Guillermo del Toro worked together as a co-director with Hideo Kojima for P.T., but the film director shared in an interview with IGN that this time he’ll take on a smaller role in Kojima Productions’ upcoming PS4 title, Death Stranding.

Here’s what del Toro had to say during the phone interview:
“I’m involved as a character. Kojima-san called me and said, ‘I want you to be a character in the game,’ and I said, ‘Gladly.’ He’s discussed his ideas so I could understand the character, but other than that I’m not involved, creatively, at all.”

“This is entirely Kojima-san’s game. I think it’s gonna be a fantastic game, 100%. But this is him and his ideas. I’m just a puppet in his hands. My contribution is limited to being a cheerleader for his ideas and being scanned for long hours at a time. That’s about it.”

He also elaborated on the process of performing motion capture work for the game:
“We did incredibly detailed scanning. It took about seven hours or so, just for the scanning alone. We did it with almost three time the number of cameras you normally use for medium or close-up models. I’ve done scanning myself in my movies, and I know that what he did allows me to be a real character in the game, for sure.”

Death Stranding is in development for PlayStation 4.

When Nintendo held its event for the Nintendo Switch back in January, 1-2-Switch was a title that was featured as a launch title for the console. 1-2-Switch is a party game in which players use the Switch’s Joy-Con controllers to play various minigames.

During RTX in Sydney this weekend, Death

Stranding and Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima faced off against Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller in one of 1-2-Switch’s minigames. You can watch the showdown and see who emerges victorious in the following video.

Death Stranding port for Switch confirmed. :o

Greg Miller and those Kinda Funny guys are really lame IMO. Try so hard to be funny, fail miserably.

While his humour does indeed "suck", the man does have an in depth knowledge of all things Playstation, plus he did get some juicy info from Kojima at RTX Sydney like confirming that DS is an open world game, that it's not a straight up horror like P.T. but more AAA style action and that he's fully committed to the game rather than focusing on sequels and giving us an incomplete game.

Dude just needs to tone down his crappy humour and he'll be great lol.

Great bunch to listen to during E3 though.

I can't stand Greg. He just screams "narcissism" to me for some reason.

Death Stranding's Hideo Kojima is Done with Horror Games
1 day ago |
1486508644death-stranding-game-has-already-begun-kojima-productions.jpg

Hideo Kojima's upcoming game, Death Stranding, will not be a horror game, IGN reports. Kojima, best known for his work on Metal Gear, attempted to make the ninth installment of the Silent Hill franchise before it was canceled. Now he says he's done with horror games.
He has a simple reason for his reluctance. ""I get scared very easily," said Kojima. "Actually, this is true of Alfred Hitchcock as well as Steven Spielberg. Because they scare easily, because I scare easily, it's actually easy for us to make something that is scary, because we understand what is scary."
However, Kojima says, "While in that process, we're constantly imagining, like, terrifying situations so it ends up giving me bad dreams. That's the reason why I don't want to make a horror game."
Kojima, creator Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labrynth) and actor Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) were originally supposed to be a team for the Silent Hills video game. However, after that was canceled, they joined together to make Death Stranding instead. Not much is known about the game, except that Mads Mikkelson (Dr. Strange) is involved.
While he may be staying away from horror, Kojima has a few thoughts on what makes thengs scary. "I think the most effective way to scare someone is to show them something that’s slightly out of the ordinary," he says. "Slightly off, but at first glance, they don’t know what it is about it that is unusual. When you do something like this, it confuses the mind, and that becomes unnerving for the person who sees it. Also, the unknown. When there’s no information available for something, it’s more frightening."
Death Stranding is certainly unknown right now, but it remains to be seen how scary it will be. The suspense is building. What do you think will happen with the game?
Death Stranding is expected to be released sometime before 2019.

At first I was confused that Del Toro didn't get a cast credit but then I read that he's not voicing the character and not doing the mocap. Their just using his likeness.

Edit: it was a video from the PSX panel.

Well, that's kind of a bummer... I know Kojima wanted to work on a horror game for years. Silent Hills would have been awesome. I figured he would come back around to the genre after some time, it's a shame that they put work into a quality looking game that will never come to fruition.

