I would just like to point out that the "big bad" of season 2 was Lila, not Doakes or Dexter.
Also, I personally was not a fan of season 3 because I never believed there was never any real threat to Dexter. Truthfully I don't think the writers had a clear enough idea of what they wanted to do with Miguel or The Skinner so the story just meandered along for the entire season. It's a shame really because Dexter having a friend and apprentice is a storyline with a lot of potential.
