IF the finale will be great, it won't make this season great, BUT it will make up for it a bit! I'm rooting for a great finale, but I don't believe we'll get one.

Btw, why do some of you guys keep saying Masuka is useless? Was he ever more than just a side character? He never was involved in the main stories nor directly connected to Dexter!

As for his daughter story, nothing really special, but I'm not bother by it either. I dont care but it doesn't bother, why should it? For taking 2 mins from each episode? Come on! It's like that is the problem with this whole season and you know it! With or without this story, the season wouldn't be any better or worse.

I don't agree with that. I think S1, S2, and S4 were on BrBa levels. It was more then just a procedural with a dark twist, it examined some very dark themes about humanity through Dexter himself.

Had the writing stayed on par with those seasons, this would have been a show that would have gone down as one of the greats. But it floundered and never reached that potential.

You're more than entitled to your opinion. I should just clarify that I'm not saying Dexter didn't have themes and substance. It did/does. But having dark themes alone doesn't make something great. Execution factors in a lot too. The production value, the dialogue, the acting, the supporting cast, etc. I just feel that BrBa has always been more subtle and artistic, which is what puts it on that truly elite level with The Sopranos. To me, Dexter was always in a class just below that (I also don't think Showtime started producing "HBO quality" content until Homeland). But there's nothing wrong with that either. If the show had stayed the course and not outstayed its welcome, it indeed would've gone down in history as a very strong show. "One of the greatest", I'm not so sure, but it would've definitely left a better legacy than it seems to be leaving now.

Idk if that's directed at me, but if so it's pretty ironic because the only reason I even went on my recent tirade is the fact that week after week everyone has been comparing the two final seasons and I was beyond annoyed with it. The point of my posts that have called Breaking Bad a better show isn't simply to hoist up Breaking Bad for the sake of it...it's actually my way of defending Dexter by saying that it's an unfair comparison to begin with.

This will be my last post on the matter. But rest assured, I wouldn't have even brought BrBa into this discussion at all if it weren't for the weeks and weeks of constant comparisons and potshots.

Now, finale tonight. Time to reflect. What's everyone's favorite episode of Dexter?

The Getaway. I also really liked Shrink Wrap from Season 1, which is the episode where Dexter admits to his psychatrist victim that he's a serial killer, and we get the end reveal with Rudy as the ITK.

My comment is directed at every single poster who felt the need to draw the two into some kind of macabre contest of who can finish better. I've never watched Breaking Bad and with all the constant comments in here I don't know I want to anymore. It went beyond mere comparison and into a pissing contest. I don't even have to watch Breaking Bad to know its finale will be better. Dexter has **** itself so badly this season it's literally not a contest... yet people keep acting like it is.
