The Dark Knight Death on the set! =(

mmm.. probably not before the credits.
if it were an actor, then yeah, that would make sense, but this guy was just one of many crew members of a rather large production crew.
not trying to cheapen his death by saying this, but if they do "pay tribute" to him in the credits, it will most likely be at the very, very end of the credits.
more of a lasting impression, being the last thing people will see.
Several of Pixar's movies have been dedicated to prominent Pixar animators who have passed. For Finding Nemo, the dedication for Glenn McQueen came before the end credits, and before the little epilogue thingie. I don't have Cars, but IIRC, the dedication for Joe Ranft also came right before the end credits. That way, the audience will not have gotten up yet, but it also doesn't disturb the pacing and tone of the movie.

It's completely up to them if they were to do it, but Chris Nolan basically does use the same crew in each of his movies, so maybe he does know the guy well enough to put a dedication in.

This is bull****:csad:. A man died and one of the first things people think to talk about are their concerns for the movie? This is crap.

why else would we even be talking about the guy dying?
do you know how many people die everyday?
he was associated with this films production, of course it's gonna be talked about.

People die everyday, and accidents happen. Yes its sad that he died working on the movie we're dying to see, but it would suck if this delayed the release of the movie in anyway (which thankfully it wont)

Batman Death Was Not Onset

A crew member working on the new Batman movie died in a "tragic" accident and not during filming, studio bosses have confirmed. The unnamed special effects expert was following the Batmobile on a racetrack in Surrey, England when the car he was in crashed into a tree. It had been reported the victim was trying to figure out how to film a car chase scene for Batman: The Dark Knight on Tuesday . But a spokesman for Warner Bros. Pictures insists the accident did not take place on the film set and actors Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Heath Ledger were not involved. A statement reads, "There was a fatal accident at a special effects facility for The Dark Knight on the afternoon of 24th September. A technician on the film died when the truck he was in struck a tree following a test run. "Warner Bros. Pictures and the entire cast and crew of The Dark Knight are deeply saddened by this tragedy and their hearts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased."

The man that died was Comway Wickliffe. He was very talented, able, and had worked on Batman Begins. My heart is out to you - man.

Kiwi movie man dies in UK

A New Zealand-born special effects expert has been killed while working on a movie in Britain.

Conway Wickliffe, 41, has worked on numerous blockbuster films including Bond movies, Casino Royale, Die Another Day and V for Vendetta.

It is believed he was fatally injured during a car stunt on the set of his latest film, the new Batman sequel, Dark Knight.

Wickliffe's partner Derynn Chase is unhappy she has not been allowed to see his body.

That is because there is currently an investigation into the accident and the UK coroners are to perform a post mortem.

(NOTE: it has been established by several sources that this did not take place on the actual set where filming was taking place)

I agree, its a legitimate point. Yes, a man in a high risk job that continually puts people in dangerous situations that can result in lethal injuries, died. Yes, its sad and tragic. But, I think its ok for people to question how this event will impact the production of the film.

How would a stunt driver dying affect the release of the film? Brandon Lee, the main character in the crow died, and the crow wasnt delayed.

Damn right it is! All im saying is, if you play with fire your going to get burned. Goes for all special effects and stunt men/women. Your bound to get hurt or die doing all that crazy stuff, I admire the hell out of them but it's like the Croc Hunter. He may not have died from a Croc but it was from an animal in the wild, it was bound to happen.

I just don't think it's bad to ask if this will halt or slow down the production, kinda annoys me when I see so many people acting sad like they knew the guy personally anyway :whatever: .

When I asked how this would affect the movie, I didn't mean it to ba a selfish "Oh man, I can't believe my luck" sort of thing at all. This is just the first film I've really followed the production of, and I was curious about what a death does to a major movie. Are there delays, is Warner Brothers responsible, can they be sued, etc? I meant nothing sinister by it.

Is there any confirmation on who it was? The guy i became acquainted with was named Billy, he was a camera car driver and he was from Canada. He also did some stunt car work. I hope it wasn't him.

horrible news

R.I.P

I hope this doesnt hinder the work the special effects team is doing but at the same time I hope they take more precautionary and safety procedures.

It is believed the dead man was trying to figure out how to film a car chase scene. The unnamed victim, a married father of two, died at the scene of the crash. Police and the Health and Safety experts are investigating the incident.

None of the film's cast including Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Heath Ledger saw the accident. Batman: The Dark Knight is released next year."

Bad karma

My heart sank when I read that. Especially the part when it read "Wife and two kids." Poor guys. Seriously, all that pain for the sake of film, all of that.

And no, when reading I did not think how it would delay the film, only because I knew that since it was not during filming or involving an actor or more major crew-member like Nolan, it will go ahead. Poor guy...

****. I'm sad now.
