Based on what evidence?

I just don't believe that it was just a weather balloon, although I'm also not saying that it was actually a flying saucer that crashed Roswell in that incident.

I checked Google Earth..and Roswell, New Mexico is still real.

fake or not, its the best marketing for a lame state ever!!

I think there is a theory out there that "aliens" are actually time-travelers from the future. Guess that would explain why the flying saucer hasn't changed its basic design since the Egyptian time period.

Of course Roswell is real. What exactly crashed there is up to debate.

I dont believe in aliens, because I prefer to only BELIEVE things I can prove. They might be out there somewhere, but I'm not arguing that they are mutilating cattle...

However, I do take the eye witnesses on their word...that government officials ordered them to stay quiet.

That leaves with the thought that an experimental weapon crashed and the government didn't want the details getting out there. Pretty understandable really.

I was thinking along those lines myself. The desert is a great place to test experimental weapons and military aircraft, and I bet the Feds had a really bad day with some Top Secret military project. And that's what crashed. The government would want to keep both the project and the accident a secret because anything that the public knows would also be known by our "enemies," whoever our enemies were supposed to be at the time. So the weather balloon story is what got told to the press.

It might have been a bomb, a fighter jet, a spy plane the Feds were working on. But no, I don't think it was aliens that crashed in the desert. I don't see any solid reason to believe that it was.

:xmen:

I hope you don't mean in every case, because then you'd have to explain why you accept contradictory accounts.

It's widely known that eye-witnesses are hardly trustworthy sources of information. Someone's word is not truth by virtue of being spoken freely.

Scientists worry that real aliens might want to kill us

If you're thinking that any aliens we find out there will be more cuddly E.T. than devious V, maybe you should think again. At least if we're to believe Marek Kukula, public astronomer at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, as reported by The Telegraph.

"We might like to assume that if there is intelligent life out there it is wise and benevolent, but of course we have no evidence for this," said Kukula, who was attending "'The Detection of Extraterrestrial Life and the Consequences for Science and Society," a two-day conference held at the Royal Society in London. "Given the consequences of contact may not be what we initially hoped for, then we need governments and the U.N. to get involved in any discussions."
Considering how well governments have handled first contact with alien life in films and on TV so far—which often turns out to be an exercise in "dissect first, ask questions later"—we're not sure that's such a good idea. But what do you think?

I don't think we need to worry about it as the government has already made first contact.

No need to worry because apparently the world ends in 2012....:whatever:

Nah, we got Justin Chatwin, he can teach us how to run head first at an army of aliens and still hug Tom Cruise at the end of the day.

Totally focusing on the wrong things here. Zombie Apocalypse.....that's what we need to watch out for. It's just around the corner.

Just as long as those aliens don't try to TAKE OUR JOBS! :argh:

Considering how fast human stupidity is growing I honestly don't see how an advanced race ending ours would be a bad thing. It would be better than to have us go into space causing just as many wars that we have caused on earth. Plus it would also showup all the ignorant morons and put a stop to this whole arrogant idea that we are the only lifeforms in the universe.

Anyone see the movie Idiocracy? I feel as If "Ass, the movie" will be made soon....

Why would aliens want to kill us? I doubt they'd want to take over this over-polluted planet anyway.

Well if the aliens know half as much as I do about humanity I wouldn't hesitate to destroy us because we'll try to do the same to them.

Hey, Manifest destiny. What goes around comes around.

That's not what it means

Either way, manifest destiny is a complete crock and a poor excuse for forced imperialism.
