🇺🇸 Discussion: Guns, The Second Amendment, NRA - Part II

US News
All it will take is a large number of black men to openly carry handguns for defense and they will start reconsidering it. California used to be that way until the Black Panthers started openly carrying and suddenly it was a bad idea to Reagan when he was governor of the state.

Another mass shooting in San Jose. :csad:

People keep saying that but I doubt it. Racists these days are looking for any excuse to justify shooting black people.

The difference is black people will be able to defend themselves against them legally with a gun. It isn't like the 1950's and before where racists could just get away with it.

I keep hearing that domestic violence is a significant red flag. And apparently there are already laws restricting access to guns for people with convictions for it. But the problem is that you can plea down to a lesser charge and those laws don't necessarily apply if you do. That loophole needs to be fixed. But unfortunately that might require addressing the fact that domestic violence charges are sadly fairly common amongst people working in the law enforcement.

Handmaid's Tale is a little further South than expected.

So the NRA has gone the Scientology route.

Aaaaand Republicans will shrug their shoulders, say now is not the time for reform and that they will pray while they do absolutely nothing to prevent another mass murder.

Matt Gaetz needs to brush up on his understanding of the 2nd amendment before he opens his mouth and exposes the short circuit between it and his, alleged, brain.

Why is her instinct to shoot the puppy?

It's Texas, isn't the first instinct to shoot anything that moves in your yard? While I am glad she did not hit the dog (well, she did graze it slightly) and I hope the kid is okay, this is exactly the kind of thing Republicans are encouraging and it is only going to get worse.

Awful ****ing human being that woman is.

The next bullet might be fatal to another innocent child.

I'm pro 2nd amendment. Responsibly own several different types of firearms for hunting, sport/hobby as well as competition and self defense.

Even I as a pro 2nd amendment individual raise an eyebrow to the open or even conceal carry of a firearm for untrained individuals. I mean that may seem silly since I'm pro 2nd amendment right....? but its true.

I feel it is everyone's right to own a firearm or firearms (yes singular or plural). But feel when you are looking to carry one in public it should come with a more specific set of rules.

Again, even though I'm licensed to carry, and own firearms and pro 2nd amendment I cannot tell you how many people I have seen at ranges or even carrying a firearm and think to myself wow they are being unsafe or wow they probably shouldn't be doing that.

At least if you go for CWP training and testing you are subjected to safety training, handling and cannot pass it without a shooting test which will prove capable and safe handling.

My state just recently passed an open carry option for people that have already obtained their Concealed carry permit or for those that plan to get their permit. That is the only way you can open carry here unless you are hunting or fishing. For me personally, I see very little and few instances where I would ever actually open carry. I'll stay concealed for likely 99% of the time. That way I don't draw any unnecessary attention to myself. But there are also some areas that I if I found myself in, open carry may be a more viable option, but again extremely rare instances.
