Decency On the Hype

While I don't like censorship I am all for being considerate of our fellow human beings.
This is what I'm so tired of.
It's only people who don't fit into "The Norm" who are expected to "respect" everyone else and be "considerate", and walk on egg shells for fear of bruising evwybody's feew goods.

The majority doesn't have an ounce of "respect" for us, they're NEVER considerate of our feelings...they only care about molding the entire world into a place of which they'd approve, without an OUNCE of concern for what kind of lives we'd like to lead, and what kind of world we'd like to have.

Christians can spew their filthy, deranged, violent, hate-filled evil religious garbage....tell everyone they are "wrong", and "sinful, and threaten them with death and torture if they don't "repent"...

I'm ****ing offended by cutesy crap, and religious crap, and oversensitivity, and silencing people who are telling the truth because you don't enjoy the truth, and hypocrisy, and double standards, and stupidity...

But the hypocrites, and idiots, and people lacking integrity and honesty...and GOOD TASTE, the religious bigots and the whining INFANTS trapped in adult bodies.....I can't shut them up, I can't censor their idiocy and evil and thoughtlessness, I can't make them disappear...

AND I WOULDN'T WANT TO...And that's why I'm better than you fascists.
We have the maturity and good sense to know that this a rough a world and you're going to see and hear a lot of unpleasant stuff.

That's PART of life.
If you want kids leading sheltered lives, then SHELTER THEM, and stop trying to force your baby goo-goo shelter on EVERYONE.

Fascist F***s. :down

no one is forcing these people to view these things...

if you don't like it, simply put that person on your ignore list, and if you really don't like it, then simply leave.

See, how simple and beautiful it is? ^

When I don't like something, I don't go back for more of it.
I don't try to have it SHUT DOWN, I just don't include it in MY day anymore.
If others want to, great. It can't harm me in any way.

But this other breed of person has this slimy desire to SHUT DOWN what they don't like.
It's the most incredible form of egomaniacal power-tripping bulls***.

You don't think jr.'s brain can handle a jiggly woman in a bikini? You want him to grow up gay or asexual? FINE.
Don't let him go to sites where his eyes might get scalded by God's handiwork, the awful, shameful human body.

You have no control over your kid? Your kid is so god damned stupid that if he hears a word, and you tell him it's a bad word, he'll still parrot it in mixed company?
FINE.
Don't let the kid have access to places where these horrible, ghastly combinations of vowels and consonants might appear.

It's sOoOoO simple.
The truth is, people are just too lazy to parent.
The problem is Y.O.U.

If you find indecency, in any of it's nefarious guises, it can surely be traced back to those monsters. :(

What I was saying was that the parents could install the filter, while the webmasters could keep an eye out for any content that would go beyond a level reasonable for kids under 16. Both bases are covered that way.

They do that now. That's my whole argument. I don't see anything "indecent" on here now. They have automatic filters that cut out profanity, and "pornographic" pictures are deleted, and the user warned/probated/banned. Just because YOU think it's indecent for kids under 16 to see close-ups of boobs or side-boob doesn't mean the webmaster does.

I disagree; when it comes to entertainment, the filmmakers (be they directors, writers, actors, or anyone else) are under a moral obligation to treat all audiences with dignity and respect.

No

Doesn't make it right, in my opinion.

Yes, it is your opinion. When you have a message board, you can make all types of censorship decisions.

I am one of the most liberal people on the planet...

Somehow, I doubt that.

it doesn't have to be about morals but it could just be about common courtesy no different from saying please and thankyou.

Courtesy is a good thing, but you can't force people to be courteous to each other. Reminds me of this quote:

"Being miserable and treating other people like dirt is every New Yorker's God-given right!" - Mayor, Ghostbusters II

So true :)

I have a feeling that those people really wouldn't like it if I demanded that they be silenced...

Yeah, like when people want the ten commandments out of public buildings. I've never seen so many christians worked up over censorship.

Says who?

have a family section and an adult section.

Then watch all the bored nannies and substance starved teens slowly emigrate to the adult side.

As an adult member of the Hype there are areas that I find offensive so I stay away.

From time to time I come across avys and posts that I find offensive so I move on.

If I really have a problem with this place then I can just choose to leave but I have no say so of what is and is not allowed on the Hype so why should I get all hot and bothered when it comes to this subject?

Its really all cut and dry from my perspective. I have my personal morals and values but I can only apply them to myself.

This is why I count you among the most enlightened on the Hype, Bryant.

The Hell you say.

That's divine comedy and devilishly ironic at the same time.

lolz

I think without the drama the peace would drive the sane people here mad.

Oh by no means am I encouraging people to be a pain in the bum but we will always have those who feel the need to be trolls and flame things....

Which gives us the reasons for heroes right? Those like the MODS who save the day :)

This thread is awesome

I agree. It has come to raise the point of - without bad would there be such a thing as good?

Or to a Hype users point of view - if there were no trolls/rule breakers would there be a need for mods?
