Now that Hayao Miyazaki's film The Wind Rises has been nominated in the best animation category I bet it will win! The academy loves him and his film took a lot of political criticism in Japan, the academy loves to award films that do that too.

He already won for Spirited Away back in 2002, a much better film IMO. If SA had been nominated, but didn't win, then I would give 50/50 for the vote going to The Wind Rises.

I'm just preparing myself for the worst. Hayao Miyazaki said this is his last film and the Academy might give him the award just for that.

and that would further feed into the perception that the Academy is "out of touch" with the mainstream audience.

The Oscars are all about politics and bribes! If you don't promote your film for nomination you don't get nominated. Or you get nominated because you are so low on the totem pole you don't threaten anyone, or you are the pitty vote or are voted for a specific demographic!

.............:csad:

well, Frozen's the only film nominated this year that I even care about.

So, I'm holding out hope it will win.

meanwhile.......as of Wed., Frozen's total domestic BO is $319,808,258.

so, after today, it should easily make it to $320m.

and, if it can do at least another $10m this weekend, it could even hit the $330m mark!!

Saw Frozen again, in 3D this time, today. So it may actually be my favorite movie of last year.

soooo.......if Rapunzel and Flynn attended Elsa's coronation ceremony..........

does that mean they were stuck in Arendelle during the storm??!!

I wonder if Rapunzel's parents freaked out again........lol

"OMG!! Our daughter's been kidnapped again!! I knew we shouldn't have trusted that.....Eugene..........."

I thought they were telekinetic? :P

Bust seriously, didn't the events of the movie last about two or three days? I doubt they would worry too much. Or, at least not much more than they possibly already do.

lol.....true.

Came back from seeing it a second time, still love it. Really cool to pick out the little details that I heard about after the first showing.

"Let It Go" wins the Critics Choice Award for Best Song.

We're boned. :(

:( Hayao Miyazaki is a massive inspiration of mine and I really wanna see his final film. Conflict.....so lame.....

Really no brainer... not much animated movies in 2013 was as good as Frozen, maybe except Monsters University but that's mostly silliness and not enough wisdom as Frozen.

and Monster U wasn't even nominated.

Frozen better win. it must!! it has too!!

I haven't seen Miyazaki's newest film, so I really can't comment on which is better. Personally, I think that his best film was Princess Mononoke.

That is an absolutely incredible animated film. I would take that film over a lot of today's animated films.

Princess Mononoke was an incredible animated film, but emotionally I didn't like it very much. I like Spirited Away and even My Friend Totori better than Princess Mononoke.

Btw, with two awards now under its belt, I think it's safe to say that Frozen has a very strong momentum as it heads toward the Academy Awards.
