Dexter - Part 2

I wanted Doakes to be like he is in the books. I feel like Lundy would've been around more had Carradine's brother not killed himself.

Omg! Me too! I'm on season 2 now and god he was just such a great character! Same with Lundy! This show dropped the ****ing ball SO BAD in killing both Lundy and Doakes. Those two characters should have stayed on and ended up being the ones to eventually take down Dexter. This show dropped the ball almost as bad as Heroes did, it was just left on tv because it draws a crowd. This **** saddens me seriously bad. All they did was try and subscribe to the seasonal acrcs like True Blood instead of having one big progressing narrative more like Boardwalk Empire or Breaking Bad
I'm also on season 2, and I can agree, if Dexter were to get caught, I would have wanted it to be by Lundy and Doakes. Doakes was killed way too soon....and replaced by Quinn? Seriously wtf?

The problem with Dexter is after Rita died they should have taken Dexter to some intensely dark places. Its stunning how Breaking Bad is pushing its character into truly monstrous territory and Dexter seems intensely afraid of making its lead unlikable.

Dexter in S1 and S2 had an edge to him that he's lacked as the show's gone on. They touched it briefly again when Brian returned which was by far the best the series as been since S4.

I'm hoping that since they're going to be sort of exposing Dexter to Deb that he'll get to be a bit creepy again.

I love Quinn, don't get me wrong, but Doakes and Lundy were just absolutely BRILLIANTLY written characters. Up until they are killed. Especially Lundy, they give you hints that he is slightly suspicious of Dexter but just chalks it up to him being into his job but he was just a great character. Doakes, I dunno. He was almost TOO GOOD of a character. He's so good that he couldn't help but figure out Dexter within two seasons and that basically tells us the writers are basically saying "All these other characters over here, they're ****ing idiots." know what I mean?? The ball was dropped on a massive level with this show and not just in the Doakes and Lundy thing. There's a big list of reasons. I still love this show but it could have been as good as something like Breaking Bad but it just isn't and never will be. These last two seasons have to get really good to truly make this show great again.

Doakes knew Dexter was bad because he 'felt it in his bones'. :hehe:

Good lord season 3 is boring as ****! I do like Jimmy Smits but the plot is just so tiresome. I can't wait to rewatch season 4
though. Man, those were the days

Season 4 was incredibly awesome. Season 5-6 were kinda mediocre, but Season 7 looks like it's going to be just good as Season 4.

I like season 4, but I think it is overrated when comparing it to 1 and 2.

We're almost there. I'm very surprised the premiere hasn't 'leaked'... I think either 1. Showtime is going to do what they did with the Weeds premiere and release it on facebook... or 2. they just aren't 'leaking' it because how big of an event it is finally seeing Deb and Dex.

I still think season 2 is my favorite. I'll probably rewatch it soon.

since they are going the route of Deb knowing... i hope they don't hold back. I want her to know everything. Like how he helped Lumen, killed trinity, etc.

go all out these last 2 seasons.

This

not sure what to make of it, but a new character and 2 episode story arc are introduced in the last 2 episodes this season. I hope we don't get a season ending with a cliffhanger.

Why would he tell her everything? Best to spin it.say Rita's death pushed him.

Well, she finds out he is the BHB. So might as well come clean about everything maybe the truth is what keeps Deb from busting him.

Yea, I want her to find out about EVERYTHING. I even want somebody, Deb or Laguerta, about Miguel and Doakes (Laguerta here) and Trinity and Lumen/Jordan Chase. This stuff needs to come to light.

It'd be amazing to dedicate a whole episode to Dex just sitting her down and tell her everything right from the start, just the two of them with flashbacks to previous seasons. It'd be a fantastic change of pace and could be an amazing episode with some emotional performances from both actors.

I wouldnt mind if thats how it ended with both Deb and dexter a room

Dexter:where should I begin?
Deb:how about from the begining

closing credits

both good ideas. id like deb to be protecting dex from laguertas investigating or something like that as well

one guy on a table doesn't make him the BHB. He has a chance to spin this. She still should think doakes was the BHB.

I want her to know everything also but no reason for Dexter to tell her, there is so much she doesn't need to know.

No no no. Deb is waaaaaay too good of a detective to not put 2 and 2 together. I mean, it's already been revealed in the trailers that she puts it all together pretty fast just like she should. This show HAS TO change the status quo if it is to ever provide any kind of resolution to the story thus far. Also, Deb helping Dexter in any way whatsoever is totally out of character for her. Her not telling is one thing, but her actually hindering an investigation for him? I just don't see it, they've almost built Deb up as such a great character that I've had problems imagining how they even can deal with this without it seeming out of place. You guys know what I'm saying? Like, i remember that scene from season 2 of Dex imagining the scenarios of how her reaction might turn out and it's just really hard to imagine how she will deal with it at all. What we have seen so far though in the trailer looks amazing. If this season doesn't deliver I may ****ing cry come December lol.

I never said Dex had to tell her everything, but he can tell her a few things and she can put it together herself. One guy on a table doesn't make him the BHB? Ok, I'll give you that. But the fact that she saw the ritualistic killing, the blood slide that is found, and the re-opening of the BHB case does in fact make him the BHB. Those, and well, his is the BHB.

They've evolved her character to do this. In season 2 she said she'd kill the BHB. In season 5, she let murderers go because she felt like they were doing the right thing. it is a slower progression of her character than in the books IMO. She loves him in more ways than one lol, follows her fathers footsteps, and believes, for the most part, in Dexters style of justice, she proved that with Lumen/Dex.

Yea that's true. It's still just hard for me to imagine how this will all actually play out. From this point on the show is going to feel completely different now that she knows. I really REALLY hope they can handle this competently enough to give Dexter the send off he deserves.

Anybody ever notice Lundy's reference to Trinity in the second season. When he's leaving he says "There's been a pattern of bodies found in Oregon." They show that specific quote on the "previously on" part at the start of the 4th season so it has to be in reference to Trinity. I've come to respect the writing of this show a lot more after re-watching it. The 6th season left a really dirty feeling in me but the hopes of the upcoming season have totally drowned out those feelings

I think that too. I mean, I feel like they need, they must, revisit past seasons, the twist about Deb finding out about Dex is HUGE. There's crearly a very big opportunity for things to finally change in the show. The whole dynamics between the characters are upside down.