But his reasoning makes sense...haha. As an adult who never read a horror novel since Goosebumps and dived into some Stephen King and Will Blatty recently, I've opened a little door in my head to all kinds of terrifying thoughts just before bed time.

Pretty cool interview. Talks about DS and his past and present.

Probably not the same universe though.

In December, Hideo Kojima revealed he was working with Guerilla Games to bring his upcoming game, Death Stranding, to life at a much faster speed. Guerilla has given Kojima Productions access to their Decima engine and the two studios are actively working back and forth with each other to improve the engine and make Death Stranding better.
Their partnership has extended beyond business, however, as Guerilla has added a special nod to Kojima Productions and Death Stranding in their new game, Horizon: Zero Dawn. Game Legends discovered that in the game, the main character Alloy can find special artifacts such as an amulet that resembles the look of Kojima Productions logo within the main menu.

Furthermore, the description of the amulet describes a very specific look that we've seen before. Here's a translation courtesy of GamesRadar.

Horizon: Zero Dawn releases exclusively on PlayStation 4 on February 28th, we gave it a 9.5/10 in our review and praised it for a variety of things. Death Stranding will also come to PlayStation 4 later down the line, but there's no official release date as of yet.

Can i just say that i am incredibly hyped that Ludvig Forssell Will be composing Death Stranding, especially since he collaborated with Kojima for MGSV: Ground Zeroes and the Phantom Pain.

I mean listen to the video below, and extended ost from one of the DS trailers, simply awe inspiring.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that Hideo Kojima may very well be the only human on the planet that fully understands the plot line for his upcoming Open World Action Game, Death Stranding. '

One of the game's stars, Mads Mikkelsen can apparently attest to this. Mikkelsen stopped by Saudi Comic Con over in Jeddah and spoke on stage about his time with the lovably enigmatic Kojima.

Mikkelsen refers to Kojima as a "wonderfully charismatic person" and "a genius" before he admits that he "got lost" when listening to the plot. He also describes Death Stranding's narrative as "elaborate" and stated a desire to "learn more."

The trailers that have released thus far are packed with intrigue but are still about as vague on context as it gets. Norman Reedus standing naked on a beach surrounded by dead marine life is about as accurate a description I can give on Death Stranding's reveal trailer.
If one of the game's stars is having trouble nailing down the details, it's not a stretch to think that the world might go the same way. That's not necessarily a bad thing either; there's plenty of room for complex and interpretive storytelling, and hopefully Death Stranding will give fans plenty to talk about when it releases.

A lot of hype is building around the production of Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding since it looks to be a very ambitious game from an independent studio. Rumors have recently come out that Emma Stone (La La Land) may play a role in the game, and Mads Mikkelsen, another actor attached to the project, has commented on the rumors.

During a panel at the Saudi Comic-Con (via Game Rant), Mikkelsen said, “I can’t talk about that, but I really like that rumor. That’s a lovely rumor.” It’s very intriguing that Mikkelsen didn’t outright deny the rumor, but as of now, fans will just have to wait till the studio confirms or denies Stone’s involvement with the project.

It isn’t really a far stretch for Stone to appear in Death Stranding, since a lot of celebrities are currently included in the cast list; them being Mads Mikkelsen, Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), and Guillermo del Toro (Director of Hellboy). Stone is also no stranger to working on video games, lending her voice for a character on Sleeping Dogs.

Will Stone be in Death Stranding? Fans will just have to wait for more info to come out. As of now, the game is in development for the PS4, and has no official release date.

Emma Stone rumours are getting more and more sound by the weeks.

Not sure if this leak from 4chan's real or not, looks awesome though.

I like her better as a red head . I haven't heard any thing since the more legit news outlets of gamer news or otherwise. But we'll see

Indeed, it's all speculation at this point, could be a troll attempt for all we know lol.

Yongyea has been providing some pretty solid evidence on her involvement in Death Stranding though, he even got Mads Mikkelsen's casting right before the TGA trailer, i would post the video here but he swears a fair bit.

yeah it's best to avoid it then. even if it hads the info we need or want to know there only somany limits we can push with that and I rather not tick mod for breaking the rules . its alsways best to stay on good terms as mush as possible un less this is info you can't get any where else. and even then, there just some things it's best left not to chance.
