Peter Weller has joined the cast of the fifth season of Showtime’s Dexter. Weller is best known as the title character from the RoboCop movies and Buckaroo Banzai from The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension.

According to Deadline, Weller will be playing “a troubled Miami Metro police officer who gets caught up in an internal affairs investigation.” The actor will appear in eight of the twelve episodes. And yes, many will make the connection that his Buckaroo Banzai co-star John Lithgow appeared on last season, earning Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.

Don't forget that Dex really screwed the pooch last season be getting involved with Arthur's family. That and Rita's death is enough reason for me to think the IA investigation is going to be about Dex.

Dark Echo opens immediately after the death of Dexter's father, Harry, with Dexter in his early twenties and his sister Debra still in high school. Dexter is enrolled in medical school where he's studying anatomy to improve his "craft." During a routine kill, Dexter realizes that another student has been spying on him and knows that he is a serial killer. He confronts the student after he begins to commit murders in Dexter's style and the two clash over the ethics of their situations.

This looks so good the trailer is kinda creepy.
