Did you like the CGI?

I loved it, there are some weaker scenes. But most films suffer from that.

The effects got a bad rep because of

a) that damn Super Bowl commercial that started the whole "he looks like Shrek" BS

b) The leaked workprint with unfinished effects that many people saw before the official release (not me - I've seen the work print but that was after the rehular DVD came out)

Hulk looked fine.

Hulk looked great but not perfect ... with the budget it got, it looked great.

I loved it, some parts were below par, but 90% of the CGI is superb and still is.

In some scenes, Hulk looked like a real 3 dimentional character with substance. In some, he looked like a cartoon (like when he was changing in the house with Talbot there - horrible!). I wonder if they got the people who did Davey Jones in POTC2 to do him if it would be much better. I know the art has come a long way even since then and cgi is just the only way to do the Hulk.

I loved it! It looked real to me most of the time, and thats all that matters. It was the best IMO at the time. It was definitely better than any costume also.

Loved it he looked real in a way the CGI of the Hulk is what made the movie good other then thatcompletely corny other then the Gamma Dog fight in MY opinion.

Absolutely loved the CGI (Especially in the desert and when he changes back to Bruce in San Francisco) and even now when I watch it I still find it amazing.

Yes it was very good. Unlike Mr. Grimm. Big rubber suits are a thing of the past...

Hell yaeh! the CGI HULK was the best! though they could make an even improved version,i'm reffering to that scene in the house where talbot made him mad,but everything was great! the best part was when he was chased by the comanches he looked so real, like he was going at incredible speeds of 100 knots that even at their top speed the choppers had a hard time chasing him. the dust from the wind caused by the rotors looked so real too!

Only Kong has bettered the CGI Hulk IMO, but just imagine the CGI for the Hulk now. It would be superb.

Which is a big tribute considering the larger budget Kong had. Kong is definitely the best cgi character yet. I'm hoping ILM tries to top it with Hulk in the sequel.
Kong had it's share of weak cgi tho, those brontosaurs looked really weak during that stampede.

ILM did something amazing with Hulk given the time and the budget they had, WETA had 200mill, 2years and Peter Jackson.

Well at least we know now that the CGI in Hulk was definately not the big problem ;)

My feelings exactly, sure some moments are worse than others, though some scenes are just simply amazing.

I havent seen it in a while but I remember thinking the CGI was the best I had seen at that point.

I totally agree. My favorite part of the movie was when the Hulk turns into Bruce in San Fran.

He was very near perfect IMO. As Sava and other mentioned not in every sequence.... but man when he is standing still looking at Betty.... That entire smash and run in Cisco is basicaly perfect IMO.

My biggest complaint.... the change that takes place in front of Talbot....could have looked better and should have felt more viceral/painful for Bruce

People are starting to come around to the Hulk. The reason for the lackluster performance at the box office comes down to two things:

1) Most people are familiar only with the Hulk from the TV series, and the movie was more akin to the comic. Hell, the visual look of the movie was as close to the comic as any movie sans Sin City.

2) The plot was more cerebral and the directorial style was more art house than what the general public can comprehend. For one, it was nearly a full hour before we saw the title character.

plus crappy marketing

i don't know why hulk gets a bad rep for cgi, go and watch the first spidey film, all the wall crawling and swinging scenes looks like they've been copy and pasted on with a home comp :o

a credit to the hulk's cgi is that 3 years after it came out, it doesn't look dated. not many action films consisting of that much cgi can say that.

I thought it was excellent as well. I know that many (or most) of the CGI-bashing for Hulk comes from the unpolished pirated copy that was on the Internet a couple weeks before the film came out, where the CGI looked quite shiotty - but in the film, it was flawless.
I mean check out the facial expressions just before the Gamma-Dog fight, where he's outside Betty's house..that IMO is some top-notch CGI when they can get human emotions like that.
