I’ve just started using moisturiser since my face gets a bit dry and obviously your face is the first thing people look at in job interviews or meetings or whatever. Do you use anything?

I reckon things have changed a lot with skincare for me now that guys like Chris Hemsworth and Hugh Jackman use it and endorse it

I've been using a charcoal face scrub...
(doesn't even have to be fancy or expense stuff either, I just picked up a new tub at the dollar store)

it seems to make a difference

Is this exclusive for men or can I help?

of course, sorry I didn’t mean to make it sound like anyone was excluded. Do you have any recommendations?

love the charcoal face scrub! I always feel kind of clean and shiny afterwards. Lately I’ve been using this green tea moisturiser which smells so good and makes my face look so much smoother.

it really helps especially because I didn’t get much vitamin d from the sun last year and my skin just got red raw and blotchy

Thanks! :D I had to ask, sorry.

Which skin type do you have? oily/dry/mixed?

Do you have rosacea?

I do the face masks, under eye masks, clay masks. nice little rotation of them all.

no idea what rosacea is but yeah my skin is a bit dry

I love face masks, I gave one a go that had seaweed in it. It felt really nice but I’m not sure how much of an effect it had. Maybe I should try a different type

Water
Cleanser (at night only)
Exfoliator (2 to 3 times a week, avoid those really harsh scrubs)
Toner (some say toner is useless, but some toners are way advanced now)
Mask (sometimes, they add eXtra hydration)
Serum
Moisturizer
Sunscreen (at day)
Lipbalm

I used to watch lots of videos regarding skin care last year and really helped my skin. You basically just need 3 to 4 items - cleanser, exfoliator, moisturizer and sunscreen. But things like serum, treatment like retinoid, boosters, face masks are eXtra help.

Now because I wear surgical masks every single day, I sometimes just cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize.

Also knowing the type of your skin helps.

The ones I use right now right are
- Volcanic lava cleanser/scrub (will get rid of the scrub and use like a gel exfoliator to avoid micro scars)
- green tea toner
- pomegranate serum
- mud mask
- aloe vera moisturizer which is the best for oily skin
- shea butter lip cream
- sun screen

For the rest of my body, just a regular soap and lotion.

Thank me later.

Redness? On your cheeks and nose?

If you do have redness, you may want to use the appropriate skin care products for that.

My daily routine consists on:
  • Cleanser: with a light cream texture
  • Eye contour gel with hyaluronic acid
  • Vitamin C serum
  • Light cream
  • Sunscreen 50 SPF (for mixed skin)
Once every 2 weeks:

A light scrub and vitamin C face mask.

Be gentle with the scrub because: depending on your skin type and age :P, the more you scrub... the more you may experience some breakouts. And excessive scrubbing is not good either.

Of course she does...... :p

I wash my face with soap and water with a wash cloth. I guess I'm just a basics kind of guy. I also put off getting my hair cut for as long as possible. I used to have minor rosacea, but it went away.

BTW, it's a skin condition that causes redness and some bumps.

Getting into skin care was one of my coping mechanisms I dived into during pandemic shutdown. I've always moisturized but I've developed a morning and a nighttime routine, I've been very pleased with all results since I started.

I use a charcoal face wash and vary my moisturizer. I tend to mainly use Neutrogena and Cetaphil. Aside from being great for sensitive & dry skin, they also have SPF to protect against the sun

I have to be honest I wasn’t expecting so many people to take care of their skin here. I thought I would get a bunch of responses saying “I’m too manly to worry about my skin!” I’m quite glad actually, Joan rivers used to say your face is your shopfront so you better present well

I don't know about manly, but my skin is clear and I tend to stay out of the sun without sunblock. Forgot about that, but sunblock definitely qualifies as skincare. Just a different approach.

Thank me later.

I've taken Swedish Massage classes and have coconut oil. It's a solid at room temp and liquifies when it hits your skin. It allows you to massage (effleurage) skin without making it sore. I know how to use it to dramatically reduce or eliminate menstrual cramps. Your heel and achilles area is a pressure point for this.

Of course you did.

hey, hey, hey.....what are you insinuating???? If you must know, a woman I knew on my hall when I was at UCSC signed me up for it. I think she may have been trying to tell me something.
