The replacements for the character may have already been told to us
the ex inlaws will maybe play a bigger role next season

god this is killing me. I wont see it til tomorrow night at the soonest. but probably tuesday in actuality. Ugh. DAMN IT

Quinn, its already online..just look around...

Well, it was never addressed that Dexter adopted Astor and Cody. So he may not be legally allowed to take custody of them before he does so. I'm sure the grandparents were brought in as characters for more than just getting the two kids out of the plot for this episode.

It will probably just be him and Harrison for a good part of next season, but I'm sure once he's done brooding and being shut off, Dexter will try and get them back permanently. (Unless they decide he did adopt them off screen, in which case never mind.)

MY GOD THEY REALLY KILLED RITA:csad:

We're going to see a much more resentful and careful Dexter next season. He's seen now what could happen with his lifestyle, and he most definitely blames himself for
Rita's death.
Things are going to get very interesting.
BUT, we will get to have some great comedy opportunities for next season! Dexter Morgan: Single Dad! Deb will most certainly be taking a more motherly role.

As he should. There had to be consequences for him breaking the code. I hope this leads to him coming to terms with Harry.

Also, I wonder if Benz is being written out or if Dexter's guilt over Rita will cause her to become a subconscious representation of his dark passenger like Harry?

Also, I sorta wish we could've seen the murder. I can't help but wonder what Trinity told Rita before doing it.

I don't know, I think that scene might have been a little too ****ed up / intense to see. That other bathtub death was messed up enough with her slow death while being hugged by Trinity, and we had no connection to that girl. That plus Harrison probably being in the room crying.

I'm not thrilled that they killed her off, so I'm glad they didn't have a scene showcasing her murder in front of her baby. I think that would have been a little too much.

I want some more context about why Arthur did it, and why he decided to put Dexter's son in the middle of it. I'm sure he was just there when Rita came home and had to react to it, but from the context of the show he was only going after Dexter because he knocked him out / stole his money, killing Rita and leaving Harrison in her blood seems a bit excessive. There's also no way he had enough time to learn about Dexter's past, so he accidently hit the jackpot of what would mess with Dexter the most.

wow, that was awesome...

What's a bit disappointing is that after the building anticipation Rita's murder wasn't the payoff I was expecting tbh, nothing compares to the 1st season reveals on Dex's "birth" and Brian's family ties. I was expecting Debra to finally discover Dexter the serial killer, however this perfectly sets it up for s5, that family will def out Kyle Butler as Dex, and Deb will start to put **** together, like why is Dexter at every major serial killer bust before she is, 3 times is not a coincidence. Bah, and its already over. Loved S4

Wow what a finale.

As annoying as she was. I did not want to see Rita die.

Wonder if they will keep her around like they did with Harry and have her as Dexters human side since he will be pretty cut off again after everything.

oh man, the ending was insane, feel so sorry for Dexter. I didn't want to Rita to die, but damn Arthur got him got him good

I knew Rita would die dammit...it ruined the episode for me.

I HATE spoilers and even though it was several weeks ago and it wasn't confirmed, the whole time i just knew it,from the fact that they've made her sympathetic and lovely this episode to the fact that it was obvious that someone was going to die.:csad:

Amazing episode nevertheless but i still feel it's too much of a stretch for Trinity to have killed her...if Rita wasn't suppose to go somewhere it would've been better but this way it's way too much of a coincidence.

my thoughts EXACTLY. especially the first part.

I never agreed with the Rita haters, I liked her character and thought she brought a good balance to the show, and the scenes with her and Dexter brought a lot of heart. It's going to be weird without her.

Dexter proposing to Rita -

To be honest, the more i think about the ending the more preposterous and unlikely it becomes.

It's obvious they were trying to make Dexter pay for breaking the code but killing Deb would have been 10 times better, even though i like her and i think the actress is doing a phenomenal job this year.

Trinity already knew where she lived and she wasn't suppose to go anywhere. There was no need for a miraculous return so the killing would work. And i'm sorry but the baby in blood witnessing his mothers dead is way too spanish soap opera,it's like Peter Parker's son getting himself bitten by a spider..on a school assignment.

I'm not strictly against the fact they made Rita die,the way they've done it was cheap and more shocking than any sort of logical and/or plausible.Finding that Dexter was a cold blooded murderer and then killing herself (3 bad husbands, etc) would have been at least acceptable as far as i'm concerned.

What.The.F***.
I can't believe Rita got killed. :csad: :cmad:
I wonder if it was Trinity or the neighbor. I'm sure it was Trinity though.
It's going to be weird without her though.

In the interview after the episode, Hall and Lithgow discuss that it was Trinity and how that impacts what he says on Dexter's murder table.

Oh, I'm gonna have to check out that interview.

I honestly couldn't sleep all night just thinking about this. :hehe:

About that after-show interview, why is Michael C. Hall's head shaved? Is it for a movier, or something? It'd certainly be interesting if he kept the look for season four.
