Should Thor (the character) be CGI in a live action movie?

Pitt is a good actor and looks a bit like Thor. They'd need to CGI his physique though 'cause even when he's ripped (in Fight Club) he's about 1/3 as big as he needs to be. This is a difficult role to cast as Thor's physical presence is integral to the character. I don't think Pitt's age is a problem though as he looks the same age as Thor & he's in the shape of a man 10 years younger (at least).

There's noone (I can think of) who naturally fits the role AND can act so CGI physique on a good actor who looks like Thor is probably the best answer.

No to CGI. Even though Thor looks like a dude who spends about 7 days in a gym, no need for computer.

I'll take a real guy any day of the week. I don't care if he's not all that big. He's going to be covered in armor anyway.

. He's going to be covered in armor anyway.

Depends on which version of the costume they go with. Personally I want something based on the original, only not tucked into the crotch. I think the top should hang through his belt the way the current costume does but otherwise go with the original look.

John Cena?
Evidently, according to UGO, he is a strong candidate for Captain America...
He's got the body, the square jaw...
He just can't act.

Wait, I actually could buy Cena as Cap. And I think Cena is one of the best "actors" in the wrestling business

He would be in a stand-alone film at first.
I can't beleive that with all the complaining we do about actors not being big enough, you would say that he is too big.

There's typically 3 diff body sizes in the comic world and they'd be easy to transfer over to the big screen. The scrawny Spider-man build; which Toby fit perfectly. The medium Cyclops/Captain America build which is the easiest to attain. Then there's friggin Thor/Colossus which only a BIG man can pull off. A typical wrestler, football, player, etc fits that perfectly. If you were to cast HHH as Aquaman; who falls into the medium range, you'd be setting the standard so high. Steroid usage would be a requirement when casting the bigger guys like Thor.

IMO, Pitt is too small to be Thor and he could never gain enough muscle to pull it off. And HHH is too big for Aquaman. If I had my way, I'd cast all unknowns from here on out

Someone mentioned Karl Urban in one of the other threads. He could be a good choice.

I think what many are forgetting is that Thor will be altered and adapted for the big screen. He won't be 6'5''. He'll be about 6'. Sure he'll be a man in awesome physical shape with numerous shirtless scenes, but he will be a man.

It's no different to casting Brandon Routh or Christopher Reeve as Superman, who has always been drawn as physically impressive as Thor in the comics.

I just watched Pathfinder on cable today and yeah I can see Urban as Thor. He would need to beef up a bit but he could do it.

Reeve was acceptable b/c it was so long ago but I was buying Routh at all for that very reason

Dear God, no CGI, no wrestlers and no football players.

Actors, people. Actors.
