?

what should be done about indecent images on the hype

  1. there should be a rating system so younger hypsters cant see inappropriate images

  2. the images should be banned altogether

  3. things should stay as is

  4. I don't know / care

As many of you will be aware many images on the hype are in poor taste avatars, posts ect. now the question is, should there be some sort of rating for threads that are for adult viewing only to save our younger hypesters from seeing what they really shouldn't or should these indecent images be banned all together.

Hmmm, well I'm pretty sure the same standards apply to every facet of the Hype forums. No section gets any special treatment, far as I know. It's the same old story with something like avatars, though. One person's rights begin where another person's end.

Hence the conflict of morals and censorship.

i personally think say what you like do what you like see what you like as long as its not to the detriment of others now i know that my 11 year old nephew sometimes comes on here and i think as there is no age limit on the hype there should e stricter guidelines on what acceptable what happened to the thing about "would you be comfortable showing it to your mother" people dont seem to adhere to that which need sorting out

The problem with what is bolded is how would one enforce that? I mean, you can put a rating on a thread but it's not going to stop anyone from going in the thread. Kind of like an R rated movie or whatnot.

I do agree though that some avatars and pictures posted do push the limits a bit, but there hasn't been anything that objectional, at least from the threads I've looked at.

the thing is though you have to give your age to get an account which is where that policy could be helpful

Lack of punctuation gives the thread creator bad rep...therefore losing cred in a thread they are trying to portray as a serious issue.

I'm not a prude, but this is a comic book forum -- there's no need for pictures like the ones mentioned. Sure, there are adults on here, but if they want that kinda stuff they should find other sites other than 'superhero' hype!

    I'm buying some punctuation's for Xmas. Aren't I a lucky bastard?

Any who I'm happy with the way things are on the ol hype. I haven't heard any complaints from moms or anything.

If you do put a age restriction on the forums or certain parts, you can still pretend your old enough. It's like porn sites. You will be asked for an age and youngsters lie and simply put in 18yrs old.

Parents should monitor what their children view on the internet. If they don't and know that their children are actively posting on a website that has material that they, as parents, don't want their children viewing...then that's on them.

When it was spidermanhype, than fair enough, spidey is always going to be a family movie at heart.

but when you have a site that engulfs adult rated superhero movies like blade that has decaptiation and blood and gore and then have kids accessing that as easily as they can information about spiderman, then you kinda are preaching with one hand and being guilty of corruption on the other.

even with the games forum, not all the games discussed there are for children of all ages yet all the info is there. Not that they can't get it from another site if they truelly wanted but then the same can be said about sourcy avatars or women dressed seductively.

Personally if i ran this site, i would put a disclaimer on it and make it a teen and above site (since most people who come here are in their teens or young adults anyway) but i don't think the powers that be wish to alienate their fans.

meh, if i truelly wanted to see porn, i'd just use one of those sourcy banners that come up on this site every once in a while...

I think Ebaums World uses V bulletin just like the hype and is a much more adult themed forum. I could be wrong.

Come to think of it, I've never even met anybody under the age of like 15 here. JLBats used to the youngest I knew, and now it's Deep Thinkin. And those 2 were more than mature enough to see a scandalous avatar or two.
