Do you think women would you rather be seen as objects of desire or social equals?

Well?

personal female views are welcome but i'm mostly looking for a male opinion here.

I'm voting social equal. Nothing different in the head, just whats under the clothes. I'm all for no gender definitions at all. Why the whole skirts/trousers thing? Why not just have both sexes wearing both? Why 'mens work' and 'womens work' why not just 'work'?

I would be entirely happy with no gender definition whatsoever, but it won't happen.

Well, I think alot of the time it depends on the person

But...I'd say both...
Probably changes depending on what social situation they're in, too.

well let's say your choice would be based on what they would prefer to be seen as...

let's say 80% of the time

do you think that's applicable?

can men manage to be both?

It's a rhetorical question. Any male who says that he'd want to see women as objects of desire rather than social equals will only be inviting ridicule and punishment. Even if there are such males amongst our mist, they won't make their real opinions known out of fear of the backlash they'd have to deal with.

that's not what rhetorical means...

but it is a catch 22.

but that's why i haven't asked for the individuals own opinion on women, but what they feel a lady (or the general female populus) would wish for for themselves.

my fiancee and I got into an arugment about this a few nights ago.I was going the safe route and said (both).I should have just kept my mouth shut:(

I think that in non-sexual situations most women want nothing more than to be treated equally. This means at work, while shopping, driving, etc. A woman will really only want to be seen as an object of desire to either a) validate how she feels about herself (such as wearing tight clothing or a low cut shirt just for the attention) or b) illicit a response from THEIR object of desire.

This isn't counting the times that a woman will use her sexuality to get a man to do something.

It won't happen because it goes against nature. Women are feminine by nature, and men are not. You can't just reverse that by putting on different clothes.

how could saying both land you in the crapper?

there were no grounds for her to argue with over, how did you get owned?

i agree that simply changing clothes won't work, but "social equal" does not equal "natural equal".

Hold on... he got into a fight with his woman when she had nothing to argue on? That NEVER happens. :whatever:

All every woman really wants - be it mother, senator, nun - is some serious deep-dicking.

funny you say that, because it's in these non-sexual areas where i would assume people would wish to be desired the most, as long as it doesn't jepoardise or interfere with what they are currently doing.

I don't really know. Women are crafty.

As long as they have the option to use their sexuality to get us to do their bidding in any situation, the question is moot. The most feminazi female will still use her body if she deems she can get a neanderthal to follow what she wants.

no poll?

I think women should be slaves.

Except DBella

Hilarious, what is this crap?

"Do you think Black people would rather have good reflexes or be good at math?"

The answer is, there are some women whose lives are consumed mainly by their "need" to be thought of as desirable.

There are others who could not care less about their attractiveness rating and only want to study fungi in the Amazon.

There are others who really want men to desire them physically, while seeing and treating them as equals.

Bad thread.

What I get tired of are people trying to blur the differences between men and women, masking it as "equality". Men and women are different but equal.

Reflexes, definitely reflexes...

well you've put your opinion down, that's all i was looking for.

as clean cut as you wish to put things down in, I feel when it comes to certain things like such, as spread as the answer may be, there is a general skewness of the standard populus one way or the other, it isn't a gaussian distribution with the extremes being equally weighted and teh majority sitting bang in the middle.

you always play safe scream, I'm sure that everyone knows they won't be able to account for everyone but you do have a tendency to play safe on threads of this usual nature.

maybe i should have put a religious slant on that, i know how you love those threads ;)

first of all, this thread is wrong on many different levels, although some responses have been great

but anyhoo, both women and men like to feel considered an object of desire and a social equal, specially from their mates, which in the end is the most important

I really don't care if other dudes look at my girlfriend with lusty eyes, I know that it's me who gets to enjoy the meal at the end of the day, and she doesn't care if I dress up for work, as she told me once, she's the one who gets to take off my clothes

yet, there hasn't been a night when we don't have a long conversation about whatever subject we bump into while watching tv or have dinner

it's just finding the balance
