Animation Disney's Encanto

I started typing it and then I backed out because I thought it'd be too *****y. :o

I wasn't a fan. Wasn't feeling it.
Don't worry, you can be mean to me, and point out that Jennifer Lee has actually been running Disney Animation since 2018. :p

Are we saying Jennifer Lee isn't doing as good as a job as Pete?

Frozen will be thought of for that generation what Beauty and the Beast and Lion King was for ours. Wait till the nostalgia hits for that in 10 more years (and the live-action remake of course).
Oh, absolutely. It's just hard to imagine nostalgia for Frozen right now since it's an entity that hasn't gone away for nearly 8 years. Elsa, Anna and Olaf found their way onto toy shelves in 2013 and they've just stayed there, and with good reason too considering both of those movies grossed over $1 billion. Although I was between the ages of 3 and 6 when Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King came out, I remember there being plenty of merchandise for each of those films, especially Lion King since I was most aware of it as a 6 year old. I played the cassette tape soundtracks for those ad nauseam until the VHS releases and played those over and over again too. But with those, for the most part, the merchandise only stayed on shelves for about a year or so before they were cleared out to make room for the next Disney movie's toys, dolls, and plushes. Compare that to now when I walked into Target the other week looking for a gift for my goddaughter and there was still almost a whole aisle in the toy section dedicated to Frozen II almost two years after it came out.

But Musker and Clements have been so consistant since The Great Mouse Detective. I mean, in relation to animation directors, who has this many - if not all classics, well regarded films; The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, Treasure Planet, Princess and the Frog and Moana.

Maybe only Brad Bird and Pete Docter?
I'd also add Lee Unkrich to that list but with an asterisk since his resume isn't that large. But he co-directed Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc. and Finding Nemo as well as directing Toy Story 3 and Coco, two of Pixar's absolute best.
That's disheartening to hear. Is there a supercatchy I Want song?
Raya wasn't a musical. Not that it's a bad thing, but those usually fall on the "less popular" side on the Disney Animated Films spectrum.

I like South American culture abnd the music will be great…but that teaser gave me nothing. I don‘t see the emotional epic story, that Disney Animation movies have

One thing you have to remember about these Disney animation teasers is that they're very barebones. For example, the teaser for Frozen is pretty unimpressive compared to the final product.

That Frozen teaser is horrible. What were they thinking?

It'd be like a Beauty and the Beast teaser simply with Lumiere and Cogsworth arguing.

It looks cute. Didn’t know LMM was involved but I think the song sounds nice too.

This looks like a lot of fun. And, of course, gorgeous. I don't mind that it doesn't really touch on the actual storyline. It's just a teaser. It established the world of the movie and makes people curious as to what will happen, and that's really all it needs to do, IMO.

I am concerned by the lack of capybara, though. That tapir almost made up for it.

There was a capybara in the teaser - also on the poster

The main girl didn't grab me, but I'm interested.

I can tell you right now, that donkey ain't gonna be as charming as this guy:

Looks really fun! I love the strong lady

That first teaser trailer already looks incredible beautiful visual and the characters already interest me.
Looking forward to this.

It doesn't look interesting to me.

Also the way the characters are drawn/designed, it looks very PiXar-ish or most animated films out there. If I didn't know which studio was behind this, I would have guessed its from PiXar.

That is pretty much the house style they have adopted ever since Disney Animation went full CGI.

Frozen 2, Zootopia, Big Hero SiX and both Wreck It Ralph movies didn't look like PiXar movies to me. Raya and the Last Dragon (eXcluding how the characters were designed) looked kinda photo realistic in a lot of shots.
