DmC: Devil May Cry

They did save Devil May Cry. This series desperately needed a face lift. Its received just that in DmC. In the first hour and a half of gameplay, i havent heard any more cussing than any other M rated game. I have a feeling thats a non issue that the old fanboys are just picking at just for sake of whining now that their old Devil May Cry games are history.

Wait... Didn't you hate the idea if this game? Either way I'm not gonna buy it. Too many other games coming out... And I like my DMC how I remember it.

Bravo to what was said there. Unfortunately, there are people over are too who behave like that.
I loved the previous games as much as the next fan. I hope I love this one too and I most likely will.

some one asked why Ninja theory couldn't do their magic on the original universe ? unfortunately It's cause capcom told them they wanted to start over, According to Alex Jones the producer of capcom that's on this title. Mostly cause of the mess the second installment left. He said 4 was actually decent though.

Yea, i initially was completely against this Dante. I just didnt like his "look". After seeing a few videos my opinion started to change and now after playing it, i feel he's surpassed his old image by a country mile.

Anyway, I'm two missions in and I'm loving the game so far. The hair gag was annoying, but if he goes permawhite at the end of the game like I suspect, I'll let it slide.

That's funny since checked yesterday and just before put that one from EPD.TV/ROTR's up to make sure since I wanted them back to back. So their score is a 9'0. thanks for putting it up though.

I did kinda warn about him not digging the original hair / look thing.

Without spoiling too much, did anyone get to the pregnancy scene yet? And what did you think? You'll know it when you see it. I think it's completely messed up.

You know, I don't think the original fans should have too much beef with this game. I feel like this take on Dante and the series isn't actually THAT radically different.

To be, it's like the Nolan take on Batman. It might seem barebones and the approach might look like it excludes a lot but you gradually realise that they GET the character and that comes across in the portrayal.

I also feel like, as well as being a reboot, this is very much an origin story. I feel like the more adult Dante we got used to by the end of the DMC series is very much who this Dante is going to grow into. At the moment he's younger, more full of spunk and energy and he comes across as a punk. But as he gets older, I can see his character become more cynical and a bit more like the jaded, older Dante we know. A bit wiser, a bit seen it all.

I sincerely hope this game performs well because regardless, it's a well designed action game with brilliant visuals and I feel like Ninja Theory deserve a big hit after the underated Enslaved, which was a flawed game but with some brilliant ideas in it. I'd love to see this new DMC series develop further

Oh my, this game reminds me of a few of the Nostalgia Critic videos
I like this guy's voice as Dante, his voice and delivery is superior to the two guys who came before Reuben Langdon, and I agree with Pat about the nod to the hair being funny

He said that he liked the gameplay, but not the direction they took Dante. He attributes that because he literally was Dante. He did the voice work for both 3 and 4, and the stunts for DMC 3 as well. He was also the voice of Dante in the DMC anime.

If we are strictly talking gameplay, I think the only ones missing out are the ones who haven't played DMC3&4 before. And direction wise, it still tries too hard to be crass and vulgar.

Played it through on Nephilim and its pretty damn good. I think all the critic 8.5-9 scores are just about right. Combat is almost perfect but the game would have benefited if it had a lock. Theres quite a few instances later in the game where the auto target would grab the wrong enemy. It works well for the most part, but I dont really see the any advantages in having 2 evades and no lock on. I seriously have no idea why it wasnt put it the game. Otherwise its friggen awesome. They give you more then enough weapons to give you options on moves and combos. The fights can be a bit redundant in using enemis that force you to use certain weapons or hurt them, which limits your battles sometimes, but that comes with the territory. Very lil to complain about.

The level design does out do the original games. Its real cool what they did there. NT did such a creative job here that it really made me think about why they didnt do a lil bit better on updating some of the character designs and some of the cut scenes. The previous DMCs always had crazy intense choreography that doesnt really exist here. Was disappointed to see that go.

Story and characters wise without spoilers, I really dug it for the most part. Wasnt blown away or anything but its well done. New Dante isnt anywhere near as bad as Id thought so I def retract alot of comments Ive said. The scenes between him and Kat were the stongest in the game along with Dante discovering his past imo. The take on Vergil was kind of weak though and Mundus was the one I thought had the worst writing attached. Didnt like that character at all from the first moment he showed up.

Other thing I didnt like was...

The ending with Vergil and Dante fighting felt really rushed, and after the fight tha game pretty much just ends. Felt forced and not really done to well compared to the rest of the game. Thought it was a pretty sucky ending. I have no doubt they could have gave us a better conclusion, like Dante maybe setting up DMC shop or something since demons are running aorund in the real world.

Also, Boss Mundus looked way too much like Megatron.

Excellent game overall. I think most DMC fnas will dig for sure. Def won me over.

I would think so, odd thing to leave out really. It would make the combat literally perfect! Really liked it though, great game.
