One conservative =/= all conservatives.
so the rest of the republicans lowered the deficits and cut spending?
just the one didn't? is that what you're saying?
One conservative =/= all conservatives.
When did the Democrats take over Congress? I don't remember the year?
2006
Yes, 2006 is when this country started having trouble. Everything was just dandy before that, It was a regular paradise before the Dems got in wasn't it?When things started to go downhill! Huzzah![]()
You hit the nail on the head with that one.She can't help it that reality has a left wing bias.![]()
You hit the nail on the head with that one.
What the Right calls "Skews Facts" from Maddow, The rest of the world calls reality.
Maddow is a Liberal, No doubt about that, She's never denied it, But that doesn't mean she lies about her reports. The same can't be said about anyone at Fox.
That's the difference between her and everyone at Fox. She doesn't have to lie to get her message out. The facts are enough.
Aside from the war which we will agree went on too long, what was so bad?
.
Maddow has lied on her television show before as well by deliberately cutting out parts of statements and videos from others to push her agenda.
That is certainly Bush and the Congressional Republicans' faultbudget deficit ballooning.
The job losses started in December of 2007 and got extreme in 2008. Before then, unemployment stuck around 5% for most of Bush's Presidency.jobs declining.
The result of Bill Clinton and the Congressional Republicans enacting legislation that deregulated necessary regulations on banks. And the Bush Administrations SEC that forgot how to do its job that allowed far too much speculation of Wall St.this little thing called a mortgage bubble with it's toxic assets and Wall st acting like a meth addict hitting the pipe knowing he has the US economy by the balls and the govt in his pocket.
Agreed.too much power/too few hands
There is plenty of blame to go around, Mr. Pinto says. In particular both parties got enamored with unrealistically and quickly growing the homeownership rate. However I would give (the bigger share of the blame) to the Democrats.
Mr. Lawler says: Both (parties) in my mind were fully and completely culpable. Both focused on programs to promote homeownership without much thought. One (the Democrats) focused too much on housing goals (for loans to lower-income people) and governments role, while the other (Republicans) focused on lax regulation, even of institutions where the government and taxpayers were at risk.
Didn't anyone see Jon Stewarts follow the money report last night? Apparently the super evil Arab funding the so called "terror mosque" in NY is the same guy that owns the second largest share of FOX news. I'm gonna do some digging to verify it, but if it turns out to be true then FOX news is a bigger bunch of creeps than I thought. They've been accusing one of their shareholders of terrorism. HAHA
As far as the housing fiasco....I blame Clinton before anyone else....YES, Greenspan and his decisions certainly fueled it...but as far as I'm concerned the main blame goes to the Taxpayer Relief Act which exempts married couples filing jointly from paying taxes on the profits earned by the sale of a residential home for up to $500,000. That key piece of legislature changed the incentive to buy and sell personal real estate indefinitely, pushing consumers toward riskier behavior.
So which party is to blame for the bubble?
Edward Pinto, a mortgage-industry consultant who was the chief credit officer at Fannie Mae in the late 1980s, argued in a WSJ op-ed essay that “most agree that the housing bubble started in 1997.”
Tom Lawler, an independent economist who worked at Fannie Mae from 1984 to 2006.

People didn't really go crazy until the banks were given the greenlight to lend to anyone and the govt allowed them to really overextend themselves plus the free money from the fed. Subprime mortgages and ARMs. There were a lot of contributing factors. It was basically a free for all and still is.
but the money is all gone.

There's a lot of contributing factors and we can point fingers till the world grows cold. The question is what do we do about it?
How do the people take it back?
How can we fix our corrupt govt.?
That is occurring right now at ten fold the rate it was but it is okay nowbudget deficit ballooning.
The highest it got under Bush was 6 in 2003 when the dotcom bubble bursted. It then went back down into the 4's until shocker...the end of 2006 when it started to increase again.jobs declining
You need to do some more research at who caused the mortgage bubble. A lot of Democrats still in power hand their hands in the pot and were part of the reason that caused the huge mess that led to a recession.this little thing called a mortgage bubble with it's toxic assets and Wall st acting like a meth addict hitting the pipe knowing he has the US economy by the cajones and the govt in his pocket.

That is occurring right now at ten fold the rate it was but it is okay nowBush increased the debt I think 5-6 trillion. After looking it up, he increased it right under 5 trillion. Over a trillion of that went to the war which I totally agree was pointless. So he increased it 5 trillion over 8 years. Obama has increased the debt half of that in 18 months. Talk about causing the budget deficit to balloon
That is 2.6-something trillion dollars in a year and a half.

Bush was the first president to leave office with a net loss of jobs. Those numbers? They changed they way they calculated those numbers. now those who have been out of work past their payments are considered employed. They still are btw. Obama hasn't changed that. The highest it got under Bush was 6 in 2003 when the dotcom bubble bursted. It then went back down into the 4's until shocker...the end of 2006 when it started to increase again.
I never said the Dems hands were clean. Both sides had stupid greedy legislation. You need to do some more research at who caused the mortgage bubble. A lot of Democrats still in power hand their hands in the pot and were part of the reason that caused the huge mess that led to a recession.
Who pushed banks to make risky loans to people that could not afford their house and surprise, not able to pay their mortgage? Who was right in the middle of Fannie and Freddie? Why did the recent Wallstreet reform bill that Obama and company just passed not include the cause of the recession? The Republicans who were part of it got voted out but for some reason the Democrats that were part of it are still in power.
