whats this bull**** i just read about vaughn having to rewrite a scene because of inception?

the trailers for inception have been out for a loong time how could he have missed it. lol

he should have never said it publicly.. that was just a dumb move. Just shoot it differently and forget about inceptions similar scene, tearing off 12 pages seems a bit drastic. I hope its not dumbed down just to be different...

There was a whole lot about Inception that wasn't in the trailer...and a busy guy like Vaughn probably wouldn't have the time to dissect and watch up on Inception clips or anything..

all im saying is the x-men have the astral plane which is way cooler than anything that inception did. since we were seeing a young xavier i thought we would get to see him fight shadowking or atleast experiment on the astral plane. i just hope they dont shy away. the telepathic stuff was already introduced in x-men 2, stryker's son put xavier in a false reality in x2. speaking of which, how old was jason. would he be in FC.

Yeah, it's funny how Jason was pretty much a mutant with Inception powers almost..

He made his mother (Stryker's wife) kill herself because she couldn't separate his projections from reality...

Posted this in another thread, but it has more relevance here..

Just got done watching the Kick Ass making of documentary. I suggest anyone who has the movie on bluray/dvd to watch it. It really goes in depth into the production from start to finish. It shows just how passionate Vaughn is of the projects he's attached to, and how perfect he wants everything to be (which is probably why he has yet to make a mediocre film). There's no doubt that he can handle X-Men. He wrote the Kick-Ass script with Goldman in 4 weeks, and he fired his production designer the second day of shooting. He literally had to hire someone new who had 2 weeks to design the entire film. Plus, he accomplished so much with limited time and budget. I can only imagine what he can do with a major blockbuster film budget.

I haven't bought a Blu-Ray/DVD in like 8 months...

Maybe Kick-Ass will be what I need to break the slump..

^Kick-ass is a great film I recommend it to anyone, its why my hopes for this movie arent rock-bottom like they usually are with Fox movies since X2.

As for the 12 pages thing I can see why it would worry some people, but I have faith in Vaughn to do somethig different and unique, that MTV interview sounded great as well.

I am not saying the scene is going to suck now or be better either way. I am saying Vaughn shouldn't use it as a crutch and say, yeah we would have have been just as ground breaking if not for... Someone beats you to the punch, move on... stop whining and making things public. From his, "I would have made X-3 so much better," to another pointless argument that puts a bigger target on your back, actions speak louder than words as we all know. Vaughn needs to step off his high horse and stop acting like he has accomplished or earned something more than he has.

I understand where you're coming from. You feel he needs to put his $$$ where is mouth is, and I agree with you. Time will tell the tale in about a year from now.

Well, I dunno..

Most people have considered Brett Ratner a hack for some time now while Vaughn has proven to be a very capable and consistent director..


So, whether he should have made such a comment is debatable, but personally I think Vaughn's opinions and feelings on X3 are more justified than not..

It looks like Vaughn's regular cinematographer Ben Davis is busy on another movie so Ben Seresin is the cinematographer if IMDB is to be believed.

Seresin worked on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Unstoppable which is out later this year.

Red Dragon is one of my favorite movies, and definitely my favorite of the Hannibal series. Not to mention the fact that Ratner directed the pilot episode of Prison Break, thus setting the tone for the show (or at least the first season), so I don't doubt his skills. I just doubt Ratner's skills when he had so many things stacked against him that really hinder his creativity. Hopefully the same obstacles will not be in Vaughn's way this time.

Well, even if ROTF was a bit of a mess film it has very nice lightning and shots, especially when they're at Egypt.

On Rotten Tomatoes his movies have been given ratings of 75% and above. As for IMDB Kick-Ass has 8.2.

I'm not sure where you are getting this 7/10 rating from, nor am I seeing how Vaughn is an 'arrogant prick'. If anyone is being arrogant it's you for thinking he has to get out of a metaphorical 'hole' you put him in and win you over.

If anyone gets a chance, check out Vaughn's latest lament in the L.A. Times "Hero Complex" section about how he is, personally, predicting the demise of the superhero genre. Quoting him, "It's been mined to death and in some cases the quality control is not what it's supposed to be. People are just going to get bored of it", unquote. Now, I dig Vaughn's directorial work. Layer Cake is a potential crime heist classic and Kick-Ass did exactly that when I watched it. Having said that, the man has lost his mind. Nothing suggests Vaughn wants to be Christopher Nolan. He even removed scenes from First Class because he didn't want people comparing his work to Nolan's. I know you've probably seen Inception many times but that doesn't mean you have to go planting thoughts into other people's minds. I'm sure Vaughn is happy being Vaughn.
