US News
I highly doubt that was the reason Harris lost.
No but it didnt help.
The whole final stretch of the campaign was strange.
Boiling it down to "we are not trump" and then having liz cheney promote harris...was just very weird.

I keep ignoring Sanders by now because there is no way he will ever be president or so...but he never was wrong.
Such a shame, he could have really pushed America in a good direction if Democrats wouldnt have done everything they could to undermine him.
But its too late now, he is too old etc.

Agreed. In a perfect world, Bernie Sanders would have been President for the past 8 years and Trump would have been relegated to appearing on Fox News after NBC canceled The Apprentice at some point. :(

I don't think voters understand how much Republicans, Sinema and Manchin screwed them over by blocking a living wage, by blocking a 300 dollar monthly child tax credit, by blocking price gouging investigations.

Each of these deserved a press conference because none of them made the news cycle.

People are saying Democrats should embrace Bernie style populism. They tried but where stymied by Manchin and Sinema.

Can you imagine how different the election would be if families were getting 6,000 dollar tax credits, living wages, and there were public price gouging investigations?

How can we say Democrats ignore the needs of the rust belt and middle America when they literally were blocked on most attempts to bail out the working class. They tried.

The voters also don't understand inflation was global and not limited to Biden, the inflation was caused by supply chain problems due to covid and price gouging, and that America had among the best recovery in the developed world.

The issue is many people don't really know (or care) that Democrats were blocked to offer good policies. They care about the results, Democrats were the head of the country but they failed to improve the conditions for many citizens.

Honestly, even if Democrats blame the Republican senators, people will doubt these Democrats are sincere. I mean, if someone blame their political opponent for everything bad, many people will hardly believe that.

Trump/Republicans attacks on Democrats are more "indirect". Trump's campaign focuses on villainizing and attacking minorities, while it also villanizes Democrats stance of inclusion.

That's the funny part. Biden did improve the economy but it's hard to notice when there's price gouging.

What was Biden supposed to do in that situation?

Muslims helped elect Bibi’s best bud, white women voted against their own body autonomy, those struggling through inflation voted for high tariffs, immigrants voted for mass deportation and veterans voted for a candidate who has been trying to destroy our democracy for the past decade. The idea that the US electorate is comprised of rational actors who will vote for a Bernie 2.0 that promises a slate of progressive economic initiatives is laughable.

I’m from deep blue Massachusetts where Congressman Seth Moulton was recently excoriated for taking a moderate position on transexual participation in girls athletics. The same thing happened on these boards with long time posters perma banned for taking a similar stance (I was informed by management that that was not the only reason for banishment, but the posters in question are obviously unable to say if this is accurate.) That shouldn’t be a hill to die on, but some post mortems suggest this minor issue had an outsized impact on the election. A feeling of moral superiority isn’t worth election losses.

I don’t know where the Dems go from here. If the far right stays in solidarity and the lefties continue to earn the snow flake designation by staying home or submitting protest votes, we are effed. The long term solution is providing successful liberal alternatives to the dominant far right propagandists. The short term solution is finding an extremely charismatic presidential candidate who can successfully spin a BS fairy tale over the course of a campaign that the brain dead American electorate will lap up. Alas, I dont like their chances.

Trump will deport Native Americans as illegal immigrants if he gets the chance.

Or he'd do something like what was done to the indigenous inhabitants of the Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands during WWII with everyone being moved off it (supposedly temporarily) so that the US Government could test nuclear bombs on that island and then make it radioactive for decades to come so that they could never live there again.

If the lefties put Trump in office because they were mad at Dick’s daughter, then those snowflakes earned whatever bad things are coming their way. I loathe the modern day MAGA GOP, but I have to give them credit for keeping their coalition of corporate exploiters, Christian identifying evangelicals and cousin humping rural white trash united for the cause of making ‘Merica more like Alabamy.
