I just finished the second season of Dexter. What fantastic writing. Heroes/Lost take note. That's how you follow up a terrific first season. What fascinated me was how the events and characters in the second season mirrored the first season. For instance:

The Hunt: Ice Truck Killer/Bay Harbor Butcher
The first season we were immediately introduced to the Ice Truck Killer, setting up a forensic serial killer pursuing a serial killer that filets his victims in very similar manner to Dexter -- in a sense trying to capture his doppleganger -- while eluding capture himself. Second season starts with the discovery of Dexter's victims and sets Dexter AS the doppelganger.

Relationship with Rita: Raul/Lila
First season Dexter's relationship whit his girlfriend Rita becomes rocky when her ex-husband, Paul enters the picture. Second season, it is flipped. Dexter's girlfriend Lila takes the place of the stalker/relationship breaker.

Incest Theme: Debra wants to bang her brother/father
First season, Dexter's sister Debra unwittingly starts boning Dexter's doppleganger, Rudy. Second season she sleeps with Frank Lundy -- a man who looks a lot liker her dead father, has a similar profession and personality. This girl want to keep it in the family.

Dexter's Daddy issues: Joe Driscoll/Santos
First season Dexter goes up north to learn about his biological father Joe Driscoll. Season two Dexter goes up north to confront his Dark Passenger's father, Santos.

Copycat Killers: Neil Perry/Ken Olsen
Both seasons have a copycat killer who is an inferior copy of the true killer. First season it's Neil Perry who claims to be the Ice Truck Killer but who actually only kills animals and cannot stomach the gritty stuff and the second copycat killer is a ****** who is incompetent at killing. Plus they both have names of Superman's associates.

Dexter's Nemesis: Brian/Lila
First season nemesis is Dexter's long lost brother Brian, who also goes by the alias Rudy. He sees behind Dexter's facade and encourages him to embrace the evil side of himself. He kidnaps someone who stands in the way of Dexter's decent into darkness, his sister. Second season it is Lila who also has a pseudonym, and she too sees behind Dexter's facade. She likewise tempts him, and attempts to kill the other people that the noble Dexter loves, Rita's children.

There's so much to analyze.

I'm really tempted to buy Season 1 on DVD however can someone basically tell me what this show is about....because if it is just about a guy killing people I dont think Ill be too interested

Forensics Scientist who specializes in blood-spatter analysis for the Miami Metro Dade Police Department by day, serial killer of criminals who slipped through the fingers of justice by night. He feels nothing, fakes all emotions and has a strict code taught to him by his late father, Harry Morgan, on how to control and exact the killing.

A/K/A: My favorite television series ever.

Watch out people. There is a major event in the season that is spoiled in the news section of IMDB thanks to an on-set prop mix up accident report. The same twist is also featured in the episodes synopsis in the last page so skip it if you don't want to know.

it crazy right? i specifically love the scene in season 2 with doakes and dex on opposite sides of the cage.

I'm really tempted to buy Season 1 on DVD however can someone basically tell me what this show is about....because if it is just about a guy killing people I dont think Ill be too interested

i mean it is about a guy killing people, but its much much more than that. its a pretty deep show too. a mind f***

god i hate when people spoil ****. i mean, they know they are spoiling it its not like its an accident. i just dont get the fun in it

my season 2 dvd didnt have any claim of season 3 info, or a MCH interview, but i pre ordered it on amazon so maybe they changed something after the release.

i hate this whole 'extras'.......but only if you use your computer..... wtf is that?

i dont know how dvds work, but is it showtime releasing them? or the studio that produced it? (weeds for instance is produced by Lionsgate, so is it lions gate releasing the dvd?)

Maybe your preordered DVDs were bootlegs, they just didn't tell you.

I'm right there with you on the "computer only" extras. It's one thing if it's advertised as such, and they also have some cool regular "computer not necessary" type extras. But making all the extras "computer only" or just advertisements for extras on other DVDs is BS.

I think it's the studio releasing the DVDs, but I'm not 100% sure so don't quote me on that.

That's what I thought when I first heard about it. But after hearing a bunch of positive reviews about the show, I decided to give it a try. Now I'm hooked. It's much deeper than just following the exploits of a serial killer. Kinda tough to fully explain without giving too much away. Rent Season 1: Disk 1 from Blockbuster and give it a try. I you like it, rent the rest of them. If you don't then don't. It's best to rent first before you buy. You don't want to pay $30 for something you end up not liking and can't return because it's been opened.

rumor has it tonights episode is where the **** starts hitting the fan. wooooo

Where can I watch Dexter online?

I've been visiting this one site in particular:

http://watchdextershow.com

and everything was all good until I got to the 9th episode of season two "Resistance is Futile". Now when I hit play it was episode 8! I checked twice to see if I had done something wrong and alas ep 8 has been posted twice there. I don't have showtime, and now this show has become my addiction and I really need to watch the rest of season 2. lol I looked ahead and episode 10 ain't working on that site neither.

I searched elsewhere but none of those videos work and there's another site that wants me to download something (a warning told me it was adware) before I can access the site. I looked on youtube and couldn't find ****.

Can someone help me out?! I need to catch up, this show is so good.

you can illegally download em

Uploads are only hosted for a limited amount of time before they are taken of, your best bet is to download it. Just be careful where you download it from as there are some sites that hold some nasty trojan viruses.

Good second ep.

Somethings up with that Internal Affairs chick. I'm not quite sure of what it is, but like i said before, i don't think she's IA. Hell, she might not even be a cop! Morgan hasn't even had the common sense to ask her for some id. :huh:It seems that every season, dex's sister end up being decieved or let down..and i'm sure the supposed IA chick is this season's ringer for her.

I know some were saying that Jimmy Smits is charcter can't be the killer this season after i predicted he might be....what do you think after seeing last nights ep? Maybe it's his brother....

she seemed like a total ***** . if i was deb i would've ran her over when i got into that car .

i think Miguel isnt the killer, but will become one. not the one dex will be chasing though.

i still REALLLLY think Laguerta has something to do with these killings. she was so sure doakes wasnt the BHB, so one way to prove it....have the BHB come after you, or whoever you want them to go after (shes getting someone else to make the kills).

That would be one hell of a twist if she was the killer. If she is, i hope they don't write her out the series. I've loved Lauren Velez since her days on OZ.

I'm curious to see where this baby storyline will go. It was funny to see Dexter's take on kids. That scene where he was at the doctor's office with Rita was entertaining. I'm glad to see james Remar still playing a role on the show since they don't have the flashbacks anymore.

The flash-backs better return and probably will when Dexter begins having to accept that Harry is the only person who can help him, so he'll look back. But also Fantasy Harry is really great, i.e. the park scene.

The ending, by the way, left me speechless. This is the best episode of Dexter in a long time. "Finding Freebo" was wow. That is all. The direction this season is taking is great. I'm so glad they have found a way to keep up with the brilliance of the second season in a great way. They knew what to do and how to do it with this one. Dexter giving up the code for his own was bound to have a lot of issues, such as losing sight of killing with a purpose.

Wow. Just...wow. Best show ever? Yes. Yes it is.

Surfthechannel.com no good? They have many mirrors for each episode. One of them is bound to be 209, 210, etc... Trust me.
