🇺🇸 Discussion: General Election 2024, 🥥 VS 🍊

US News
Considering how quickly Ds fell in line behind VP Kamala and how it’s excited apathetic Dems who were not thrilled about Biden but love her… and this excites younger voters too.

Not gonna lie it’s going to be a hard race. She potentially has the momentum to win a high turnout race. I hope and pray it’s not a redux of 2016, but 2008 would be nice.

Let's hope he didn't make it too late. If Harris doesn't win this, it is on Biden, his family, and inner circle for waiting far too long instead of being honest with themselves and the nation. If there had been a proper primary season, the Dems could have taken time to choose the best candidate instead of having to go with the VP as a default.

Hopefully, Harris can bring back those fearsome debate and speaking skills she had during the confirmation hearings for Trump's cabinet and judicial appointments.
I was trying to be nice, but you're 100% right.

It's almost like some people know what they're talking about...

Well, I just want to make sure, that if things go South in November, certain factions don't turn around and blame those who pushed for Biden to withdraw for the result yo try and claim Biden was the better candidate.

I think older whites would have turned against Biden sooner rather than later as well. For Boomers, he screams that parent they had to put in a nursing home for claiming the maid stole the cufflinks that he gifted to his grandson 15 years ago.

There is also a Fox News article (forgot where I saw it) - I posted it about a week ago that stated Trump and Republicans WANT the opponent to be Biden and were nervous that that might not be the case.

I was hoping for Biden to stay in the race because I genuinely felt his chances were being underestimated, thought he deserved the chance to run on a legit record of accomplishments, and was really concerned about potential chaos and further infighting-- but I'm feeling good about the momentum and energy of today and have no interest in looking backwards regardless of what happens. I was upset for a few minutes, but I quickly got over it when I saw the flood of support and endorsements for Harris rolling in. That was a big relief for me.

Being able to have disagreements in good faith and then move forward is what a functioning democracy should be all about.

I think some people might have feared that things would become chaotic like they were at the 1964 Democratic Convention, especially since that kept coming up among some circles as a possibility. Maybe I'm naive and have too much faith in people, but I never thought that level of in-fighting would happen again. With the stakes and what is on the line, plus the parties having fully become Union and Confederate rather than mixed, I had a really strong feeling that the left would continue to get along.

**** that piece of ****. Why on Earth would anyone in the Democratic Party support him after he spent 4 years as the worst thorn in the Party's side in passing its legislative agenda.
The racists of the Democratic party don't want a black woman as the nominee. So he's their guy.

"With Biden dropping out, they [Democrats] lose one more key: the incumbency key," Lichtman said. "But they can still preserve another key: the contest key if, finally, the Democrats get smart and unite behind Kamala Harris as the consensus nominee, they keep that key in line."

Lichtman says so far, it appears that's exactly what the Democratic Party is doing but there is still some speculation about whether all the party members are going to fall in line.
It won't take long to find out though. The real test of the party's unity will come at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago next month.

Litchman says when some of those questions are answered, he'll be able to make a final prediction.

"There are four shaky keys that I haven't decided and I haven't made a final prediction yet. They are third party, social unrest and foreign slash, military savior and success. Provided Harris becomes the consensus nominee, three of those four keys would have to fall to predict the Democrat's defeat," Lichtman said. "If she doesn't become the consensus nominee, only two would have to fall."

I gotta learn to stay off of X/Twitter discussing politics and just stick to this place.

My TL is full of either Trump ads or Black celebs telling me it's my job as a Black man to vote for Kamala Harris.
