I smell more of a possible co op then what you want out of this.
here's a video of what he looks and sounds like.

In DmC Devil May Cry, Vergil Is A Gifted Multi-Millionaire That Hates Demons

August 14, 2012 . 3:38amHe’s also the head of The Order, which recruits Dante to their cause in order to combat demons better.

Awesome. It already shows that they'll have different ways of taking on a situation, with Dante valuing the girl's life, but not Vergil.

I think they'll part ways by the end of the game. Hopefully, so we can fight Vergil in a sequel. I didn't really like his voice, though. Too soft.

It is like they want anyone who liked the original games and cared one iota about the characters to dislike this one.
more like they are trying to re-invision this with a new take based on an old concept. They are trying to draw in new gamers who didnt necesarily cared for the old series by offering something different

I liked. Also really satisfied with the level design.
I've seen a lot of variety so far.

This reboot seems weird....but maybe this series could use a little weird right now.

Level design and the changing environments is about the only thing Ive been impressed with so far. They do look pretty cool. Not too big on the whole News channel level though. The intro to that clip when he was walking upside down looked awesome.

Which is fine, but they seem to pay no mind to alienating those that have actually cared about the series up until now. They could play this whole thing differently, with the same characters. Instead it feels like they changed the characters more then anything.

Which then begs the question, why even make it a DMC game, other then because the franchise has a fanbase? The game looks fun, but it really doesn't look or feel like a DMC game imo.

Story wise it seems completely new. But from what I've seen of the gameplay and from what I've heard of the soundtrack it has the Devil May Cry feel.

Yeah, claiming this doesn't look or feel like a DMC game is just flatout insane. Whats wrong with taking new takes on characters? Why should Vergil always be a villain? Why can't he be a hero? What happens if he actually is a villain? Will you then complain how it's recycling plots?

Bingo! If not for that than every reboot would get a new title not related to the original. If I was just seeing this game for the first time not knowing anything about it, I would think wow that looks like Devil May Cry and I think the vast majority of people would say the same thing

The amount of "this is a rip-off" commentaries would be absurd.
There are too many things in common to name it differently.

I think the issue here is that was kinda what was hinted in the other series with the anime series (which was serious) added to it and from what i understood most fans wanted Vergil's redemtion in the original series to happen and wanted to know what he was up to in the demon world. this I think could have went with what people are expecting in the final installments of darksiders series. The most bad ass co-op ever as the end result of the story.

From what was pushed of the original series Virgil's really just messed up from not being able to protect his mother from demons and thinks that having the power of demons is a way to get revenge on them and ruling them he can deal out his punishment. All while dante and nero were on earth realm . He's just simply misguided from dante POV and want to set him strate. Alot could have still been done story wise and alot of people including my self were ok with the original series.

The only real bad one was devil may cry 2 story wise. Now I don't mind this one as much . But i also understand why other fans of the original series feel cheated. Capcom jumped ship a bit early for them. I'd say the best way to fix this is to do what the makers of Xcom are doing with their franchise. Do both series/genre's and you'll expand your fan base , But some how I think i'd be met with resistance. But it'd be a smart idea. Well if Capcom can afford that i mean.

Look, I would've preferred if they continued the original series as well, but I'm no longer skeptical of this game, I don't see how anyone can look at the gameplay and think "this isn't DMc"

Just remember I didn't say "I can't see it isn't." even though. It's most likely due to the fact that most people(not me) are still harping on the fact that the head of the studio on this game hair and some of his feathers on still on this version dante and part of that is most likely what bugging others.and the fact their not really keeping track of every thing. it's kinda like how people reacted to the arkham prequel news. people wanted to move forward with the sequel to arkham AA & city , It's how others feel with the original series Of DMC. they want that one done first then their move on and won't care what capcom does after ward cause they have been satisfied and have moved on from the series.

so is the Raptor News Network ( and that boss guy ) supposed to be a parody/attack on a specific, real life news network?

If they are I have no Idea who their spoofing. lol And it's not there hasn't been a story of evil news personality's in other mediums before.

Im willing to bet that Vergil will back stab Dante towards the end.

Im a huge fan of Ninja theory, Loved Heavenly Sword and Enslaved. Those guys know how to make an entertaining story.

I hope their going for a different portrail here as dr z said thing is I've had my fill of fighting with him it's it's under the control of another character/ villain fine. But I think this version of vergil doesn't care to fallow the way of demons and just wants humanity to survive and actually wants to make his bro happy.

I'm thinking this Vergil will be a good guy for now, and potential villain for the sequel.

Looking at the gameplay, it looks to slow for a DMC game. It isn't about how fast his sword moves. It is about how fast you need to thing you change your strategy and I really don't see that here. Perhaps it is because of the difficulty they are demoing it at, but the game doesn't look overwhelming.

I don't necessarily care about their allegiances, though it seem they are painting Vergil as the "darker" brother again.

What I care about is the characters. You ask why not change them? The same reason you don't change Snake, Kratos, Mario, Master Chief and so many others. There characters are what make up a large portion of what the franchise is.

The overabundance of cursing and dirty looking Dante do not reflect the series for me. For me it would be like rebooting Halo and having the Master Chief a beer belled buffoon, who can't stop cursing, and treats Cortana like she means nothing to him.

Kratos, Snake and Master Chief havent been placed in a reboot of their respective franchises. If they had then those developers should be free to go in a different direction than what came before. But agian this is NOT the same Dante. Its not a prequel to the original's tale or part of his saga. This is a brand new character. They arent changing "Dante" up bc this isnt the old character you played with before
