True Blood is different though. Believe me I cant stand Twilight or all the emo-vamp crap out nowadays. True Blood is totally different and is a brilliant show. Plus the whole concept of vampires being known to the public is something fresh as opposed to them sparkling in sunlight.
Thanks. I think I might get caught up with the series by watching HBO On Demand then. :cwink:

You really should man. I was hesitant at first but I watched the first 10 eps in a row ondemand last year outta boredom and after the first 2 I was hooked. It is seriously an outstanding series. The books are good too but the show is better

With Lost, I thought it was up there with the early seasons, but lost its way a little more recently. Season 5 did a lot to sway me back, though.

I was the exact opposite, couldn't stand the early seasons of Lost, mostly because I didn't trust the show. It never went anywhere, and an evil producer could have dragged the show out like that, without any changes to the story...

It wasn't til the last 2 seasons that Lost got locked into one of my favorite shows.

I got hooked on Lost after I watched the season 3 finale. Up till then I was a casual viewer but after that mind**** at the end with the flashforward thats when I went and got the boxsets and got straight hooked. Personally I dont think it was really all that interesting until season 2 anyways. When the DI got introduced is when things really picked up on the wtf factor for me

I hate the idea of them using Rita as his conscious. It's so trite. Let Harrison be his conscious if he has to have one. Hell, Harry is his conscious in a lot of ways. But if the sight of his baby in that blood bath doesn't bring out that side of him, nothing will.

Isnt The Wire just like a crime drama though? I mean seriously what makes it stand out? Im just wanderin cuz Ive always heard nuthin but great things about it but Ive never watched it and am intrigued just by the word of mouth alone

It's just an incredibly well made show. Nothing is oversimplified and the world of The Wire, unlike that of most shows, feels like it works just like the real world without sacrificing any of the narrative's excitement.

In my opinion, Season 4 stands out as the best season Dexter has ever had. I have always liked the show, but it was with this season that, for me, it truly took its place alongside Mad Men and maybe House as one of THE best shows currently on TV, and has even begun to fill the void left in my TV life after the demise of The Shield and The Wire.

have you checked out breaking bad? i much prefer it to mad men (though i do quite like mad men) and even the wire. i think breaking bad is the best tv show i've ever seen.

Yeah Breaking Bad is really an amazing show. Have you guys checked out United States Of Tara not the best show ever but still a great series. True Blood rocks can't wait too see what the werewolves look like.

In Season 1, it's a crime drama. One of the most detailed, immersive crime dramas you'll ever see. But as it progresses, it becomes so much more, with the story getting bigger and bigger and incorporating more aspects of Baltimore, all the while maintaining the police VS drug dealers storyline at its core. Season 2 studies the death of the American working class. Season 3 starts a longform storyline about Baltimore City Council, and the role of Govermnent in the city. Season 4 confronts the grievous failings in the school system. And Season 5 looks at the power and the responsibility of the media, and the role of the newspaper in the internet age.

As each story is picked up, it's continued on into the next season, the cast growing and each season becoming more ambitious and overarching than the last. The Wire unflinchingly addressed real-life social issues, and could make me genuinely angry and emotionally-involved like no other show. It managed to extend beyond entertainment, and become something of actual cultural importance. By the end, it wasn't just about Baltimore, but about all cities, and all systems within it rather than just drug gangs and the police.

I'll always have a soft spot for The Shield as an all-time personal favourite of mine. But objectively, setting personal preference aside, The Wire is simply the best TV show ever made.

I recently said this in another thread:

I'm pissed at Breaking Bad, through no fault of its own. I saw Season 1, and LOVED it. Since then, I have been waiting patiently for months upon months for Season 2 to finally come to UK TV. Every week I've done a full-week schedule scan of FX (where Season 1 aired in the UK) to make sure I didn't miss the new season.

Then a couple of nights ago, I was doing some aimless late night channel hopping, and stumbled across the nearly-finished third episode of Season 2......now showing on Five USA. Apparently the 2nd season has already started, but it's been moved to a different channel, hence me missing it! :(

Worse still, after writing this, I discovered that this 3rd episode was just a random schedule-filling repeat, and in fact Five USA are on the 7TH episode of the season now! So I think I'll just get it on DVD.

See thats how I feel about Lost and BSG. Now I feel like I should really check The Wire out. Oh and whoever said it Breaking Bad is way up there on my list of must watch tv and United States of Tara is great. Toni Collettes performance is amazing

should just download the entire season, unless you're one of those law-abiding citizens...

the second season of breaking bad blows the first out of the water.

yea breaking bad stepped its game up immensely in the second season

so yeah....I like when Dexter kills people....

.......

.......

.

Haha! It's a little like that hey Quinn?

Not much else to talk about at the moment though :(

I'm hanging out for any news relating to Dexter. Anything!

lol yeah I know...we're in Dexter limbo. We should all just take turns making our own weekly dexter stories or turn-by-turn scenes for our own episode or something....

I don't mind :)

One thing I would definitely like to talk about is how you all want Dexter to end when all is said and done?

With Dexter, the day after getting away with his latest kill, in the department, looking around at all the normal activity as everyone remains oblivious to what he really is. We get a little inner monologue, he gives the camera a quick smile, cut to black.

Pretty much business as usual? :)

That's what I was thinking too...but I dunno, the Rita death could be a bit of a game changer? No one's really sacred anymore...Dexter included.

Not that I think he will die...but...I dunno. I wouldn't rule it out either maybe.

Yeah, that was my hope before Rita's death. Now, we don't know what normal is anymore, if there even is one.

I think the final season should be something along the lines of he somewhat gets caught...

and they can do a vigorous court trial throughout the season, while he still runs around doing what he does (sometimes knowingly being watched). There could maybe be a crooked lawyer against him (crooked in that he falls into Dexter's code somehow) and Dexter has to find a way to off him to A)fulfill his code and B) save his ass. Then maybe when all is said and done and the trial is over and Dexter barely makes it from going to jail for life, they could show him the office, a regular work day, final monologue, cut to black (as mentioned above).

I just feel like there has to be some instance where Dexter either gets caught or comes extremely close to being caught and there is only one determining factor that'll save his ass.

Ive thought about Dexter on trial every since I started watching this show, I dont think itll happen though. All I know is I wanna see a cannibal on here damnit! I wanna see a TRUE monster Dahmer or Andrei Chikatilo style. Someone that Dex cant learn a damn thing from but is just as smart and allusive and actually frightens Dex
