New trailer from TGS:

I'm glad he's less emo. He looks more healthy this way. And it looks better and better by each released video. Boss battles are looking awesome.

:wow:

I agree, this game does look better and better with each new video.

when is it supposed to come out again??

I don't think there is one yet. Maybe they didn't set one in stone so they have plenty of time to work on this game without being annoyed by anyone. What we know is that it is coming in 2012.

ah....thanks.

yeah.....I'd rather them not rush it......lol.

besides....there's plenty of great games coming out in the near future.....

btw....we were discussing Vergil in the MvC3 thread.

do you think Vergil will show up in this DMC reboot??

It's really hard to say, because we don't know for sure if it's a complete reboot of the franchise or if it'll take place before DMC3, which was the first chronologically.

If it is part of the same universe, then I hope we get to see Vergil at the end of this one, serving as a cliffhanger or maybe a after credit scene. Vergil was great in DMC3. I'd like to see him again.

Also, we really could get a story trailer now, so we can know what the hell is going on.

I've disliked everything about this game and nothing has really changed my mind on it. Ninja Theory is a great studio with some great games but this one just unfortunately looks like total schlock.

Definitely getting the DMC 1-4 HD Collection thought I'm sure that'll be great.

...Ok, it's obvious that the Original (and real) Dante will be involved with this somehow. They wouldn't show him in quick clips if they were going to completely ignore him. It would also probably explain why they had "no intention of changing this Dante's looks back.."

Because I don't think he's going to be Dante... at least not THE Dante... and I have a feeling we'll find that out through the game..

Or.. this Dante could just be "Earth 2 Dante.."

For its Devil May Cry game, Ninja Theory somewhat boldly reimagined the revered protagonist, Dante, changing his appearance and his backstory. And now, to assuage the surprisingly irritated Devil May Cry fanbase, Ninja Theory assured Dengeki PlayStation that this version of Dante is from a parallel continuity separate from that of the white-haired Dante-Prime.

That means that the Dante you know and love can continue in his own universe, and potentially in future Devil May Cry games, while Dante of Earth 2 splits off in a different direction. It also means that there's an official Devil May Cry "canon," which somebody has actually put thought into. In fact, there are two now.

Now the change just seems even more pointless, IMHO.

Great then I'll come back to the series when the old timeline is brought back. I have no interest in parallel world 2 DMC starring Hilary Swank thank you very much.

:lmao:

Why are they even showing clips of the "real" Dante then? The two worlds will probably merge... I think the "head" of Ninja Theory LOOKS like this Dante.. which is the real reason for the change.

This isnt exactly new information. The game is a reboot. This wasnt the same character and only shares the same name and abilities. This was never promoted as a sequel or prequel to the old series. This was always something completely different and people should have been going into this with the mindset that it was an alternate universe that doesnt share the history and continuity of the old games

Well... When I think "reboot" I don't think "different universe". When I think "reboot" I think "everything done in the past... forget about that, this is the new starting point."

I still won't be picking this up. Part of me hopes it has horrible sales just so we can "forget" the "reboot."

Agreed.

Even if this game weren't tied to Devil May Cry and were that of an original title with no relation to the series and whatnot I'd still be equally uninterested.

Ditto.

I don't really care for Ninja Theory at all really... I didn't like Heavenly Sword at all and Enslaved was just "meh." So, imagine my excitement when I heard they were doing a DMC game...

Should have been the in house Capcom guys. They were doing good I personally thought DMC 4 was an incredibly fun game.

I think the "head" of Ninja Theory LOOKS like this Dante.. which is the real reason for the change.

I don't see it. :p

I get the feeling Capcom looked at its old sales prediction of five million, realized how far-fetched it was, and came up with this.

Which is kind of a shame. I'm not a fan of Ninja Theory's changes, but why go through all this trouble just to make it a what-if before the game's even released. Might as well not have made the game.

I never liked the old DMC games, the gameplay was too stiff for me and I wasn't a huge fan of the world or style, but this looks intriguing.

Still hate it as much as on the first day. Probably even more. 3 reasons.

1. This looks like they completely ripped off Bayonetta. With the 2 worlds existing next to each other and the demon world being a deformed version of the real world.
2. Dante looking like the effin' game designer.
3. They replaced heavy metal with punk.

Funny you say that bc many said Bayonetta was a rip off of the original DMCs

Trailer is good. The game is looking interesting.
If they make a great game, get good reviews and it looks interesting, then I'll get it. I won't get stuck in the past, though I hardly think this version of Dante will be more fun than the other.

It's good to hear the truth about this Dante. The continuity is one of the things that I was in doubt.

Its too bad people cant get past the look of the character (which is fine, just different) and focus on the gameplay and aesthetics of the game, which both seem to be pretty solid at this point

But it's 3 worlds. You got the angel side, the real world and the demon world.

Whats bad with Punk influence? Thats what Dante is looking like, a british 80s punk guy.

Too many people here are still *****ing about Dante not looking like an anime fairy princess but an actual killer. :oldrazz:
