In a perfect world, guns would just be eliminated entirely, but I think that, unfortunately, trying to remove guns would be like trying to remove liquor during the prohibition era, people will just find other ways to get them. The black market will explode.

Now, let me be absolutely clear though, taking action is better than doing nothing at all and i believe it would absolutely reduce the amount of horrible instances like this from happening but guns overall are too embedded into our society and economy and the Right would never allow it. But it is kind of insane how easily accessible these things are.

Having listened to Abbott's speech about the shooting, you can tell how heartbroken he is. I'm sure the parents, surviving students, etc. are absolutely ECSTATIC that there are mental health resources available to them.

Yeah. And, the bar should be pretty high. There should be a comprehensive check BEFORE people can purchase a gun and there is NO reason civilians need an assault rifle or body armor. People aren't allowed to drive cars without testing and licensing, but an 18 year old can walk into a store and walk out with assault rifles and ammo.
