I agree with what Shadowlord X said about your post. Well said. Especially about Whedon avoiding spoon feeding. If I imagine the scene between Tony and Steve about Coulson taking place in panel of a comic book, its meaning wouldn't have been lost on me. I just didn't expect this from a movie and missed its point (makes me revile that reviewer who claimed Joss Whedon is the next Michael Bay even more)
If there are things that Joss is good at, it's subtleties. I would have loved to see them collaborating while they planned how to make each hero shine and hear this sort of discussion take place.
Congratulations, you've convinced meThis is what I love about forums: open, honest discussion (especially if it doesn't resort to trolling and flaming.. Reminds me of when this place was just called "Spidermanhype" Those were the days) --You get different viewpoints that can enhance your own point of view.

My problem was that Cap wasn't special enough. I think he was written well but action wise so so again. Even in Cap America I wasn't impressed by anything he did. I think they needed a better fight choreographer for cap. As someone said he seemed no different then Hawkeye or BW. I got no sense that this man had increased strength speed and agility. Never did i hear he survived frozen in ice because of the Serum. The movie was great but Cap's powers were so so.

I thought he seemed pretty darn agile, though he never did appear all that "superstrong" in this, save for a few key moments. Seemed more evenly matched strengthwise with The Chitauri than the forces of Hydra.
Cap is my favorite Avenger, so yeah, I think they definitely did him justice. The fact that he apparently had a lot of stuff cut from the movie and still had more screentime than pretty much any other Avenger tells me that this was definitely Cap's movie, and that Whedon gets him. I figure most of the stuff that was cut was more just for time concerns than anything else.
Yep, Cap definitely was the forefront of the movie, along with Iron Man. Whedon did say that the Avengers is gonna be from Caps point if view after all. Can't wait to see the deleted scenes. There is at least one action sequence of him, as that shot of him throwing the shield towards the camera was never shown in the film
He initially said that, but then shifted the perspective from Cap to the entire team....the final cut was far less Cap centric. A lot of scenes regarding Cap and his adjustment to the real world were cut.
Possibly, but I think they're saving that whole story/those ideas for Cap 2. Avengers wasn't supposed to be a Cap story...it's an interesting angle but in the end didn't serve the purpose of the film as a whole.
The entire series was a Logan arc....moreso the first two films. And, to be honest, that was something I disliked about the X-Men series. Too focused on one character when the X-Men are a team-based entity. Same thing with the Avengers; when you dwell too much on one character, story anchor or not, you risk taking away time from the other characters, and that, imo, would have disappointed fans....especially so with Avengers.
yeah but it would of made it feel a bit more natural then the approach they took of every already knew each other vibe. When tony met Cap in germany they greated each other like oh hey whats up. I can see stark and banner having that knowing each other thing going on but cap and thor had never met them before. plus correct me if Im wrong but Ironman and cap hadnt even met up until that point and how did cap know who stark was in such little time? See where Im going with this? wouldnt it have been a great leeway into some meaningful dialogue with those 2 prior to thor coming and snatching loki away?
Also in X-men one it was told from logans point of view and that turned out pretty well. Now X2 and X3 went alittle too logan heavy though.
