Discussion: Racism - Part 1

That's NY! Is this a party platform though? This law would be blatantly unconstitutional. It won't get support in SCOTUS.
So what other "groups" are you referring to and what is it you are dying to call or say about them that you feel you can't?

Its constitutionality is irrelevant. What is relevant is that it is an example of the left wing trying to police speech. That's what you asked for. That's what I gave you.

And, now you just dismiss it based on constitutional reasons and ask for more examples. If I provide those, you'll probably dismiss them as well (like you didn't even mention the Missouri example I listed) and ask for more examples. Ain't nobody got time for that. :o

Asking ignorant people to maybe educate themselves on trans issues and actually calling trans people by the accepted pronouns is now policing speech?! Mmmk.

Subjecting people to monetary penalties or disciplinary action isn't "asking," no matter how innocuous you may try to make it be.

Your own ignorance is showing. Educate yourself. :o

I think "creepy" is the word you're looking for. I never heard of such a thing. That is frelling bizarre.

It seems to be a surprisingly common thing. I know plenty of black people who have had the same thing happen. A number of white people seem to be really intrigued by black hair and want to know what it felt like.

I've had different groups of white people asking if they can feel my hair on multiple occasions throughout my life.

I always get asked about my hair, it's annoying at times but whatever. Now asking to touch it? Hell no, you will get shut down with the quickness. The funniest thing is when the other black girl in my office will have short hair one day then come in the next with a long weave or sew-in. The people's faces in the office - priceless, we laugh every time.

I'll never forget when I started my current job at the firm here in the city 11 years ago and I was given a lesson in weaves from the African American women in the department. Fascinating stuff. I had NO IDEA.

Really, really weird if you ask me. I mean who would walk up to someone and say "Can I touch your hair?" Bizarre. I once had a woman who had breast implants ask me to touch them because she wanted me to know they felt real. That was kind of weird too, but I was genuinely curious about that after she brought it up.

OK. Im done with this. There are some really strange people out there.

Seems like a good opportunity to ask to feel her implants. :ninja:

A lot of liberals believe that stuff about Hilary too though. It doesn't seem to be something exclusive to only the far right.
No the vast majority of liberals blame Hillary for stuff she has actually done or can at least be associated with. Some have been extreme on the email thing, but the rest, pinning murder and other such stuff on here? That is a Conservative specialty.

Here's one:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...y-demand-that-you-use/?utm_term=.00eff81f01f1

You can be fined for not referring to someone by their preferred pronoun. And this is left-wing de Blasio's office.

Here's another:

http://www.wsj.com/articles/literal-speech-police-1447180770

The school can take disciplinary action, because "While cases of hateful and hurtful speech are not crimes, if the individual(s) identified are students, MU’s Office of Student Conduct can take disciplinary action."

Who wants to take a bet that "hateful" and "hurtful" speech will be defined according to left-wing principles?

The standard defense from the totalitarian left to both of these examples will be, "But this is hate speech, and you don't have a right to hate speech." Hate speech, of course, will be defined by totalitarian left as speech that goes against what they believe, rendering the concept of free speech moot. After all, is there really free speech when the definition is "You are free to say whatever you like as long as it conforms to our standards?"

These are worthy of dismissal. One is an internal office thing the other is a school. This hardly is an example od fascism in any reasonable sense. And I am one that can feel there is extremity on the left... But this is seeming like another case of someone crying "totalitarianism" and just looking silly about it all in my eyes.

In the United States, that sounds like a martyr complex.

Society today is filled with a lot of "martyrs". I watched a video last night of an Uber or Lyft driver taping his female passenger berating him over a hula bobble toy on his dash because it offended her. The world is full of victims because it furthers their narrow, selfish cause.

Also, ctrl-left. It's catching on.

Way to bring abortion, the "left", and your lame term into a discussion about racism.

Speaking of racism and abortion, the left are really good at aborting black babies at a higher proportional rate than any other race. In NYC, more black babies were aborted than born:

http://www.politifact.com/texas/sta...a-meyer-says-more-black-babies-are-aborted-n/

Black Lives Matter!?
What does abortion have to do with anything exactly? Well other then the right wanting to tell women what they can do with their bodies, and trying to keep the situation where minority families have large amount of kids but no jobs to take care of them?

Forget it, Jake. It's chaseter.

Please enlighten us with what the left is supposedly policing you or keeping you from saying about or calling "specific interest groups"?
What "groups" and what is it you are so dying to call or say about them that you feel you can't?

:funny: Please enlighten me as to why you seem so tetchy about my assertion?

I'm not American, I'm not talking about myself, but you can use the shouting down, intimidation and occasional assault of those trying to offer differing opinions on college campuses as an example.

This board is a perfectly good example, it's infested with so called liberals who put no critical thought into that term or why they'll defend to the hilt half the things they say, they just immediately and enthusiastically attack anything that criticizes the left or any liberal hot topic.

Edit: By the by, it's cute how you try and word it to make it seem like I want to say things about people when I'm explicitly making it about views they hold. This isn't about individuals as much as its about hive mind supposed common knowledge they seem to share.

Tell me why black babies are aborted at a rate 3x their proportional population. How do you end minority oppression by aborting their future generations, thus keeping them a minority? Wouldn't you want to foster growth for an oppressed minority?

Answer any of those. Blacks confronted by cops more often than whites...liberals yell racism. Clinics abort black babies at a higher rate than whites...liberals support it.

Getting an abortion is a choice. Getting racially profiled by police isn't. I really fail to see why you're even trying to make a comparison between the two.

Chaseter hates abortion and wants to constantly remind us of that.

I hate to invoke sarcasm, but clinics don't perform involuntary abortions.

Are you suggesting these abortions are happening against the women's consent? That it isn't a choice made by the individual getting the abortion? That black people ask to be pulled over by the cops for driving while black? Or are you simply conflating two clearly unrelated subjects in the most bizarre attempt at turning this around on the left?

By the way, don't worry. White people will no longer be the majority quite soon in the US.

Here is the problem I have with this logic a lot of the time. Are some people insanely over the top SJW? Yeah. But the idea that there are "different view points" on such things as race, sex or sexual preference is a BS non-starter imo. And this is exactly how a lot of the right runs with any discussion on such things. There is a "right way" to look at things like race, sex, sexual preference. Racism is bad. Inequality between men and women is bad. Judging a person on who they love or how they see themselves in the world is bad. There is no "other side" to that argument that is legitimate imo.

Nobody is saying you can't choose to do whatever outside of the workplace. You can't be saying racially insensitive stuff at work either or HR will be on you and you might lose your job. It's asking for the same rules to apply especially when it comes to hiring. I mean really, trans people are highly discriminated against in the workplace especially trans women.
