They can't handle it.

Glad to hear Gingrich finally caught up to February 2012. He's gonna' be surprised to hear about car elevators and dog meat in a few months.

The GOP desperately needs to save itself from the "Christians" and "Republicans" who have taken over its leadership who follow perverted interpretations of both and are actually diametrically opposed to either of their original meanings.

I imagine will be hearing from Ron Paul shortly about the same thing. Hopefully he will run as a third party candidate again and not give up despite this loss of the nomination.

Paul can't run third party. Sore loser status would be evoke. He could endorse Gary Johnson.

However, it is now Romney vs Paul. Paul has a delegate plan. He has money.

both what?

Christianity and being a Republican.

The GOP has been hijacked by people who act like they own the copyright to the words "Christian" and "Republican" and frankly don't know what either means, because they don't follow it.

I'd add that the Republicans need to stop riding "beat Obama." Yes, that's their goal, but I think it'd make more sense to communicate that by putting forth their own policies that trump his policies.

^ That's the biggest problem with political campaigns in general. They spend the entire time talking about how much the other guy/party sucks, not why they're better or what they would do to improve anything.

For argument sake I believe the bible is so all over the place that nobody can 100% follow it else you will contradict yourself.

In general a big problem is the media not going after the candidates to get better answers. People in the media rather get the "big interview" throwing them softball questions, then no interview at all.

Again, I agree.

Still if you are going to make "we want big government out of our business" your moniker, you should at least understand what that exactly means. If you want Big Government for this issue and that issue but not these issues, state it that way, don't act like you're some high moral majority and your values somehow define what is and isn't Big Government.

But it's not about Big Government. The GOP will talk about the evils Big Government because they have adopted some libertarian principles, but conservatism is all about preserving the core of the status quo.

Ron Paul isn't going to drop out. He didn't drop out in 2008, he isn't going to do it in 2012.

Yep. Paul will fight to the bitter end. At any rate, Romney is the nominee.

I know I've said it a hundred times....but Romney needs Ridge. He doesn't need a running mate who reinvents the wheel. He doesn't need a Palin 2.0. Bringing in a female running mate will not win him the female vote. Bringing in a Latino running mate won't win him the Latino vote. His running mate cannot be focused on such a broad demographic. Instead he needs someone who can deliver one key state. He needs Tom Ridge.

Romney is going to take Virginia and probably North Carolina. He doesn't need McDonnell to deliver Virginia. Frankly I'm not convinced that Portman will give Romney Ohio. Ridge WILL deliver PA, however. I am very confident of that. That is why Romney ought to select him.

If Romney takes Virginia, he's going to take North Carolina. As a matter in fact, he's more likely to take North Carolina. Even the Obama campaign is starting to admit that Romney is the favorite in North Carolina.

Except the GOP seems to talking a lot about how bad the status quo is nowadays. It seems like the GOP is not well defined nowadays. Libertarians have a better ethos then the GOP, I can see the Libertarian message seems like it has better resonance then the GOP's rather confused message.

That's because in their eyes what Barack Obama does goes against the status quo of the United States. He goes against liberal laiszze-faire free market capitalism and he takes a **** on socially conservative moral values.

So what status quo are the GOP trying to defend, the one from the second Bush administration?

Yeah, I would kinda go with the 1950's in regards to moral values.

The good old wholesome '50s, where everyone was prosperous and happy....except for people who weren't rich white Anglo-Saxon Protestant men.

Those pesky blacks, women, gays, and non-Christians getting human rights screwed everything up.

I'd have to say the fifties is probably the most mischaracterized decade in recent history. Far from quaint. Rock and roll, and the rise of teen culture. Not to mention the beginning of the civil rights era.

The so-called 50's people want to go back to never existed. Ask the people who actually lived through them as adults (while you still can).
