Decoding THE MATRIX TRILOGY anyone? Discuss the films here.

What was interesting about it was the references that they always made. There are SO many references to philosophy and anime and pop culture and sci-fi, etc, etc in the first one, and I think during one interview the Wachowski brothers were asked how much of it was on purpose and they said, "All of it."

Then they had some crazy random stuff in Reloaded and I still don't quite understand where the references came from...and obviously Revolutions took a lot from religion, especially Hinduism. A media studies major could write A LOT of books about the Matrix trilogy, that's for sure, LOL.

I dunno if you have the ultimate matrix collection.
If you haven't rent it , and pop in disc 8 where they discuss about the philosohpy of the movies.
Great stuff

Well alot of stuff in the matrix trilogy makes sense to me. And what i like about it is that you can have multiple interpretations and each time it's interesting to see just how many of those things work for some reason.
VERY TRUE!...

theres just so much material.....

you just have to watch it several times and theres still more you open up to.

Totally.
But yeah , they should hurry with those frikkin art of reloaded and revolutions books dammit :(.
I'm very much interested to see just what they cut from the movies. I mean what i know from the Wachowskis is that they usually stick to their script and the closest you'll come to deleted scenes are the storyboards.

I mean Geof Darrow told there were 3 version of the superbrawl drawn. And the first one ( which he did) was all out Superman action with buildings being smashed to bits

Hot jambalaya I'd like to see that.

Yeah you're going to wait alog time for that :(
I , along with lots of die-hard) matrix fans , have been waiting for these books since 2003. Sadly nothing .There just isn't a profitable market anymore.

Don't start with that :p

The first concept of the superbrawl was really wrecked buildings and huge craters and smith throwing neo on punch causes neo to go thru buildings and coming out of another one.
Big huge destruction

sounds like the final battle to me.......

superman had no action:p

If you're talking about the movies then yes :p

What i also liked , especially in Matrix revolutions was the whole VFX work done by tippett studios on the mechanical creatures of zero one and zero one itself.

I'd love to see them doing similar work in a possible superman movie.

Also i still feel that this pic is prove that the work on Matrix Revolutions was new and far superior then anything in 2003.
THEY GOT ROBBED AT THE OSCARS DAMMIT !

Totally.
NeoDammerung rules dammit

btw , you should hear the score that Don Davis created for the movies . All of the tracks , and not just the songs from the soundtrack. It's far far more greater. Easily his best work there.

And also have you heard the original songs of the burly brawl and the chateau fight ?
It's really different. The original burly brawl is all chaos but better then the Juno Reactor one and the Chateau fight sounds like those old swashbucking songs.

You should listen to the instrumental songs on Rob D's furious angels album.
ALL SONGS are amazing.

As for OScars which could've been given :

Best Art Direction
Best Cinematography
Best Score
Best VFX
Best editing
Best Sound
Best Sound Effects editing

No Wachowski commentaries. But there are commentaries by guys who hate the films! Seriously.

In the UK, DVDs fall in price so quickly. I picked up the 10-disc set for £20, when it was released only a year and a half ago for £70.

Yes , i've watch them almost every two months really :D
My favorite by far as the CG explanations about the burly brawll , superbrawl and siege and the car chase. However Roots of The matrix dvd is also great , with them discussing about philosohpy of the matrix. Believe me , it'll really open you're eyes to just how much symbolism in in the matrix movies.

But they should've look at the Matrix Revisited dvd.
There are alot of things lacking.

1 The training session of the actors , that was presented so great in the M1 revisited dvd was absent in Reloaded and revlutions dvd and even the zion archive
2 Shooting all those scenes with the actors reflecting back. Again beautifully done in M1 revisited dvd.
Completely absent in the reloaded , revolutions revisted dvd and the zion archive
3 More details about how they created 01. They had a good explanation with the double disc edition of the matrix revolutions but there's nothing mentioned in the 10 disc dvd.
