Hugo Strange seems to be emerging as a frontrunner for Tom Hardy to be playing...

Yeah, I just see Hugo as a side villain. Not the main man.

Whoa, whoa, whoa? Black Mask kills the Joker? Huh? I misseed that in your post. Not going to happen my friend. You should PM me.

I don't agree. Joker to Black Mask works. Joker to Hush works.

I'm still happy with the possibility that it could be Strange as the new villain.

Like I said the other night in another thread. For those who don't like this character, it's very possible that the Nolan's can elevate him from the comics depending on how they write him and how he ties into the story. You just might come out liking him after watching this film.
