Dexter

I agree Dexter was more efficient in the first season, but I think the writers are wanting to add more drama by shaking things up a bit.
I'd like to see more of the Trophy box. We only saw it used ONCE in season 4 and only got a brief glimpse of it this season...

Dexter's victim this week said that he was helping the women that he killed. My guess is Julia Stiles will be a rape victim addict. She will essentially be a younger Rita and Dexter will help her put her life back together while she helps him do the same. I don't think it will be romantic. Simply plutonic. I think you guys are jumping to conclussions about her being Lila/Miguel 2.0 too quickly.

As for the nanny, I dunno. I don't see her being a victim of Dexter. I think she is so perfect because it fits the plot to have her be perfect. You can't have Dexter taking Harrison with him on his kills nor can you always have Deb sidelined by watching Harrison. The nanny is an easy solution for where to put Harrison while the other characters are doing things.

Most likely, but it's fun to think of all the different scenarios.

I guess in the shows defence, they don't want to make him too good as there just wouldn't be ANY suspense at all then.

I think he's honestly become a poor Serial Killer but that's totally intentional on the part of the writers. Harry was hitting him over the head for choosing to do a daytime killing and the whole arc of season 4 was him losing his edge by becoming emotionally invested. The more human he becomes the worse of a killer he is.

Yeah I made the call that the female cop is in on it. Seems like a twist this show would pull and would give Deb a nemesis of her own that she isn't having sex with.

Yeah, she seemed iffy from the very first scene with her, when they found the first head in the park.......but it just seems too obvious that she has something to do with it; or maybe that's what they want us to think. She sure as hell fills out a pair of jeans nicely though. :hrt:

And once again the Angel and Laguerta aspect of the show is becoming like nails on the chalk board. Why the hell can't we get a good storyline involving Masuka instead?

because all he does is creep lol and make dark comedic jokes:awesome:

The only reason i think the nanny is bad is cause she said she liked the way he looked sleeping and that just screams baby killer

Whoa! I would really hate to see what would happen to that Nanny if she tries to hurt Harrison. That would, um wow. That would just not end well for her.

I really doubt the nanny is dodgey...but I do think she could accidentally stumble on Dexter's trophies.

Yeah, Dexter has lost his edge. His last kill went completely horrible for him.

Should have listened to Harry...

Even if she finds them, what does that tell her? That Dexter has some blood slides? Being as he is a blood spatter analyst, its not too hard to explain those away. The only reason Doakes was able to connect the trophies to murder is because he already suspected Dexter to be the Bay Harbor Butcher. To a layman, the slides won't mean much.

I wouldn't say he has lost his edge at all.

Dexter just lost his wife who he genuinely loved, which to him was a huge deal. Plus losing the kids didn't help. So rather than losing his edge he was just desperate for something to fill up a hole.

He put a lot of planning into the kill but desperation got the better of him and I'm sure he regrets the kill because it did nothing for him. I think that Julia Stiles character will be the answer to his grief.

Agreed. I think helping someone, instead of hurting them will prove to be the answer to his grief.

Dexter will bang the nanny this season, bank on it. Also that cop reminds me of Det. Ramirez from The Dark Knight.

Yeah, he did get desperate for this last one.

He is taking more chances since the first season, too. I remember last season when he was hunting down Trinity, him sneaking around a guarded office building with video cameras was something different and added tension. Bigger chances does mean more room to screw up.

He did underestimate his last kill, too. Him noticing Dexter's missing wedding band was Dexter's first sign.

It was a great episode. Nice ending too, and next week's looks like it'll be good. I'm hoping Dexter will wear his kill uniform soon, too.

Not to mention Doakes knows a trophy collection when he sees one. Dex could tell Sonya the slides are just samples for work and she'd never know the difference.

Anyway, yeah, things always seem to go wrong whenever Dex has to improvise. He's gonna wind up in exactly the same situation he found himself in with Doakes: He's got this person who knows his secret but isn't a bad person at all. Based on the preview for next week, it looks like he's gonna deal with it the same way he dealt with Doakes, too. Lock 'em up and try to figure something out later. Another improvisation that I'm sure won't work out too well for him.

Although I could see Stiles' character being so traumatized that she wants to be like Dexter. Yeah, Lila and Miguel didn't work out so great, but who knows? Maybe the third time's the charm for proteges.

If she finds them & shows them to Deb. Then that will cause a huge problem. Considering Dexter was so stupid as to buy the exact same looking box as the one that everybody saw belonged to the Bay Harbor Butcher. So Deb will know exactly what that is.

That would be a cool season cliffhanger. Is Dexter coming home & Deb is sitting down with the slides in her lap. Boom fade to black.

God it annoys me so bad when everyone keeps referring to Quinn as Doakes 2.0. They are completely different kinds of people yall! Doakes was an alpha-male meat head albeit stand up guy wanting to do what was right, Quinn isnt that type of guy AT ALL, hes allready shown himself to be somewhat dirty when it comes to ethics with the whole Antoine and stealing money from crime scenes. Plus Doakes was creeped out by Dexter from the very first episode, that was Doakes whole character, i mean Dex says it in the very first episode "Why in a building full of trained professionals, is Doakes the only one that is creeped out by me?" Not verbatim but you get the idea. This stuff with Quinn I find alot more intriguing and fun to watch cuz we have absolutely no idea how its all gonna play out and what the repercussions of Quinn finding out about ANY of Dex's extracurricular activities will be. With Doakes, as awesome as it was when it happened, it all kinda happened in a very predictable way and had been set up since the beginning of the show to happen. This is Quinns third season and hes just now starting to put the pieces together, Doakes did it in a season and a half basically. Ok rant now over

Anybody read the newest book? Dexter is Delicious. (I'm about 4 chapters from the end!)

The reason I say so is due to the fact he is dealing with human emotions in it a lot and it kinda reminds me of his current television predicament.

Well, technically, Doakes took a lot longer. He'd known Dex for some time before the point the show starts at. ;)

But I don't mind Quinn. I understand the comparisons to Doakes, since they're both at the center of plots that threaten to expose Dex's secret, but it's an ever-present threat in Dex's life, so I don't mind if they repeat it. The Mitchells and Quinn's conflicted feelings about investigating Dex because of Deb are making this time interesting in its own ways.
