This isn't exactly shaping up as a "live-action" version of the cartoon, it appears to be a straight retelling of the same story with little to no relation to the animated version other than sharing the same source material.
Maybe this might be his first step towards eventually landing the role of Shang chi?
I'm holding out hope they will cast Billy Magnussen or Jim Sturgess.![]()

Rosalind Chao (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Cheng Pei-Pei (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and Nelson Lee have joined the cast of Disneys Mulan, the latest live-action remake of the studios animated classics. Production is now underway on the Niki Caro-directed pic with locations in New Zealand and China.
Maybe we'll see him on her clothing like how they're doing in Wreck It Ralph 2 (that we've seen so far).So basically Mushu is out or if he does exist he's a non talking animal.
Nice to see Rosalind Chao joining the cast. I always thought she was under utilized ever since TNG though she was more prominent in DS9 and she's clearly been working in shows all this time.
