Horror Dexter - Part 6

he found the other way to cut things into pieces with a chainsaw...

and Joe Von... I must have blocked that part out :hehe: Jeff Lindsey is a whack ass writer.

...just let this thread die with the last few seasons of the show.

I don't know about you, but I am still fighting a hurricane.

I been rewatching seasons 1-4 and it's been really good. Looking back when Rita died they could of ended it right there and gone out on a high. The next 4seasons aren't terrible they have their moments but they don't compare. Well anyway I did a Google search and I found I'm not the only who missed the show. So did David Nevins, why did I bring him up you ask. Well because he's the president or whatever at SHOWTIME and wants to bring it back.

Wouldn’t it be better if they just rebooted the series with a new actor? Who wants to continue that version of the character after *that* embarrassment of a series finale?

It’d be better to start over from scratch, and do something closer to the spirit of the original books, imo.

I wouldn't want a reboot with a new actor at all. That sounds dumb.

Dexter had an all time quality nosedive after s5. Only to be beaten out by Weeds and HIMYM imo. I think if Dexter ended with season 5, it would be regarded as a top 5 TV drama. But yeah those last seasons were just turrible. AND on top of that the finale itself was horrendous. As @NotNickFury said, you can really only go up from the finale.

I am cautious about this. The thing that excites me is that Clyde Phillips the exec producer and showrunner from the first 4 (best) seasons is coming back. That's at least a good start.

Maybe it'll be a new detective hunting Dexter to his *sigh* woodland hideaway. As bad as the finale was I think there are some seeds there where they can pick up the series in an interesting fashion. I hope they keep it limited.

In all honesty, I've been hoping for this. There's potential here. Dexter is in self imposed exile and he's drawn back into the fold. Besides is it really an ending if it ended terribly?

A nice one off story to end on a high note, not even a traditional ending, but a high note is welcome.

Yeah thinking about it of all the shows I liked or liked, bad finale or not, Dexter is the only one I'm open or cautiously optimistic about a revival. As long as it's limited.

There's a story to be had there and it's a chance to at the least redeem the finale. The bummer is that we're not gonna get the Dexter vs Debra ending we should've gotten

Also here is how Clyde Phillips said he would've ended the show
In the very last scene of the series, Dexter wakes up. And everybody is going to think, 'Oh, it was a dream.' And then the camera pulls back and back and back and then we realize, 'No, it's not a dream.' Dexter's opening his eyes and he's on the execution table at the Florida Penitentiary. They're just starting to administer the drugs and he looks out through the window to the observation gallery. And in the gallery are all the people that Dexter killed—including the Trinity Killer and the Ice Truck Killer (his brother Rudy), LaGuerta who he was responsible [for] killing, Doakes who he's arguably responsible for, Rita who he's arguably responsible for, Lila. All the big deaths, and also whoever the weekly episodic kills were. They are all there. That's what I envisioned for the ending of Dexter. That everything we've seen over the past eight seasons has happened in the several seconds from the time they start Dexter's execution to the time they finish the execution and he dies. Literally, his life flashed before his eyes as he was about to die. I think it would have been a great, epic, very satisfying conclusion

I hope this redeems them after that god awful last season. Honestly I want dexter to wake up from a nap and reveal seasons 5-8 was just a dream

Dexter was one of my favorites. Absolutely loved the first 4 seasons. Didn’t really mind 5-7 but the final season was just horrible. Hopefully this makes up for it.

Well this news has me looking up Blu Ray prices for the first 5 seasons...revivals work

Wow!! I dont know why Im surprised, everything is coming back but i wasnt expecting this one.

Dexter was at one point one of my all time favorite tv shows and then it just nosedived into oblivion. In fact; to this date i have still not finished watching season 8 (even though i know what happens). I just couldnt do it. This could potentially be a way for the show to go out on a good note...or it could just make it worse. Lol

I really don't know how it could be worse haha.

Unless they make it so the whole series, not just the bad seasons, were just a dream. Other than that it can only be an improvement imo

We knew this was coming eventually.

Season 7 is pretty solid from what I remember. 6 and 8 are awful. 6 has to be the worst season of television I've ever seen. 5 is fine too, but they did that story in seasons 2 and 3.

Season 1 and 4 are my favorite, 4 being the pinnacle of the show and just being terrific television.

Just give me a proper ending for this show and I'll be satisfied. I still remember binging this for the first time some years ago and loving those earlier seasons, but being really disappointed in the rest. That final season was especially trash and while I would just love for them to forget about those later seasons entirely I do think they have something interesting to work with after that Series Finale.

As long as you have good writers and a good script they can definitely lay the groundwork for another great season, especially if they have learned from their mistakes with the past seasons.
